I work with adults.

Many of said adults now are arriving into our service with birthdates in the 2000s. How can anyone born after the millennium already be an adult, it was like, 10 years ago.

mumonthehill · 09/11/2021 09:41

My friend and I had a day out shopping, when we got back into the car we both groaned as our knees hurt!!!

Freshprincess · 09/11/2021 09:48

I had to access an online thing for work and the date stopped and 1980. They had to add me manually. I’m 50!

I was chatting to a twenty something colleague who was talking about being allowed to use WiFi when he was I’m in sixth form! We only had 6 Computers in the whole college and you only had one lesson per term on them.

My godchildren going to Uni!

My peer group becoming grandparents. (I have a teenager as I started the parenting thing later than most of my friends).

saltontoast · 09/11/2021 10:03

My 21 year old sister and absolutely everything she says.

Fashion.

LaBellina · 09/11/2021 10:05

When I see 90’s fashion being in again and I think oh yes, I remember when it was in fashion for the first time around.

When I watch Downton Abby and remember that my grandparents were born in this era.

Saying 'oof' when I get out of my chair.

Realising that "thirty years ago" doesn't mean 1970

A poster whose username I recognised said "I've never heard of livejournal"

ZingDramaQueenOfSheeba · 09/11/2021 10:27

realising when certain films were released.

when Die Hard turned 30 in 2018 I was in shock🤣
we watch it every Christmas Eve and every year DH & I ritually shake our heads at smoking in the airport lounge, mentions of VHS & casette tape, old lady's taser on the plane etc.

we are both Gen X. It's crazy that our kids have never used a Walkman or a tape recorder!

Going to a museum and seeing my first camera in one of the displays!

Needing a coffee and sit down break on shopping trips (clothes/Xmas rather than supermarket!).

pinkhighlight · 09/11/2021 10:53

Realising Brad Pitt is in his 50's I'm always like how did this happen.

Sparklfairy · 09/11/2021 10:56

mentions of VHS & casette tape

I saw a video recently where kids of about 10/12 were handed a cassette and a walkman. They had no idea what it was or what to do with it. When one finally got the cassette in the walkman and it started to play, they were really put out and bewildered that you couldn't shuffle through the songs Grin

garlictwist · 09/11/2021 10:57

When I see the dates of birth of the students I work with - the 21st century! How are they not babies?!

garlictwist · 09/11/2021 10:57

@fudgecat

Handles to wind the windows in cars 😁
I still have these in my car!
Sparklfairy · 09/11/2021 10:59

Oh I think I've found it!

Shoobydooer · 09/11/2021 11:06

The anniversaries of albums coming out. Ten years... twenty years... now some of my favourites are passing 30 years!

When you think about that relative to gap between that and eg discovering Led Zep as a 90s teen it's mad.

Helpsortmylife · 09/11/2021 11:10

My face Grin

My body getting stiffer and sorer [sad face]

My child examining her grandparent's old chequebook as though it were a holy ancient artefact.

My oldest child hitting a milestone birthday this year. And I will bet that milestone is older than many of the people on this thread. Smile

MissAmbrosia · 09/11/2021 11:15

Have tickets to see the Human League this month (postponed from last year) to celebrate Dare being released 40 years ago! We still play it often.

Dd2 in the supermarket recently, telling a stranger who asked how old she was (I'm nearly 6) I almost corrected her by saying no your only 3😂😂😂
All the way home I kept thinking how can she be 6.
My nephew had his 3rd child last week and I clearly remember him being born.
My age, I'm 44 how did that happen.
