Just that really

What age would you think did this drawing?
OP posts:
Wizzbangfizz · 11/11/2021 22:39

4?

Peanutbuttercupisyum · 11/11/2021 22:41

I’d say y1.
My Y3 and y5 dc would add more detail

pasbeaucoupdegendarme · 11/11/2021 22:42

Based on what my dd9 brought home for the “you must buy me” Christmas card, I’d say about Y6!

RainbowToes · 11/11/2021 22:42

The writing is neat and the colouring accurate.
I'd say 8 or 9.

coachmylife · 11/11/2021 22:43

what shocks me a bit is that i totally assumed it was done by a girl not a boy. Why would that be?! I guess I think it's very neat, but also very simple. Anyway, shows up my preconceptions a bit uncomfortably!

Hollyhead · 11/11/2021 22:43

I think there are some low responses here. Looks like the kind of thing my DS would do and he’s 9.

Formel · 11/11/2021 22:43

That's better than I'd have done at 11 and I have ASD.

I am terrible at art because I am unable to visualise, so any drawings I do have to be quite formulaic as the present and the tree are in this. I was well into my 30s before I learned that "my mind's eye" wasn't just a metaphor and some people can actually create images in their minds!

Zebracat · 11/11/2021 22:44

I really like it. Has a graphic, cleanness. I think it could be an older child, maybe a teenager?

MissCruellaDeVil · 11/11/2021 22:44

5/6

Lifeisaminestrone · 11/11/2021 22:46

I don’t think younger children so stick men though so I guess slightly older 9?

ladygindiva · 11/11/2021 22:46

@Underthestairsbears

My DS is almost 11 and couldn't draw as nearly as that, but he can wipe the floor with me at Maths. I'm not sure assessing his drawings is the best way to figure out where he is or if he's on the spectrum.
This. My 23 year old dd would probably draw like this now, definitely NT but her talents always lay elsewhere.
caringcarer · 11/11/2021 22:47

6

nc198567 · 11/11/2021 22:48

I was going to say 5-6.

I'd also be concerned if an 11yo drew this but hey, we can't all be artists or good at drawing.

Amazing isn't it. That some people have this weird superpower of being able to see pictures inside their head.
Myusernameisnotmyusernameno · 11/11/2021 22:51

5-6

crackoos · 11/11/2021 22:52

It is very neat, which indicates an older child, and there is some character in the figures in the bottom, the man is without a face which might be significant unless it is a gingerbread biscuit, which it probably is. What you might be thinking about is composition, that the choice of subject and composition is young, and it might be, but not in a worrying way. My eldest dc is a bit younger and draws amazing pictures - I got an A for my art A level but he is quite honestly better than me in relation to drawing and composition, and cleverer at school - but he still might be on the spectrum. Not been assessed as yet.

Can you say more about what you are worried about here, why you are asking?

Singinginshower · 11/11/2021 22:53

I'd say 15

KlaraSun · 11/11/2021 22:53

scrivette · 11/11/2021 22:54

It's similar to what my DS would do and he is 10. His drawings are very basic and often draws stick men when drawing people.

BilberryBaggins · 11/11/2021 22:55

It's so variable;

DS1 - age 9
Dd - age 5
DS2 - age 3
DS3 - still not quite there at 11....

To be fair @NowWhatUsernameShallIHave it's about all I can manage and I'm not autistic or delayed in anything but artistic ability. Definitely not blessed in that department!

Watchingyouwazowski · 11/11/2021 23:00

My autistic child could barely hold a pencil. My friend’s autistic child draws like its real life.
Is it your child being assessed? It feels horrible. I over analysed everything with my first. It was a very difficult process to go through. Hope you are ok, OP.

Sweetandsaltycaroline · 11/11/2021 23:00

My DS is 12 with no additional needs and probably would do a similar level of drawing but not as neat colouring. DD would have done something like that at around 8 probably.

RhondaZ · 11/11/2021 23:03

@CommonPersonLikeMe

OP I really hope that you are not posting for validation that your child is super amazing and x amount of years ahead of their time. I have seen posts like that before and it never ends well. Some people will think it is amazing and others will tell you that their child was doing this and more years before yours. Honestly, it’s a lovely picture. Just enjoy it.
I don't think the OP is.

My son at 15 can not draw like me but his Uncle is amazing. We do stick men.
