What lockdown habit have you kept up with?

Obviously hoping we avoid another lockdown. But I was thinking about some of the things we did during lockdown. Yesterday I had a video call with a couple of friends as we were trying to sort out a meet up at Christmas. It felt almost quaint, but something I thought I should do more often.

Daily walks seem to have disappeared from my life too.

What lockdown habit have you kept in your life?

  • Grocery deliveries.
  • My “posh frock walk”, every Friday lunchtime. I get dressed up and made up for a circular walk to nowhere. But feel better for it.
MargosKaftan · 28/11/2021 11:01

On line good delivery here too- we did use it before but now its a weekly thing and makes life easier.

Home hair dye. I've found a shade that is actually what I want that the hairdressers never quite got right. I know its not as good for my hair as salon colour, but is the shade I wanted all along. Think this is it for the next few years. (Must stock up in case the company changes the shades!)

Stuffing my face 😢😩

DentalWorries · 28/11/2021 11:13

Not wearing make up on the days I work from home

OhPeeQueue · 28/11/2021 11:13

Ordering everything from Amazon. It’s like my corner shop.

Wearing leggings and tights. I’ll never wear trousers again.

Funnily, I was never a hugger and hated touching door handles in public paces before covid, so that’s not changed.

RandomDent · 28/11/2021 11:15

Amazon Subscribe & save for toiletries.

MrsPsmalls · 28/11/2021 11:15

Eating more

PriamFarrl · 28/11/2021 11:21

I did a daily walk before Covid but I see more people doing it too now.

The biggest change has been realising that I don’t need to go out Saturday and Sunday over the weekend. We used to go out for breakfast both mornings but now just one.

Also I’ve kept making my own bread. I put the mix in the Kitchen Aid for ten minutes while I do core exercises and then it sits and proves for a few hours. Then I bake a baguette and we have a buffet lunch/tea with bread, cheese, olives, tomatoes, quiche etc.

BlueShirtGirl · 28/11/2021 11:31

Eating crap, wearing lazy clothes, not going out half as much, dyeing my roots myself!

TangerineDreams · 28/11/2021 11:32

Online shopping the big grocery shop which I now do more often to avoid needing to go to the small local shops as much. I'm actually saving a fortune.

Mask wearing. I don't want to catch covid but I also don't want anyone's colds or other bugs. I'm happy to keep masked up near people. The general public can be gross.

Distancing in shops. Again, the general public can be gross. I'm happy to be 2m away from that bloke who doesn't know what a shower or even body spray is, or that woman who has 40 cats at home.

Not shaking hands. Never liked it. Creepy dudes placing another hand over yours and taking too long to let go or people with too firm or too sweaty a grip.

PatchworkElmer · 28/11/2021 11:39

Online shopping and running.

Foxyloxy1plus1 · 28/11/2021 12:39

Never stopped wearing a mask in shops, buses and anywhere busy.
Starting online shopping again, but it’s so much more expensive.
Way too much online shopping. Then again, all the clothes shops in town are shut now anyway.

Saying no to things that don’t suit me

NightmareSlashDelightful · 28/11/2021 12:42

Audiobooks and athleisure

TheChosenTwo · 28/11/2021 12:45

I can’t think of anything I took up during lockdown that I’ve kept.
Have always exercised and done my food shopping online, have always washed my hands after going to the toilet (it became shockingly clear how many people were NOT used to doing this Envy ) and I’m glad to see the back of zoom quizzes! We’ve always made our own bread and both dh and I have had to physically go out to work throughout so haven’t fallen into the trap of pyjamas day and night Grin (actually neither of us own pyjamas but you know what I mean, loungewear/slobby house clothes type stuff).
I didn’t take up new hobbies or start anything new.

TheSandgroper · 28/11/2021 12:47

@Xiaoxiong Please can you refer me to your ballet exercises? I have had a look around but am never quite satisfied with what I find. Thanks in advance.

Fashio · 28/11/2021 12:48

Walks with mates. Have quite an array of different gangs. Got boots, walking clothes and the OS map app

Keladrythesaviour · 28/11/2021 12:49

Going for a walk as a legitimate meet up. Works ideally for me as I have a dog, but others seem more inclined to get in touch and say "shall we do a dog walk" whereas before I'd always have to squeeze in a dog walk before meeting up with friends.

DinosApple · 28/11/2021 12:50

Eating. And fleecy lounge wear!

SulisMinerva · 28/11/2021 12:53

Learning Welsh, regular walks, less tv watching and doing embroidery.

Crimeismymiddlename · 28/11/2021 12:56

A weekly walk with friends, earring better.

Insert1x20p · 28/11/2021 12:57

Leggings and Ugg’s
Too much wine
Duolingo - on day 247 of my streak.

DontKeepTheFaith · 28/11/2021 13:00

Elasticated waist bands🤣🤣
Nothing else.
Do crochet but started long before Covid-19.

mum2jakie · 28/11/2021 13:02

Working from home for most of the week. Daily walk, although that has lapsed over the last couple of weeks since it has been really cold and wet - and now snow!

BleuJay · 28/11/2021 13:05

I carried on as normal in w wet aspect other than the five mile radius for travel when I walk my dogs.

I usually go to places further afield but I discovered some new places writhing they give mile radius and it’s been lovely going to these places.
