TRIGGER WARNING!!

Wtf have I just seen on Twitter?! I won't post a link, but you can Google it if you actually want to, although I should say it made me weep with rage!

Some absolutely vile excuse for a human being decided to kick and punch a horse for wandering off. It's shocking.

My blood is boiling! How dare they?! What will happen to them? Please someone tell me they will be at the very least, banned from ever owning an animal of any kind ever again.

What is the matter with people? Seriously need my faith restoring in humanity today.

@RutlandVasey

In other news, a 10 year old boy went to his friend’s house and was mailed to death by their illegal breed dog. Perhaps the same level of outrage will help make these deaths a thing of the past.
Yes, where's the social media outing of the dog owners?
Spiceup · 10/11/2021 07:25

Whilst in isolation the attack in the horse is abhorrent, I don't think it would ordinarily have seen her suspended from her teaching job. It's the sort of thing that can be used against people when there are already problems with them. E.g where I work drink driving can be gross misconduct and a sackable offence, but in practice it's only used for people who have other issues (as drinkers often do).

I suspect similar here. It's unlikely someone who can be so aggressive towards a horse is a valued member of school staff.

NeverDropYourMoonCup · 10/11/2021 07:31

If the vegans on here were to be taken at face value, ie, that nobody who eats animal products has any business getting involved, hunting would be fully legal, as would bear baiting, dog fighting, cock fighting, home slaughter, whaling, seal clubbing and drowning puppies. Because omnivores form the majority of society.

It's almost as though they don't want anybody to want to improve animal welfare unless it's them - which means in practice that it won't be.

Holding on to a claim of special status as the Only People Who Care about Animals and aggressively verbally attacking people who do not think it's acceptable to kill foxes for fun or give a pony a punch in the head is a surefire of ensuring that more animals are harmed.

@NeverDropYourMooncup

Excellent post, as the majority of society is omnivore, telling them they need to remain silent when they witness animal abuse or cruelty is not going to make them become vegetarian, it will just drive people to be silent, if if they listen to that drivel. The outcome of which is more animals get hurt. No one should be encouraged to remain silent when they witness abuse.

WeRTheOnesWeHaveBeenWaitingFor · 10/11/2021 07:44

@NeverDropYourMooncup Who is aggressively verbally attacking people?
Improving animal welfare 100% banning fox hunting/bear baiting etc 100% ganging up on one woman (who’s actions were disgusting) to the point that her whole life is completely ruined without knowing anything about her - not so much.
I care about animals but I also care about humans too. She may be suffering from MH issues, she may have PTSD from abuse. We don’t know anything about the women who everyone is rallying round to ruin the life of. Let the actual justice system look at all the facts.

TheOnlyLivingBoyInNewCross · 10/11/2021 07:54

@Rangoon

This has turned into a mob. I do hope everyone who is putting the boot into this woman is a vegetarian and preferrably vegan. It would be just too hypocritical if you're planning to sit down tonight to a nice lamb chop. I imagine the woman concerned may have a lot to live through and lets hope she can continue to afford yard fees for that horse.
I hope that if she were your child’s teacher then that you would not have any qualms about sending your Yr 3 child into her care and that you wouldn’t even email the school with any concerns as that would just be too hypocritical given what you’ve said here.
treguffin · 10/11/2021 08:02

I wouldn't email the school, no. I'd let them do whatever they think is appropriate and not feel the pressure to ruin someone's life because the mob has emailed in.

Bluntness100 · 10/11/2021 08:13

Why do some small minority of people keep saying oh don’t gang up till her life is ruined. She would not be in this position if she had not violently abused an animal in her care. And anyone who does this sort of thing, who abuses animals in my, and many other peoples opinions should not be teaching young children.

If her “life is ruined” it is one hundred percent due to her own actions. She was punching that horse in thr head for gods sake. Kicking it in thr chest. She should never be allowed near young children or animals again. The sole root cause of her current predicament is the fact she’s a violent animal abuser.

Well this sets a very dangerous precedent if you are going to allow people on the Internet to destroy people after they've been shown a piece of video, taken by someone with an agenda, without waiting for due legal process.
Derbee · 10/11/2021 08:32

@treguffin, yes the problem with the video is that it was taken by someone with an agenda Hmm

Video might just be out of context, and the kicking the horse in the chest, and punching the horse in the face was justified Confused

What a ridiculous way to see it.

Of course it's not ridiculous. It's just that this time the person with the agenda happens to be one you agree with. And my comment was about destroying someone's life through a social media witch hunt. It's always good to question what you see.

I am as it goes but if you can’t see that there’s a difference between eating meat and what this woman did and your head goes to whether she can afford the yard fees, it’s a worry.
treguffin · 10/11/2021 08:45

The horse being able to be kept where it is used to is probably even more important to its well being long term tbh.

There is no justification for kicking a horse in the chest, and punching it in the face, regardless of your stance on hunting etc. The “agenda” argument is complete bollocks.

treguffin · 10/11/2021 09:09

And the police and rspca will deal with it.

Are you honestly saying there's no agenda here? Why on earth was she being videoed? They weren't even out hunting, just boxing up the horses at the end of the day. Why would anyone want to video that if they didn't have an agenda?

Derbee · 10/11/2021 09:16

She was being filmed because she’s part of a cruel and unnecessary sport that a lot of people have objections to. She punched and kicked her horse of her own accord. It was caught on camera because she was being filmed. But there was only something to catch on camera because she decided to punch and kick her horse.

Seriously? If she kicks, slaps and punches the poor horse in the face in front of her peers, what does she feel free to do behind closed doors?
treguffin · 10/11/2021 09:20

That's not something that anyone can judge.

She was an idiot and obviously has a very bad temper. She wasn't doing anything illegal before she hit her horse. No need to have been videoed.
Upyouranty · 10/11/2021 09:34

For me it’s actually more worrying that the woman behaved the way she did in full view of witnesses.

How does she behave when no one is around?

The woman in the video abused that horse and we are supposed to trust her with our equally vulnerable children?

No chance.

Upyouranty · 10/11/2021 09:35

When someone shows you who they are believe them.

Viviennemary · 10/11/2021 09:45

Nobody has come forward saying what a lovely gentle kind person shd is reslly. Hmm

WildExcuses · 10/11/2021 10:26

Why would anyone want to video that if they didn't have an agenda?

I’ve heard that they have seen the horses being abused on previous occasions whilst putting the horses in their boxes so the sabs were trying to get evidence of this hence the filming. Sounds fair enough to me.

Derbee · 10/11/2021 10:29

The agenda really is irrelevant. Anyone could film me with any animal, and wouldn’t get ANY footage of me kicking or punching it. No matter how long they filmed for
