How long did it take you to get back into your pre pregnancy clothes.

Just wondering how long it took everyone to get back into their pre pregnancy clothes. I'm 3 months and absolutely none of mine fit I've had to go out and buy all new clothes. Will they ever fit again or should I just throw them out Sad

6 months.

EcoCustard · 25/11/2021 22:33

After Dc1 it was about a week, Dc2 about 3 months, dc3 about 6 months and Dc4 I still haven’t and he is 2.5 🙈Grin. Hopefully closer by spring. I found 2-5 months post partum the worst after every pregnancy, tired, bloated and eating crap as I was too tired and sleep deprived and exercise was way down my priorities.

About 16 months. I actually didn't put lots of excess weight on during pregnancy, I lost it initially after giving birth but then started to put weight on quite quickly after. I think it was a combination of suddenly being less active and also breastfeeding. I was hungry ALL the time. About 14 months or so later I started to just naturally lose it. I was walking more & didn't feel as ravenous as before and the weight just started falling off.
I wont lie, it felt good to be back into my pre- pregnancy jeans again but I didn't put pressure on myself too much at the time as it just wasn't something I was too bothered about.

I lost the weight but my body has never gone back to its original shape. My back/rib cage is wider, none of my pre-pregnancy bras fitted. I also have a lovely caesarean pouch!

Ilikecheeseontoast · 25/11/2021 22:49

4 years and counting... I’m only 7lbs heavier but my body has just changed shape

Dindundundundeeer · 25/11/2021 22:52

9 months on
9 months off

That is the healthy way, surely?

Roseandgeranium · 25/11/2021 22:53

A few days after each pregnancy, I guess? It doesn’t work like that for everyone, though, so don’t let my answer or anyone else’s make you feel under any pressure to do the same. Some of it has to do with the clothes you like to wear. I’m slim and enjoy loose tops so my pre-pregnancy and maternity wear were pretty interchangeable. Leggings I just rolled down below my bump. I do have a couple of tight waisted skirts for smarter wear that pinched a bit for about a month after giving birth, and if your wardrobe is heavy on that kind of thing it’s likely to take slightly longer, but definitely don’t go chucking it all!

BrilliantBetty · 25/11/2021 22:53

I was 8 stone before I got pregnant and all my clothes are extremely tiny. I don't think they'll ever fit

Similar here. A size 8 (sometimes a 6) pre pregnancy. Baby is nearly 2. I can get in to an 8 but feel more comfortable in a 10. I do wear some of my old stuff but if buying new I get a 10 if it's not vanity sized.

With all my pregnancies it has taken somewhere between 18m and 2yrs for my body and eating habits to go back to "normal".

BrilliantBetty · 25/11/2021 22:56

And I could squeeze back in to jeans etc after a couple of weeks but I was kidding myself! It was uncomfortable. And then my body changed again.. due to feeding / hormones / mat leave / sleep deprivation and whatever else.
Be kind to yourself and give yourself time.

friedeggandsauce · 25/11/2021 23:01

10 days for both but I never put weight on I was just all bump!

Don't worry though I've friends who lost it later, we're all different

friedeggandsauce · 25/11/2021 23:02

Feel I should add I'm now a stone heavier than I was but I was ridiculously small at the time!!

17CherryTreeLane · 25/11/2021 23:04

10 days for 1st baby and about 4 weeks for 2nd. I did do circuit training right up to a couple of weeks before both births though.

Finding weight loss with peri-menopause much harder!!

Next day each time but that’s the only benefit of severe hg for the whole of each pregnancy. I never looked pregnant nor bought maternity clothes. I lost two stone whilst pregnant with DC3.

TulipsGarden · 25/11/2021 23:08

About six months, but then I gained it back again thanks to the pandemic. I remember at four months I couldn't fasten a pair of jeans that fit fine a couple of months later, but I'd barely lost any more weight - maybe two or three pounds. My uterus just hadn't finished contracting yet, and I imagine there was swelling from the c section.

Your shape does change when you have a baby, so realistically you might not get back to your pre-pregnancy size as your hips and ribcage often grow... but don't stop trying after three months, that's nothing! Bear in mind it took nine months to grow a human - not many people snap back.

qualitygirl · 25/11/2021 23:10

With my first I literally stayed the same size...walked out of the hospital in size 8 navy chinos. After my second it was 2 weeks.

I only put on 1.5 stone with my twins, so was back to normal in my skinny jeans within a couple of weeks.
BUT then during maternity leave in lockdown I put on 1.5 - 2 stone. Recently lost 10 pounds, but now feel like I've plateaued.

SickAndTiredAgain · 25/11/2021 23:12

When I left the hospital I was in regular pre-pregnancy size trousers. But I suffered badly with morning sickness and severe nausea so really barely put any weight on.

Throwntothewolves · 25/11/2021 23:19

About 6 weeks post partum I weighed half a stone less than pre-pregnancy. But I didn't put lots of weight on during pregnancy, and I was quite unwell with a chronic illness I have which had flared after the birth so that probably contributed to the weight loss, along with breast feeding, no sleep and not having time to eat much. It wasn't as great as it sounds, I remember looking in the mirror two months post birth and thinking my body looked great; big boobs, skinny waist etc. but feeling absolutely horrendous. Would rather have been bigger and felt well (and actually got some sleep!)

Amberflames · 25/11/2021 23:19

I was in normal jeans but old size larger 2 weeks later with both children. I always hung onto the last few pounds until I stopped breastfeeding though.

Magissa · 25/11/2021 23:30

27 years and counting!

MajorCarolDanvers · 25/11/2021 23:31

Never

Aliveandkicking23 · 25/11/2021 23:33

My eldest is 39 and I'm still waiting to get back to pre pregnancy weight.

ChakaFridaMendips · 25/11/2021 23:40
