I’m an adult and I don’t have an advent calendar 🙋🏻‍♀️

I just don’t get them nor want one. Sometimes some of the things look nice but there’s invariably things I don’t want in there. I like using the same skincare not random bits and bobs. One year I shared a body shop calendar with my teen daughter and I’m still trying to use up tiny shower gels. I see so many threads, surely I’m not the only adult out there without one!

I'm mid 40's and I've never had a Christmas without one! I usually get given a No7 one which DH buys on offer and with staff discount it's really cheap. They have full sized and sample sized items in there. There are 4 or 5 full sized items in there that I use anyway and would cost almost the same as the calendar had I bought them individually. And I've had a chocolate one too. 😁

GTAlogic · 01/12/2021 15:18

I have a tea advent calendar. I want to try new flavours of tea and infusions but don't want to waste a pack of I don't like them. Usually I have a Hotel Chocolat milk chocolate one.

jamie85 · 01/12/2021 15:42

We haven't had any since the kids were young.
And we don't have Christmas tree up yet or decorations and not having lights outside.
Bah! Humbug? No too early.

I've had a beauty one the past 6 years or so. I spend so much on other people and work hard sorting Xmas and doing an the food and decorations I think I deserve a little daily treat. I usually like a good 90% of the things in them so it really is worth it to me

MrsBerthaRochester · 01/12/2021 15:52

I dont have one because Im to skint and have kids xmas to get I would love an m&s one. Feel sorry for me!!

teaandtoastwithmarmite · 01/12/2021 15:55

I've just got a galaxy one this year. Usually I get Yankee candle or something but we got married a couple of months ago so money is a bit tight and I have enough candles and wax melts that I could just use a new one every couple of days Grin
DD has a Roblox one

CafeCremeMerci · 01/12/2021 16:06

@Goldensunnydays81

I always think I want one but think I would be disappointed with what’s in them or won’t use the stuff so I never get one but then feel disappointed I haven’t got one 🤣
That's how I feel too! I'm a low carber (diabetic) so it rules out chocolate/popcorn etc. I don't do makeup/skin/body products. I don't drink much because of the diabetes. The craft ones aren't good value & to check out 'if it's worth it' I ruin the surprise.

I love a surprise! I don't have anyone (living near me) in my life that could make me one I'd enjoy (I'd considered giving someone some money to make one up for me, but given I'd struggle (for me) it seemed incredibly unfair to ask anyone else. I've contemplated making one up early in the year & putting it away, hoping I'll forget what's in it...

I just like the idea of a wee surprise every day.

I caved in & bought a tea one to try a few new teas as I'm trying to find one I really enjoy, but on opening it the licorice/aniseed is over powering . You can see all the packets - so no surprises!

Disappointed.

@GTAlogic

Which one did you get?

I toyed with the English Tea Company one, but ended up getting the Puka.

GTAlogic · 01/12/2021 16:19

I got the teapigs one because we drink their everyday brew and their choc & mint tea anyway so I trusted them!

Frymetothemoon · 01/12/2021 16:24

A Belgian chocolate calendar is the way to go. Never disappointed!

Vinotinto78 · 01/12/2021 16:31

No calendar, but I did treat myself to an absolutely beautiful poinsettia. The kids have their usual choccy calendars though (DS was disappointed to get a Creme Egg bar in his this morning - ungrateful sod 😀).

MintyGreenDream · 01/12/2021 16:42

I haven't got one because I can't trust myself not to rip the back off and scoff all the chocolates when I'm due on

CrimbleCrumble1 · 01/12/2021 16:48

MintyGreenDream I did do that one year, I think it was a Roses chocolate one, my DH was on a night out and I ate the whole thing. Rather than fess up I shut all the little doors. After about 10 days the guilt got to me, all the pretending what todays chocolate was and I told him what I’d done. I think he may do the same this year with his Aldi wine one especially after having a drink

LuckyAmy1986 · 01/12/2021 16:53

I haven't got one because I can't trust myself not to rip the back off and scoff all the chocolates when I'm due on I almost did this the other day, took a lot of strength not to!

Hobnobsandbroomstick · 01/12/2021 16:55

My mother in law always gets me the M&S beauty advent calendar. I love it!

firstimemamma · 01/12/2021 17:11

I don't have one either op. It's just stuff, stuff, stuff to me.

Lifewith · 01/12/2021 17:15

@foxgoosefinch because I'm allowed to comment like everyone else?
Mis interpreting me.

KeflavikAirport · 01/12/2021 17:25

Ugh this is real environmental hell in a handcart stiff for me. I saw someone on twitter today who'd got one for his bloody dog.

makelovenotpetrol · 01/12/2021 17:28

Why would an adult need one? They're for kids not grown adults.

dementedpixie · 01/12/2021 17:30

Dh has a beer one; obviously it's for after work rather than before!
The rest of us, including me have Lindt Teddy ones

TonTonMacoute · 01/12/2021 17:31

I adored Advent calendars as a child and since DS has grown up and moved out I buy one for myself.

I don't want things in it, I just love the little pictures. Simple pleasures!

This year I have this one.

That’s lovely. Where is it from?

Our dogs have them too. 😂 The kids make sure the dogs got there treat this morning before they had theres.

Goshitstricky · 01/12/2021 17:37

I have one with tiny jars of jam in that I will repurpose with homemade cosmetics or candles or other preserves. I love it and I'm only on day 1 Grin

Exhausteddog · 01/12/2021 17:51

I wanted to get an old school paper one (with glitter - sorry I know that's bad) but it was really hard to find and way more expensive than the chocolate ones!!
