Just wondering how long it took everyone to get back into their pre pregnancy clothes. I'm 3 months and absolutely none of mine fit I've had to go out and buy all new clothes. Will they ever fit again or should I just throw them out Sad

5 weeks.
However I put a lot of pressure on myself and probably would be more relaxed if I had my time again.

Erm.... Will let you know.. Youngest is 9

OnlyFoolsnMothers · 25/11/2021 21:56

First pregnancy I got close- second, no chance- 2nd baby is a year old and I’m a size and half bigger than I was pre any babies

I'm not. Youngest nearly 2 didn't with the nearly 4 year old either

DownWhichOfLate · 25/11/2021 21:57

Almost a year. But I put on about 5 stone.

Jabvribt · 25/11/2021 21:58

I did weight watchers to shift the stone I put on and managed to get back to pre pregnancy size around 4 months after having DS but generally my body is not the same as it used to (which wasn’t a massive surprise really)

DontGetYourKnickersInATwist · 25/11/2021 22:00

With dc1...I don't think I ever did! I was a whole size bigger after I had her.

But with dc2, who was a very hungry baby, my weight plummeted with feeding him, so I was back down a size! Then I stopped feeding him and I'm fatter than ever .

Not sure what my point is...maybe that bodies change size all the time. Wear clothes that fit you and are comfortable. Life's too short to wear jeans that are too tight (and anyway too tight jeans look awful imho). Maybe you'll go down to pre preg size or maybe not. So keep both sets of clothes.

Hoesbeforebroes · 25/11/2021 22:01

No.1 I wore my pre-pregnancy jeans out of hospital. But my feet remained a size bigger forever!

No.2 left me permanently a size bigger. He's a teen now and no matter how lean and fit I get it doesn't make a difference, I think my pelvis grew or something!

hoomama · 25/11/2021 22:01

After my first I was back in my size 8 clothes after about 2 weeks. Unfortunately it didn't last and I went up to a size 10 within about 2 months.

I had my 2nd child a year and a half ago and went up to a size 12 and no matter what I do, I cannot shift any of the weight. I am a stone and a half heavier than before I had my kids and I don't think I will ever get back to what I was.

TuesdayIsTheNewMonday · 25/11/2021 22:02

9 months- certainly do not give up at 3 months

Flamingolingo · 25/11/2021 22:02

I still have my favourite pair of pre baby jeans. I haven’t been able to wear them since 2013. I can just about get them up but no hope of fastening them. What can you do?!

WhatsWrongWithMyUsername · 25/11/2021 22:04

12 years and counting…it’s not the weight (which I’ve lost and gained plenty of times since babies) it’s the shape. I’ve got split stomach muscles (can’t remember proper word), but not bad enough to actually do anything about it. I used to have a tiny waist.

sparklefarts · 25/11/2021 22:04

6 years Blush

Heruka · 25/11/2021 22:05

1st time it was around 9-12months. Second time longer and took concerted effort, 2.5yrs mibbe.

OverTheWater · 25/11/2021 22:05

I was the same weight as pre pregnancy at 2 weeks postpartum but have a wider ribcage and hips so although everything more or less fits some no longer suits, so I'll be having a wardrobe clear out.

Question for you is whether it's weight gain or shape change or both? And whether you are bothered about it?

Starcaller · 25/11/2021 22:06

I never have. My weight is back to the same but my body shape has totally changed and the weight is distributed very differently. Anything fitted from pre-baby doesn't really work now.

stalkersaga · 25/11/2021 22:07

Nine months both times. My body hangs onto the last half stone for breastfeeding until my babies start eating solids properly and my periods return.

mumtobee22 · 25/11/2021 22:18

I was 8 stone before I got pregnant and all my clothes are extremely tiny. I don't think they'll ever fit Sad

About a week with DC1, but I was breastfeeding CONSTANTLY so presume that was it. With DC2 I'm much bigger so I think it'll be a while!

BebesChamber · 25/11/2021 22:24

2 weeks. I think it was all of the stress and tiredness along with breastfeeding. I had no appetite whatsoever.

Stressymcstress · 25/11/2021 22:25

Three months is no time!

Don’t put pressure on yourself to fit into old clothes, enjoy spending time and bonding with your new baby - that’s the important thing!

ParkheadParadise · 25/11/2021 22:26

Dd1 As soon as I left the hospital I was a young teenager at the time.

Dd2 I was ill when pregnant and lost weight. I struggled to put weight on after giving birth. I went to a size 6/8.
It took 2 years to get back to my normal size 12.

ScheisseMinelli · 25/11/2021 22:26

Oh at least 6 months. Give yourself time! Thanks

Oneforthemoneytwo · 25/11/2021 22:28

Number 1 was 9 days

Number 2 was 3 weeks. Number 3 was similar.

Beamur · 25/11/2021 22:30

2 weeks.
However after an early good start i'm a good size or 2 bigger now 😁
