What lockdown habit have you kept up with?

Obviously hoping we avoid another lockdown. But I was thinking about some of the things we did during lockdown. Yesterday I had a video call with a couple of friends as we were trying to sort out a meet up at Christmas. It felt almost quaint, but something I thought I should do more often.

Daily walks seem to have disappeared from my life too.

In wet means in every

@TheChosenTwo have always washed my hands after going to the toilet (it became shockingly clear how many people were NOT used to doing this )

I always knew people were disgusting about washing hands. We used to share a caravan with the ILs and in such a small space it was very obvious when someone had been to the toilet and not bothered even turning a tap on. I offered to cook every meal I could get away with because SIL thought nothing of having a shit then making a salad for us all with her bare, unwashed, shitty hands. When I did get the lady balls to say something she laughed and was proud of it. MIL said I was making a fuss over nothing. This same woman who pointlessly washes a fresh chicken before cooking and refuses to buy farm fresh eggs in case they've been in contact with chicken poop, thinks nothing of dirty hands on food instead?

They actually mocked DH, the kids and I when we automatically went to wash our hands before dinner.

I always go for a daily walk. Its what i do anyway, whatever the weather.

I try to avoid people as much though. Come to realise i cant be arsed with a lot so i will say no to someone wanting to visit, family gatherings etc. if i want to go somewhere, i just say no and don’t care if i offend anyone.

lljkk · 28/11/2021 16:06

Wearing PJs all day. I think I'm doing that increasingly maybe.

HereticFanjo · 28/11/2021 16:13

Zoom drinks with distant friends. It's lovely and means we have much more regular catch ups.

TheChosenTwo · 28/11/2021 16:33

@TangerineDreams that’s just all so fucking grim Envy
And what absolute twat washes a chicken anyway??
That’s just minging.
Not surprised you wanted to take on all the cooking, my stomach would be churning just thinking of eating food they’d prepared!

Learning gaelic on duolingo

VeganCheesePlease · 28/11/2021 16:52

Video calls- I have a few friends who live far away and we never really appreciated video calls until now, and they're a lovely way to stay in touch and feel close.
Cooking - with takeaways closed and shopping so limited over LD, I've properly learned how to cook and I've kept that up.
Bad habits - too easy to have a glass of wine more than one night a week!!!

backaftera2yearbreak · 28/11/2021 17:01

Excessive eating.

Loveatortie · 28/11/2021 17:02

Using up food we would normally chuck out. Had some interesting, tasty meals.

RedSpotOfJupiter · 28/11/2021 17:03

Eating loads

Drinking on work days (never did this before lockdown)

Letting the dog sleep in my bed
Not going to the gym

Blaming the tumble dryer for shrinking my clothes rather than my expanding waistline

coronacockdown · 28/11/2021 17:03

Only using 4 sheets of loo roll per wipe. Reckon I’ve saved loads since March 2020!

RedSpotOfJupiter · 28/11/2021 17:03

Drinking on work day evenings not the day 😳😂

TheChosenTwo · 28/11/2021 17:23

Flowers and TV guide. I started to pick them up during my mid-week top up shop. Usually get flowers that have lilies in them and DD really enjoys (gets so excited) to watch them opening up. I still enjoy flicking through the TV guide on a Fri evening.

Daily walks. I lost 2 stone over 6 months and that was the only thing I changed. Had always done fitness classes but would not go back to them now, walking is free, I can go at any time and I can catch up on my podcasts
Daisychainsandglitter · 28/11/2021 21:05

Getting out for a walk on a daily basis.

Chattercino · 28/11/2021 21:06

I'm with you @ThePoisonousMushroom

Dbakl · 28/11/2021 21:10

I’ve had a sourdough starter on the go since April 2020, when all the yeast disappeared from the shops. I make bread at least once a week now.

Frazzled2207 · 28/11/2021 21:11

wfh (not entirely these days but most days).

Drinking wine almost every night.

Film night almost every weekend with the kids, pizza and popcorn. We take turns to choose.

Never stopped wearing a mask.

Not really been to anywhere vaguely crowded (eg a busy pub, pop concert or rush hour train) and no intention of doing so either.

RoobyMyrtle · 28/11/2021 21:12

Growing my own veg (something I used to do but stopped 10 years ago), walking 3 times a week, not going out to town every weekend (there's not much left there now anyway). I also still enjoy decorating my window for each season and the road Facebook group where we swap things and share community news.

KrispyKale · 28/11/2021 21:14

Duolingo.😂

purplesequins · 28/11/2021 21:15
