TRIGGER WARNING!!

Wtf have I just seen on Twitter?! I won't post a link, but you can Google it if you actually want to, although I should say it made me weep with rage!

Some absolutely vile excuse for a human being decided to kick and punch a horse for wandering off. It's shocking.

My blood is boiling! How dare they?! What will happen to them? Please someone tell me they will be at the very least, banned from ever owning an animal of any kind ever again.

What is the matter with people? Seriously need my faith restoring in humanity today.

@Bluntness100

Her life isn’t ruined, she will start again some place else when it all dies down

Personally I think she should be prosecuted and banned from keeping animals ever again.

Why do you speak with such authority when you can have no idea whether that’s true or not? I don’t agree with you. This will follow her forever. Read Jon Ronson’s “So you’ve been publicly shamed”.
Bluntness100 · 09/11/2021 21:28

It’s just my opinion, in a few weeks months people won’t be thinking about it, yes it will be awkward for awhile, she will likely have to move, find a new job, but in five years she’s doubtfully going to be attracting as much attention as she is now.

I have no sympathy for her. She abused an animal. If her life’s ruined it’s becayse of her own actions, I have no time for people who abuse any living thing, be it adults, children or animals and if they hadn’t been that person they’d not be in thr position they are in when caught.

LondonWolf · 09/11/2021 21:54

Whether or not you have sympathy for her is irrelevant. The point being made is that people commit far worse crimes than that and aren’t outed in this way and judged by The Mob. Her behaviour was uncivilised but so is mob justice. Social media and footage all over it, has replaced the process of rule of law. She should be prosecuted and punished according to the law. As it stands she has been suspended from her job, lost all her social connections and probably cannot even leave her house. Her life as she knows it is over and still people bay for more.

RutlandVasey · 09/11/2021 22:01

She has had to leave her house because of death threats and she fears for the safety of her children.

She does not live in a big house and she is not a rich aristo.

ineedsun · 09/11/2021 22:04

Her behaviour wasn’t uncivilised, it was cruel, petulant and demonstrated a total lack of control.

ineedsun · 09/11/2021 22:14

@treguffin

I think the lack of reaction was probably more to do with not wanting to appear on the sabs video - they are really intimidating.
Seriously? You’re complaining about sabs being intimidating. When hunters chase down innocent creatures until they’re so exhausted that the can’t get away from these frenzied animals who’ve been whipped up to tear them limb from limb.
SexyNeckbeard · 09/11/2021 22:17

@Cherrysoup

There's really no need to email her school. What for? Do you think they're not aware of what's gone on or do you think that by wading in you'll make a real difference here?

Yet on social media, people are sharing the link to do so. Like a randomer emailing the school will persuade management to sack her!

The pitchforks are out on social media, which I understand but even if she were prosecuted (highly unlikely given the ‘minor’ nature of the incident-I know it isn’t minor to many people) then it would be very unlikely to result in a custodial sentence.

I thoroughly echo a pp who said anyone who eats meat should pipe down: put down the bacon that was asphyxiated for your pleasure!

Someone was doing it on this thread too the post got deleted. Very pleased with themselves they were too.
Bluntness100 · 09/11/2021 22:25

Her behaviour was “uncivilised”? Seriously? How to minimise animal cruelty.

She kicked and punched a horse repeatedly . It’s animal abuse. It’s cruel. And it’s unacceptable.

GetInThereLewis · 09/11/2021 22:26

@Peacocking

I agree totally that this is just awful. What I do find even harder to stomach is that anyone who eats meat, eggs or dairy pays for other people to treat animals in a worse way than this on their behalf.

If you're upset by this, then maybe have a think about the animal that's filled your plate today. Watch some films and educate yourself about the life and treatment of farmed creatures (who are every bit as sentient, intelligent and biddable as this horse) and consider how it compares to this film of the woman kicking her horse.

If you buy animal products, you are paying for violence towards animals and it leaves no room for criticism towards this woman

Peacocking 100% this. I just hope one day the public will bestow the same sympathy on ALL animals.

Absolutely! Well said @ineedsun
The despicable bastards who take part in this and find pleasure in it sicken me to my very core and have no right to complain about "intimidation".

They should all be named and shamed along with this lady for partaking in such sickening abuse.

milkyaqua · 10/11/2021 01:21

This will follow her forever.

And so it should.

milkyaqua · 10/11/2021 01:24

Read Jon Ronson’s “So you’ve been publicly shamed”.

It was about people cracking unfortunately timed jokes on twitter and such, and suffering terrible consequences - not about people inflicting abuse on an innocent animal in their charge.

Furries · 10/11/2021 02:42

From the video footage, what she did was wrong - absolutely no doubt about it.

But I’m not comfortable with how insidious social media is nowadays.

Firstly, the person who filmed that - why didn’t they step in or at least say something?

Secondly, they should have sent that footage to the relevant authorities (together with date/location/time etc) rather than posting online.

That woman’s details are now all over the press - her job, where she lives etc.

What she did, in that video, was wrong. But she’s now being “charged by media” rather than through the proper channels.

I’m not condoning what was seen in the footage - but I’m deeply uncomfortable about how easy it is to release something like that and the media onslaught that follows.

milkyaqua · 10/11/2021 02:59

The people filming were 'hunt saboteurs', so in the background of the incident, and hardly in a position to step up and intervene. The relative authorities are involved. Why should she keep her job with powerless children or her pony club role with powerless animals, in the interim?

Rangoon · 10/11/2021 04:15

This has turned into a mob. I do hope everyone who is putting the boot into this woman is a vegetarian and preferrably vegan. It would be just too hypocritical if you're planning to sit down tonight to a nice lamb chop. I imagine the woman concerned may have a lot to live through and lets hope she can continue to afford yard fees for that horse.

milkyaqua · 10/11/2021 04:34

Let's hope that horse is removed from her control, rather.

ginandbearit · 10/11/2021 05:09

People asking why the sabs didnt intervene, well there was a group.of riders milling around who did nothing and she can be seen screaming at the Terriermen who.arrived at the end ...the Terrrier men are tough and enjoy beating up.sabs ( as well.as releasing captured foxes for their masters sport ) , you're still.essentialy dealing with an almost feudal.society within hunts , no one was going to stop her or remonstrate .

Quirrelsotherface · 10/11/2021 06:09

Disgusting piece of shit who is also a teacher?! I'm only glad that it was caught on camera and why was that I wonder. Probably because she has form for it and they wanted it exposed.
She needs to get herself to the GP and get some medication asap for her anger issues.

What's your point? This vile POS was bullying, hitting and kicking a defenceless animal that she was tethered very closely to, whilst staring it in the face?! Not killing it quickly and humanely for food?!

CovidCorvid · 10/11/2021 06:20

If the sabs had jumped in they’d have been accused of assaulting the woman/horse. The hunt would be busy deflecting attention from the real story by blaming it all on the sabs. The terrier men at the Cottesmore are known for physically attacking sabs, they like to ride around on quad bikes wielding chains around their heads while driving at the sabs.

CovidCorvid · 10/11/2021 06:21

For one I certainly hope she can’t afford yard fees anymore. The horse needs removing from her and that would be one way.
Bluntness100 · 10/11/2021 06:33

I’m surprised there is a small minority trying to deflect or minimise the issue here. A woman was videod repeatedly punching a horse in the head, slapping it and kicking it in the chest. Most People are naturally outraged and distressed by what they have witnessed.

If she had not been caught on camera viscously abusing an animal under her care she’d not be in the position she’s in now

Death threats are unacceptable. But I would fully support someone like that is not allowed to teach young children nor keep animals again. The weight of public opinion should be wholly against her. As a society we should always rise up and make our voices heard when we witness animal abuse.

If you tell yourself your meat is always killed quickly and humanely you are lying to yourself. I don’t think people are minimising just trying to remind people that this internet mob mentality can do real life damage. Maybe you believe she deserves everything she gets but what about her kids? What about her parents?
RutlandVasey · 10/11/2021 07:17

In other news, a 10 year old boy went to his friend’s house and was mailed to death by their illegal breed dog. Perhaps the same level of outrage will help make these deaths a thing of the past.

If you wish to discuss your views on vegetarianism maybe start your own thread? And she should have thought of her family before she viscously abused an animal
