Today I discovered podcasts…

So I realise I am way behind the times here…

Today after realising I was so bored listening to the radio evening after evening on my commute home I decided to dabble into the world of podcasts. I remember someone recommending happy mum happy baby and so listened to an episode on the way home and really enjoyed the change. It was so refreshing to listen to something interesting! So I would love it if people can recommend some podcasts for me! What are your favourites?? I feel like I’m entering a whole new world!

@coldwarenigma

Umm...I'm behind the times too... what's a podcast? Blush
They are like radio shows - Google it and loads come up. I use the Spotify app which costs 10.99 a month, but beyond that you can download anything for free - music or podcasts.

I really like ‘Deliciously Ella’ and ‘The Food Medic’ very rarely are these about food but more well-being focussed!

MissConductUS · 22/11/2021 20:00

Lore and Cabinet of Curiosities. Lore is so good Amazon Prime Video turned it into a TV series.

SpookyHalloween · 22/11/2021 20:00

My Favorite Murder is great.

Shagged Married Annoyed is one I always listen to the day it comes out. It's great watching the show grow since it started. I saw them live the other month too, was just as funny.

My Dad Wrote a Porno will have you in stitches!

coldwarenigma · 22/11/2021 20:00

pinkhippo thanks..I have Spotify for music playlists so will have a look...

Spottyspotladybird · 22/11/2021 20:02

Even if I have made an error in making a duplicate thread - (will remind myself to search next time.) It does fill me with some comfort that I am not the only one who is new to podcasts and someone else has also been living in a cave.

@Pinkhippotato - Oo a mumsnet AIBU podcast, definitely going to check this out.

WTF with Marc Maron. I feel like he's accompanied me through the last 11 years or so.

NeverTheHootenanny · 22/11/2021 20:06

I really like The Guilty Feminist podcast

Louis Theroux did a good series over lockdown, I think it was called Grounded

If it makes you feel better, i didn't realise about podcasts for a couple of years after I started using Spotify. Of course I found out via MN!
NigellaSeed · 22/11/2021 20:12

@SilverPeacock

First season of Serial is what got me into podcasts. It depends what you are interested in?
That was/is my first podcast and it was great.

Have made a note of Dead to me.

Soldoutinyoursize · 22/11/2021 20:13

The BBC sounds app has some great ones

Rina66 · 22/11/2021 20:15

Sorry, it wasn't meant as a criticism @Spottyspotladybird just wanted to make sure you saw all of those too as I love a podcast!

Spottyspotladybird · 22/11/2021 20:16

@coldwarenigma - I also had to ask a colleague how I listen to them… like I have heard of them but where are they!?

So I listened to a podcast a few years ago about UK policing, and it taught you how the police approach different crimes. It was amazing, but I only heard one and found it again. Does anyone recognise it?

whyohwhyohwhyohwhywhy · 22/11/2021 20:17

*never found it

ImInStealthMode · 22/11/2021 20:18

I could recommend a million true crime podcasts but not to everyone's taste!

Outside of that genre No Such Thing As A Fish is great, You're Dead To Me I've just started and seems good, and I enjoyed The Boring Talks but they haven't released one since April.

Lots of friends recommend My Dad Wrote a Porno but I haven't dived into that yet.

Spottyspotladybird · 22/11/2021 20:18

@Rina66 don’t worry! Not taken as offence at all! Love that there’s so many suggestions on that thread as well!! Thanks for making me aware of it!
