How do so many female celebs in their late 40s and early 50s look so fab?

I am thinking Appleton sisters , Melanie Sykes , Victoria B, Liz Hurley , Amanda Holden ..

How at a time when they must be peri or menopausal do they look so young and slim?

It's their job to look like that.

A bit like asking why racehorses never look like the donkeys at Blackpool

HarryHarryHarry3 · 14/11/2021 20:03

They have time and money and resources to spend on their looks.

Their jobs aren’t especially challenging or stressful.

They (probably) drink a lot of water and eat well and exercise.

justgettingonwith · 14/11/2021 20:05

They're amazing, but it's part of their job to look fab.

I thought Davina was ultra slim but then you see her next to Amanda Holden on the JD Williams ads and you realise how tiny Amanda actually is.

I disagree that it's down to money.
I'm 50, but beyond entering menopause as I had a hysterectomy in my late 30s. So officially 'old'

I'm very slim, with good, wrinkle free skin and am often told I look bloody great/amazing.

I watch what I eat but definitely don't starve myself, get as much sleep as I can and rarely drink alcohol.

I wear cheap make up but know what suits me and my skincare is all from Aldi.
I even cut and colour my own - so definitely no big spending over here!

brittleheadgirl · 14/11/2021 20:07

*hair!!!

mistermagpie · 14/11/2021 20:09

Slimness is relatively cheap and easy to achieve (for the able bodied) if you are willing to work at it and not eat much.

The general 'not looking old' bit is probably expensive treatments, Botox, fillers, surgery etc. It's not stuff a normal person will be getting done regularly.

Apparently a lot of celebrities have facelifts very young (around early 40s). They do it before thing start to sag, rather than correcting it once it sags! Then it will look as though they’re just ageing really well.

RubyTuesday70 · 14/11/2021 20:17

I'd bet a fair bit of money that they don't look like that in real life.

Lots of exercise, healthy, clean diet, little or no alcohol, lots of sleep...... I'm 51 in a couple of weeks, and this was taken two weeks ago. I'm also menopausal 😢

@Antonia2021
Of course I'm not! And I actually think Amanda Holden has had way too much work done and certainly isn't a look I'm after.

I wasn't suggesting I look as good as a stunning celeb but disagreeing that once a woman hits menopause money is her only hope!

I don't want to share my face on here but I know I look good.
Believe me after spending most of my 20s trying to get past the awful bullying I suffered because of how I looked at school - it feels great to love how I look now and for others to be so complimentary about me!

Anoisagusaris · 14/11/2021 20:21

I wonder are their egos quite as big as some on this thread.

cherrypie66 · 14/11/2021 20:22

I'm guessing that maybe aimed at me?

What is your issue with a women feeling good about themselves as they age. Shouldn't that be celebrated?

Give your head a wobble and start supporting other women, not knocking them down Hmm

doadeer · 14/11/2021 20:24

Lots of reasons.

Money for constant facial treatments. Best beauty products.

Fitness and nutrition - can afford great food delivered or cooked for them.

Access to best fitness and exercise coaches

Lots of filtering and good lighting.

And probably a big element... Because they "have to" - they are under crippling pressure to look good and not have off days.

Bunce1 · 14/11/2021 20:26

missatkins you look incredible!

Bunce1 · 14/11/2021 20:28

I watch what I eat exercise lots and drink very little. Look after my skin. Wear nice clothes and am interested in beauty/fashion trends.

I look good.

I’m not beauty but I pass for ten years younger.

Bunce1 · 14/11/2021 20:29

I think nutrition is key

I mean Liz Hurley looks incredible for her age (56?)

Amanda Holden was on QVC this week. She can barely register emotion or change facial expression ‘for some reason’.
So that’ll be why.

They call it maintenance. Whatever they need to do in order to stay 'relevant' is part of their life.

I think it is a shame when the plastic surgery goes too far, and wonder why nobody ( family etc)tells them?

Looking at Simon Cowell on the Pride of Britain awards the other night was shocking. I mean he did look OK until he went down the plastic route.

Whyamistilltired · 14/11/2021 20:34

It seems so obvious to me, they are far more beautiful to begin with. They are able to maintain that aura as they grow older, is that not really obvious?
