What lockdown habit have you kept up with?

Obviously hoping we avoid another lockdown. But I was thinking about some of the things we did during lockdown. Yesterday I had a video call with a couple of friends as we were trying to sort out a meet up at Christmas. It felt almost quaint, but something I thought I should do more often.

Daily walks seem to have disappeared from my life too.

What lockdown habit have you kept in your life?

Online grocery shopping. It’s just easier.

ThePoisonousMushroom · 28/11/2021 09:19

Drinking too much.

spagbog5 · 28/11/2021 09:20

Weekly walk with my friend
Absolutely love it and look forward to our catch up every week.

Peppapigforlife · 28/11/2021 09:21

Eating out of boredom.
Not getting dressed.
Wearing pyjama top under my coat

Scarby9 · 28/11/2021 09:22

Skyping parents for 30 minutes each day.

Daily exercise, healthy eating, jigsaw on the go, tidy house - all those positive lockdown habits have now gone...

Mammma91 · 28/11/2021 09:24

Wearing my dressing gown a lot more. Now when i come home from anywhere, work, nursery run, foodshop, I always get cosy in my dressing gown! 😂 i love it. I’m always a bit miffed if someone has to come over and I need to take it off.

Weekly French lessons
I started looking online for a tutor last year and found one back in March. It helps keep me sane and busy at the same time as well which is good.

Lockdown days were pretty close to normal days for me anyway, just with the dc's at home.

Legoninjago1 · 28/11/2021 09:27

Declining to go to the office!

nancy75 · 28/11/2021 09:27

Using the gun scanner thing in Sainsbury’s instead of queuing up to pay - I obviously lead quite a boring life 😂

WeatherwaxOn · 28/11/2021 09:28

Online grocery shopping and bad crochet. Sometimes simultaneously.

Not feeling the need to be here there and everywhere every weekend... my bank balance is certainly happier for it too.

Xiaoxiong · 28/11/2021 09:32

I joined an online website and started doing barre exercise videos in the second lockdown and I'm still doing them on a regular basis. I do them after the kids are in bed. I manage 2-3 a week, which I think has helped keep me around the same size as I started the year despite boredom eating and drinking. I had tried videos before and never kept it up - I think I had to find the right set of videos that don't have any jumping, just lots of planks/squats/weights, that kind of thing, and there are enough of them on the website that I don't get bored!

StillWalking · 28/11/2021 09:42

Daily walking ... hence my user name. I'm much lighter and much fitter as a result, so not all bad .......

squashyhat · 28/11/2021 09:57

Wearing a mask wherever it makes me feel safer. Scanner shopping. Extra handwashing and sanitising. I'm retired so no worries about work or commuting.

sourrain · 28/11/2021 09:57

Reading. I used to be an avid reader but let it go. I read lots in lockdown and make time for it now.

Youngatheart00 · 28/11/2021 09:59

I have a strange obsession with step count since lockdown. I rarely hit my 10,000 though and am 2 stone heavier than when lockdown started so maybe I need to rethink 🙈

ThePoisonousMushroom · 28/11/2021 10:04

I didn’t have time to do anything over and above staying afloat in lockdown, as I had a full time job plus homeschooling 2 primary aged children and looking after a toddler. I got fatter, drank more to block it all out and dropped all my hobbies. I can’t think of a single thing from that time that I’d like to keep up!

Stopping to do things just for me, it's liberating

Snoopsnoggysnog · 28/11/2021 10:13

I had a hectic social life pre lockdown (work events, large family, various friend groups) and I’ve been much more selective about what I attend now. It’s been very liberating and made me realise I was completely burnt out.

Online shopping
A love of flannel pjs
Phoning friends rather than visiting
Drinking very good wine

StCharlotte · 28/11/2021 10:28

Wearing a mask in shops, on the (not remotely crowded) bus and round the office (mostly).

Kippersfortea · 28/11/2021 10:29

Ordering things we probably don't need from Amazon way too easily
Ordering over priced groceries from Deliveroo when I could just walk and get them
Rarely wearing trousers that don't have an elasticated waist
Never wearing shoes that aren't flat
Doing very little socially (just seems like such an effort now it's a hard habit to get back into)
I've also become a master procrastinator. Life lost its urgency for a while, and I think maybe I need some urgency back.
