Shops that have 'a smell'

What shops do you find have a smell that's definitely their own?

Every Next I've ever been to in the UK (South), always smells the exact same. I just walk in and even if blindfolded id tell you I was in Next

It's the same with Lush but then that's self explanatory given all the smellies in there Grin

There was a shop in Spain called Oysho, which always smelt really lovely. They sell pyjamas, undies, warm socks and things and they all smell the same, I love it but I can't even begin to describe it!

Haven’t been in a Jack wills for about 10 years, but used to frequent that shop from about 2008-2011. Every single one always smelt the same whenever I used to go in

LucySullivanIsGettingMarried · 01/12/2021 16:57

GAP shops always used to have the same smell back in the 90s

Comedycook · 01/12/2021 16:58

There's a carpet shop near me that smells so strong when you walk past...It's Like a chemically/aftershave smell. Don't know how the staff put up with it.

PiffleWiffleWoozle · 01/12/2021 16:58

Carpet shops smell of new carpet. Unsurprisingly.

Cross post!

Subway smells lush but they pump the smell out its not real

ThisWormHasTurned · 01/12/2021 16:59

All HMVs used to smell of mustiness and B.O

ChristmasKrackers · 01/12/2021 17:00

What do you reckon that Next smell is?

Laura Ashley always smelt nice too

WhoUsedMyName · 01/12/2021 17:00

@CloudyStorms whhhhaaaaatttttt? As in subway bread it's not real?

WhoUsedMyName · 01/12/2021 17:01

Obviously bread being real but the smell of food I'm confused lol

SprayedWithDettol · 01/12/2021 17:02

I don’t know if anyone remembers Pier Imports. It always had a herby/incense smell.

Flamingolingo · 01/12/2021 17:03

Hollister always had a distinctive smell, whether in America or here. With all these shops I think it’s a fragrance you can buy. Next home has a smell that gives me a headache and my friend’s mum seems to have bought the scent wholesale.

I thought you were going to be talking about the funky/musty smell that is particular to corner shops.

Omg I loved that shop
hotmeatymilk · 01/12/2021 17:05

Marks & Spencer – not the food halls but the clothes shops. Absolutely horrific and intense, can’t abide it.

catinboots123 · 01/12/2021 17:07

When I was pregnant with Ds1 I used to go into carpet shops and sniff the samples. It was my craving. Divine.

lisaandalan · 01/12/2021 17:19

Zara home always smells the same and lovely.
I also love the smell of carpet shops, new carpet is lovely. X

Talipesmum · 01/12/2021 17:27

Haha I was just going to say Zara always smells the same, but I really don’t like it - overly pungent diffuser sticks smell. I end up having to leave because it gets up my nose.

Weirdly I’m fine in Lush! I think it’s the specific Zara scent I don’t like.

PuppyMonkey · 01/12/2021 17:30

I went into a Heron Foods recently and it definitely smelled of the 1970s. It’s similar in the Co-op.

Not necessarily a bad thing btw.Grin

Offredismysister · 01/12/2021 17:30

Costco has a smell. Weirdly when I worked in the hospital the ground floor pharmacy stores smelt the same. It’s like a cold warehouse smell.

FionnulaTheCooler · 01/12/2021 17:34

Now CEX has taken over in that department. Never been in one that doesn't stink.

AngelinaFibres · 01/12/2021 17:36

Waitrose always smells like waitrose.

JosephineDeBeauharnais · 01/12/2021 17:37

Reiss pumps out something with Oud in it, you can smell it from outside.

Wow I straight away thought of subway, but for how awful the smell is, I’ve never been in one because of that smell!!

Maybe I’m a bit smell sensitive, as Lush also comes to mind as far too overpowering for me.
