How do so many female celebs in their late 40s and early 50s look so fab?

I am thinking Appleton sisters , Melanie Sykes , Victoria B, Liz Hurley , Amanda Holden ..

How at a time when they must be peri or menopausal do they look so young and slim?

Money.
This is Rihanna before fame and fortune granted her access to styling, beauty treatments, polishing and perfection. Money turns raw coal into diamonds every day.

I think a lot of these women have home gyms in their big houses now, and eat salad and drink health drinks all day, but they will probably tell you that they eat pizzas and burgers and chips all the time.. You do see some of them in the papers sometimes, after being snapped by the paps, when they are just walking along the streets of London wherever, and with no make up on, and jogging trousers and tops on, and hair scraped back etc, then they look like everyone else.

Surgery - doesn’t have to be anything huge and face altering. A tuck of this, a filler here etc. that and staying in shape. And of course some are just really good looking and then are some of the lucky people that get to keep their figure and not get too beat going into middle age.

SomeFineDay · 15/11/2021 03:36

@Blueskip

I always thought Amanda H was one of the ones who had had it done in a less totally noticeable way. Funny.

CheekyHobson · 15/11/2021 03:51

Half the reason they became celebrities in the first place is that they are in the upper 1-2 percent of conventional attractiveness. Like, Saffron Burrows is only a moderately well-known actress but when I saw her walking down the street once many years ago (not knowing who she was at the time), people were literally tripping over themselves looking at her because she is so ludicrously beautiful in real life.

Then looking good is literally part of their job. So they invest more time/money/effort into looking good because they get a financial return on it.

Third, I am willing to bet that lighting, posing and filters do a lot of heavy lifting.

This, was having a!chat with my Dsis yesterday, she was moaning about her hands/nails. I am a doctor, I need well cared for hands, it's part of my job. Therefore if I garden I use gloves, I have never bitten my nails, I use decent hand cream and wear gloves outside Nov-April. I look after them because I need them. Also it would be socially unacceptable to have dirty/chipped nails etc.

PinkMochi · 15/11/2021 06:39

Victoria Beckham has an eating disorder and Amanda Holden is almost 100% plastic from all the surgery and “tweakments”. It’s so obvious. Melanie Sykes looks good though!

PinkMochi · 15/11/2021 06:46

@MsTSwift Kate Beckinsale definitely does NOT look like she’s in her early 20s. You can tell she’s in her 40s. I’m in my 20s and Kate looks 20 years older.

Yusanaim · 15/11/2021 06:57

After Judy Murray got her neck done I realised that whatever wrinkle, sag or bag you have can now be fixed by surgery - It's like magic really as there is no scar line visible.
I'm sure they can do upper arms, chest (upper bit that gets too much sun), in fact anywhere - many men too can be seen to have had stuff done.

For actors though it must limit their roles a bit - you can't be a hard worn 19th Century peasant if you are wrinkle free with gleaming white teeth.

BurnedToast · 15/11/2021 06:59

They were better than average looking to start with.

It's their job to look good.

They have the money for Botox etc.

You're only seeing the photos they want you to see.

OldPodge · 15/11/2021 07:18

Given all the stuff that people have said, I’m not sure I would swap places with any celebrity. The pressure of living up to all those expectations!
I’m happy being old, fat, ugly and loved exactly as I am.
Not that I would judge others who want to make an effort to feel good! All credit to you Grin

They have people to advise them on how to work with their skin and body type. They don't have menial jobs that take a toll on the body. Less likely to have financial stresses so can eat healthier and pay for help. For example, if they have children they can afford childcare/nannies or have a cleaner meaning they have time to focus on themselves.

Sprostongreen21 · 15/11/2021 07:29

I’d imagine they don’t work 13 hour days 3/4 days a week in a stressful environment. They have money which can help with childcare/cleaning/household chores, aesthetics and beauty treatments, holidays and more relaxation.

Their presenting jobs aren’t that kind of physical labour so not knackering the body in the same way. Access to private healthcare if needed. Time to go to the gym or exercise. Weight wise is probably genetics and not eating much plus gym.

Malibuismysecrethome · 15/11/2021 07:50

Most celebrities and especially actresses I have met have been minute. Kim Kardashian is very short.
When you see them papped check out how big they are compared to their cars.

Blueskip · 15/11/2021 08:38

Amanda Holden is stunning but she no longer looks like a real person. She's got that samey plastic surgery look that celebrities get when they've had loads of work done.

gogohm · 15/11/2021 08:51

Not sure who they all are but some have had significant surgery and look really false now, certainly not beautiful. I would suggest however there's some lovely natural looking women in their 40's and 50's on tv news for instance

nannybeach · 15/11/2021 10:31

Don't see how it's rude for me to day MS looks skeletal, and different to other comments. I wasn't going by photographs, easily airbrushed,5 years ago she look good healthy, the TV program a few weeks ago, about saving money and the planet, her face was gaunt, her boobs gone

toecoffin · 15/11/2021 12:07

I hate this obsession with women aging

Eat well, exercise, sleep and find fulfillment and you will look the best you can whilst still aging. Which is natural and beautiful in its own way

I think all this fake shit just makes you look insecure and desperate.

I am in my 40s and train in martial arts. I am mobile, strong and healthy. I don't give a shit about wrinkles or grey hairs and I certainly won't be trying to compare with women half my age. The young have a youthful beauty that can't be replicated despite all the plastic surgery in the world. Deal with it. Let the young have their time and embrace the great things about age. It's a privilege to grow older.

Stop looking at these celebrities and comparing yourself. They were either already more beautiful to begin with or they've spent a lot of money or their photos are air brushed. I suppose it's their job but I couldn't be arsed with it.

To me a woman growing older naturally is graceful and oozes confidence. Nothing wrong with looking after yourself and looking your best but that doesn't have to mean the absence of the obvious and natural signs of aging

Blueskip · 15/11/2021 13:42

Totally agree with all of that

Gilmoregale · 15/11/2021 14:04

Money. Flattering lighting. Skilled make up artists and stylists. Working out for 5-6 hours a day and eating only lettuce leaves. Camera filters. Airbrushing. Not moving their facial muscles much. If you bumped into them in the supermarket without their make up on, in their jogging bottoms, you'd probably not recognise them.

Cocolapew · 15/11/2021 14:13

I follow some Instagram thingys and the amount of young celebs getting plastic surgery is unreal, all late teens or early 20's. Nose jobs, brow lifts, lips fillers and eye surgery as well as boobs and bums.
The photos are filtered to hell as well.
I think this generation of celebs are going to look much older than their actual age once they hit their 40's, Kylie Jenner looks to be in her 30's in RL, her fillers are awful.
