TRIGGER WARNING!!

Wtf have I just seen on Twitter?! I won't post a link, but you can Google it if you actually want to, although I should say it made me weep with rage!

Some absolutely vile excuse for a human being decided to kick and punch a horse for wandering off. It's shocking.

My blood is boiling! How dare they?! What will happen to them? Please someone tell me they will be at the very least, banned from ever owning an animal of any kind ever again.

What is the matter with people? Seriously need my faith restoring in humanity today.

Angry Angry

@treguffin

I think the lack of reaction was probably more to do with not wanting to appear on the sabs video - they are really intimidating.
The hunters don't like to feel intimidated 🥺😪 oh dear.

I won’t name her here, as it is widely reported that she is a senior member of staff of a Primary School. The Teachers’ Standards has a Part B, which is concerned with Professional and Personal Conduct. If a teacher is committed of a crime and/or acts in such a way in their personal life as to bring the profession into disrepute, they can be brought to a hearing and even barred from teaching. It’s almost certain that she would lose her job. In the first instance an email of concern should be sent to the school in question. This can then be self referred (if necessary) here. Imagine this person being in charge of the safety and development of 8 year olds?! www.gov.uk/guidance/teacher-misconduct-referring-a-case

@treguffin

Yes, I don't hunt any more, but this isn't about hunting - its animal cruelty - its irrelevant whether she hunts illegally or not.
Are you seriously trying to say fox hunting isn't animal cruelty?
treguffin · 09/11/2021 13:04

Are you seriously trying to say fox hunting isn't animal cruelty?

I am saying one doesn't necessarily mean the other.

I think angling is cruel but I don't expect that the blokes who pull hooks out of fish's mouths while they gasp for breath on land are going home and kicking the cat.

You differentiated between fox hunting and animal cruelty, implying fox hunting isn't cruelty. I'm saying it is.

This woman’s behaviour looks wrong. It should be investigated by the police. If she is guilty (we have only seen a short clip so do not know what the run up was) she shoukd be punished in accordance with the law.

But since when has the punishment for alleged animal cruelty in UK been public shaming in the national newspapers so that an angry mob can work out where you live and work and likely set upon you and your family?

People accused of far worse crimes - eg violence against women and children - are not outed in this way. They get their day in court.

EvilPea · 09/11/2021 13:26

I too feel uncomfortable with the mob mentality however our laws and subsequent prosecution are woeful and don’t follow through on giving them that day in court.

As a side note I don’t think they are worse crimes, for me hurting an innocent animal like that is the same as if she’s punched and kicked her child. But I do appreciate that’s my opinion not everyone’s.

What do you mean the run up. There is nothing a pony could do to deserve that assault.

And the fact folks are not named and shamed for other crimes doesn’t some how mean neither should she. And quite frankly when someone does publicly assault someone and it’s caught on video it does often make the media and people named and many violent offenders named. Simply there is too bloody many of them to name them all.

I really don’t think it’s right though people saying it means everyone on th hunt abuses their horses and beats them, yes fox hunting is cruel but it doesn’t stand to reason they all beat their horses as this woman did.

TheFormidableMrsC · 09/11/2021 13:44

I know somebody who is guilty of horrendous animal cruelty to horses, has been reported repeatedly, has hidden animals in distant fields to avoid detection. RSPCA have done exactly bugger all. This was despite the extensive photographic evidence and also pictures of cruelty to a dog. Multiple reports from many varied parties made no difference it seems.

There appears to be very little for people like this to be afraid of. I agree it's a sign of a psychopath. Disgusting people.

Without condoning animal cruelty are you seriously suggesting that what the woman did is the same as crimes against children, sexual abuse, murder, torture etc?

Do you have children? I can't believe that anyone who has a child thinks punching a horse is equal to someone abusing or murdering their child.

EvilPea · 09/11/2021 13:59

Yes I have children.
Yes as I said I view what she did to that horse as the same as punching and kicking a child.
If she murdered that innocent horse on that video. I would see it as the same as murdering an innocent child.

But I know not everyone holds their views

FindingMeno · 09/11/2021 14:03

Haven't seen it and will avoid it.
Doesn't surprise me if it's a member of the hunt.
They've no regard for anything other than themselves, least of all for animals.

EvilPea · 09/11/2021 14:03

It’s not a reflection of how little I feel about children. But more how i feel animals are our equal.

Which is probably why our laws are the way they are
There’s people who feel like I do. And people who believe like she does. And a whole spectrum inbetween. With a food chain and production blurring the lines.

Mythroatisstillsore · 09/11/2021 14:05

Please don't worry! Smile I've done it before too x

Platax · 09/11/2021 14:19

I find the reaction of hunt people to hunt sabs hilarious - they really can't get their heads around the fact that the sabs are now on the side of the law; or indeed that there would be nothing for the sabs to monitor if hunts complied with the law.

GoingForAWalk · 09/11/2021 14:24

The woman is deranged

Why on earth did she feel the need to kick and punch a perfectly placid horse.

Baffling.

I hope she is suitably punished.

Dreadful woman.

Or if the law was enforced
UpThePodge · 09/11/2021 16:22

@treguffin You make some very good points. You can't be selective of who you prosecute. It's either abuse or its not
The hunt sabs have gone public, but how many have privately handed over video evidence to the police - we have no idea
Not everyone wants publicity for trying to do what they think is the right thing to do

NeverEnoughCake2 · 09/11/2021 17:36

There's now a statement on the website of the school saying that a "member of staff has been suspended pending a formal investigation into an incident that occurred at the weekend."

So at least she's not in charge of anyone's children at the moment. However, I still feel sorry for the horses she'll be going home to.

Viviennemary · 09/11/2021 18:01

I did watch it. Horrific. Much worse than Imexpected. Evil monster.

Good. I think they had to. Not just from the public outcry but would you want her teaching your kid? And thr children will know what she did. Her career won’t be over, but I suspect she will need to move school. Her position is basically untenable.

I couldn’t agree more. Her life is ruined. Not sure what else people would like to see happen now…
treguffin · 09/11/2021 20:13

Totally agree. The mob rule is the most frightening thing about this

Cherrysoup · 09/11/2021 20:32

There's really no need to email her school. What for? Do you think they're not aware of what's gone on or do you think that by wading in you'll make a real difference here?

Yet on social media, people are sharing the link to do so. Like a randomer emailing the school will persuade management to sack her!

The pitchforks are out on social media, which I understand but even if she were prosecuted (highly unlikely given the ‘minor’ nature of the incident-I know it isn’t minor to many people) then it would be very unlikely to result in a custodial sentence.

I thoroughly echo a pp who said anyone who eats meat should pipe down: put down the bacon that was asphyxiated for your pleasure!

Bluntness100 · 09/11/2021 20:32

Her life isn’t ruined, she will start again some place else when it all dies down

Personally I think she should be prosecuted and banned from keeping animals ever again.
