I don't know if I'm in awe or outraged Grin

My kid has just given me the most epic Christmas list

Where can you get the great big teddy? I would like one myself! 😊

kwiksavenofrillsusername · 11/11/2021 17:02

My DS once asked for ‘Christmas beans’. Never did get an answer to what they were.

I’d buy him a gigantic rapper-style fake diamond necklace!

ScotsMumOf4 · 11/11/2021 17:14

@idontlikealdi 😂😂

@catinboots123 I'm quite impressed with the organisation of it 😅. My dd once handed me a list with £500 in makeup alone... she was 11 🤦‍♀️

name3958 · 11/11/2021 17:20

"Don't get because very expensive" but will love you forever if you do 😂😂

sarah13xx · 11/11/2021 17:21

😂😂 don’t get cause expensive but il he’s written them anyway just in case you fancy getting him a real diamond chain

EyesAsGreenAsAFreshPickledToad · 11/11/2021 17:29

Huh? Is it Opposite Day on mumsnet today? Normally this kind of post would be met with, “your child is a grabby spoilt brat. My dc only want a cabbage for Christmas. Cheeky sods will only get half of one each, that will teach them not to be greedy.”

LowlandLucky · 11/11/2021 17:30

I love the fact he still wants a teddy

ShirleyPhallus · 11/11/2021 17:34

@mam0918

Lists baffle me... I never did them, my kids have never done them and I just don't get it, it strikes me rude and entitled (even more so when it's adults doing them).

when my DS was 11 he announced verbally at dinner one day he would like the brand new (about to be released back then) Iphone for Xmas.

I think the response of everyone laughing was his very clear answer to that (he already has a £500+ Samsung phone that he NEVER uses and the matching smartwatch, speaker dock thing and other accessories) turns out it's only because kids at school were bragging that they asked for one, he didn't even really want anything like that he just wanted to 'keep up' with what the other kids were doing.

If my kid ever did do a list I would not bow and break to buying stupid things... I would pick one, I googled the mini speakers on this list and looks like they're £20 so I and would maybe pick something like that.

I actually don't find the diamond request crazy, diamonds don't HAVE to cost the earth... I was gifted a diamond tennis bracelet and earrings not much older but they're no fun, they just sit in the safe, certainly arent rocking diamonds to school or to show your friends.

This must be today’s premium MN comment.

Humble brag o clock!

It’s because it’s a genuine wish list, complete with a clear understanding that it’s definitely not all going to happen and also consideration of cost/reasonableness factor, not just an entitled, grabby and rude demands list.

@idontlikealdi

Brilliant. My 10 year olds is

iPhone 13
Horse
iPad Pro
Horse
Horse
Air Force 1s
Horse
Horse stuff
Pjs
£20 Claire's voucher
Horse
Perfect pet

I'm going to be honest, I think 6 horses will need more than one lot of horse stuff!
ReginaaPhalange · 11/11/2021 17:38

My DSD this year gave me a list which had 2 things on it:

  1. For me and my family to be happy and healthy
  2. To have a health baby brother. To be fair, she is getting a baby brother at the end of January :)

But it didn't help me and DH on what to buy her! Even now she's still saying "I dunno" lol!!

Echinops · 11/11/2021 17:45

Nephew laminated his list one year. We've not forgotten.

Please tell me this is not serious??

And if it is, how utterly disrespectful of an 11 announcing what he would like, when he's got a perfectly good £500+ Samsung Phone as it is. How bloody entitled is he, that he doesn't appreciate what he has?

Spoilt, springs to mind!

Why would you scrimp on diamonds and speakers, when your child has a £500+ phone he doesn't use?

Daftasabroom · 11/11/2021 17:50

We got a list of Lego product and brick codes one year.

Nothing wrong with Lego. I still have mine, and it's nearly 40! Shock
PollyWobbles · 11/11/2021 18:01

@ShoesCoatandBag fuck me that's miserable isn't it? A box of chocolates and a book - and you include his dinner in his gifts 😀

Can't you just actually get him some gifts? Use your imagination?

RussianSpy101 · 11/11/2021 18:04

@ShirleyPhallus that was my favourite bit too 😂😂😂

ReginaaPhalange · 11/11/2021 18:19

Can I write a list and put Lego on it for me? Lol!!

NeverDropYourMoonCup · 11/11/2021 18:19

@ssd

This is brilliant.

Remember the days when a few things out the Disney store was enough?!?

I remember the price of the things at the Disney Store. And that what most kids really wanted was a pile of Disney toys large enough to hurl themselves into like an overpriced, fluffy ball pit, so 'only' asked for about 150 quids' worth of the bastarding things instead.
BigSandyBalls2015 · 11/11/2021 18:27

@PollyWobbles 🤣I was thinking exactly the same! Christ 😳

SpookyPumpkinPants · 11/11/2021 18:32

@StealthRoast

This is adorable. I love the categories and the use of REAL for emphasis. My 10 year old dd handed me hers a few weeks back and was kind enough to add the total up for me Grin
Lucy's going to go far! Organised, Artistic, optimistic...
SpookyPumpkinPants · 11/11/2021 18:37

@AlfonsoTheUnrepentant

MNers children.

Not MNers. I'm not that generous.

It may well be cheaper to buy for the MNers than their children!!
fairgame84 · 11/11/2021 18:42

Me and dbro used to put prices and argos page numbers next to everything on our lists.
Except for my number one request which was always 'horse'. I miss those days.

Azra12 · 11/11/2021 18:46

Got to give it to him/her for their optimism and it's so cute Smile

mam0918 · 11/11/2021 18:55

@HighlandCowbag

My 7 year old ds put VR headset, gaming pc, VR something else, a camera to record his own videos and a YouTube account on his list. When I googled VR headset and saw the price I said it was out of budget. He sighed and said he would just borrow the money and pay me back when he becomes a YouTuber. Kids got ambitions.
My teen is like that, his most wanted thing is a youtube account so he can be a 'famous youtube, it's free tbf but I'm just wary of the whole thing.

Likely next to no one will watch a random kid's videos about gaming but it could possibly go viral or turn into cyberbullying and that scares me.
