TRIGGER WARNING!!

Wtf have I just seen on Twitter?! I won't post a link, but you can Google it if you actually want to, although I should say it made me weep with rage!

Some absolutely vile excuse for a human being decided to kick and punch a horse for wandering off. It's shocking.

My blood is boiling! How dare they?! What will happen to them? Please someone tell me they will be at the very least, banned from ever owning an animal of any kind ever again.

What is the matter with people? Seriously need my faith restoring in humanity today.

*Yes that is clearly a really bad temper tantrum. I mean, the pony was a bit annoying, but her response was completely disproportionate. Hope she looks into HRT after this!

If you've ever paid as much in vet bills as I have over the years then you wouldn't ever dream of kicking a pony and perhaps causing it to be lame. She had clearly absolutely lost it.*

HRT!? She's 37! And the menopause doesnt turn women into animal abusing psychopaths - what a ridiculous and discriminatory suggestion. It's also bizarre that you'd reference veterinary costs as a 'reason' not to kick lumps out of an animal; being a decent human being is, generally, reason enough!

So you don't give a hoot about the pony actually being kicked and hit??

As for the comment about HRT, wtaf??

OhGiveUp · 09/11/2021 12:10

@Trumpisagit It was acceptable to slap your kids 30 years ago, it doesn't make it right or acceptable then or now.

New puppy chewed your shoes? Just boot it across the room, that'll learn it.
Kitten scratched your furniture? Just drop kick it into the neighbours garden, that'll learn it.
Puppy pulling on its lead? Just yank the lead back so hard that you almost snap it's neck, that'll learn it.
There is absolutely no excuse for violence against any animal, none, regardless of the situation.
People who are violent towards animals are probably also violent towards their kids and spouses.
They should be banned from keeping or associating with animals for life.

OhGiveUp · 09/11/2021 12:12

@Mythroatisstillsore Are you seriously telling me that being menopausal is a good enough reason for animal cruelty??
Jesus, I don't even know how to respond to that one!!

OhGiveUp · 09/11/2021 12:15

@Mythroatisstillsore I'm very sorry, my post was to the poster who said that, but unfortunately I had a quote fail.
Please accept my apologies.

Bluntness100 · 09/11/2021 12:25

Why do these things need to turn into a bun fight where a bunch of posters roll in at the last moment and start attacking other posters, ultimately getting the thread deleted.

BlaBlaSmthSmth · 09/11/2021 12:27

@noodlezoodle

Well if she's part of a hunt then by definition one of her hobbies is animal cruelty, so I can't say I'm surprised about this.

I am absolutely raging and fucking horrified though.

Exactly this. And it also explains why no one around her reacted to her abuse. It's 'normal' behaviour in their circle...they're all probably relieved right now that they weren't the ones filmed and exposed.

of course it isnt bizarre. Just referencing it doesn't mean I mean its the only reason not to do it :-/

of course its not normal behaviour, don't be silly

if it were the sabs would have made it public before now!

noone has said that

the woman in the video clearly had a massive loss of temper - i mean a serious breakdown - I am going to go out on limb and say if she has a few nice looking well cared for horses as it seems then I doubt very much she's constantly abusing them - this is no way is trying to excuse her behaviour which was totally shocking and if I'd seen it in RL I would have said something not just stood there filming but there you go

the menopause can cause terrible temper tantrums - of course that doesn't mean all menopausal women are animal abusers - I had a terrible temper pre HRT but never hit/abused anyone or anything.

BlaBlaSmthSmth · 09/11/2021 12:37

Who's being silly? If it was out of the ordinary there would have been some sort of of reaction. Most people seeing animal abuse would have a reaction, their lack of speaks volumes. As I said the rest of them are probably thanking their lucky stars that they haven't been caught and named and shamed.
treguffin · 09/11/2021 12:41

I didn't see anyone else in the video apart from two small children (and obvs the filmers who didnt say anything either), sorry I could have missed a lot of others watching - I don't really want to watch it again as it is really distressing.

Motnight · 09/11/2021 12:42

Yes I have gone through the menopause and often felt the need to kick and hit horses 🙄

treguffin · 09/11/2021 12:43

@blablasmithsmith

the behaviour of the woman in the video isn't normal behaviour

That is like saying because there are people who kick dogs then all dog owners kick dogs.

treguffin · 09/11/2021 12:46

you do realise that sabs are out videoing hunts two or three days a week all around the country? If this was normal behaviour they'd have plenty of footage by now. Usually its just so they can film children then put their pics on their facebook page with abusive comments about them, I'm sure we'd all know about it if they were routinely witnessing people kick their horses.

SpinachIsAGatewayDrug · 09/11/2021 12:47

Agree that the lack of reaction from anyone nearby suggests no one was that surpised or shocked at her behaviour. Maybe it's not ordinary - but no one there reacted as if it were that extraordinary either.

As that hunt group seems to have broken the ribs of one of the filming group (the hunt sabs) only a few weeks earlier, I don't blame them for filming but not trying to 'say something'.

Perhaps not a huge surprise to find that a group who allegedly use violence to get what they want with humans, will also do the same with animals.

treguffin · 09/11/2021 12:48

I think the lack of reaction was probably more to do with not wanting to appear on the sabs video - they are really intimidating.

EvilPea · 09/11/2021 12:52

That poor horse, it did nothing wrong. I woke up thinking about it. I hope she gets prosecuted. I never understand how people are so quick to abuse the trust and love animals give us.

EvilPea · 09/11/2021 12:53

@treguffin

Not half as intimidating as being literally hounded to your death. What a brutal way to go, running for your life .
IsleofRum · 09/11/2021 12:54

Would the person with the camera have hung around Appleby horse fair, or around any less salubrious area? Or are people in a Hunt fair game?

treguffin · 09/11/2021 12:55

Yes, I don't hunt any more, but this isn't about hunting - its animal cruelty - its irrelevant whether she hunts illegally or not.

BlaBlaSmthSmth · 09/11/2021 12:55

No it is absolutely not normal behaviour.

That is a ridiculous comparison. It's more like saying because these people's hobby is cruelty towards one type of animal, it would be unsurprising if that attitude extended to other animals.

People on this very thread have witnessed abusive behaviour from hunters as well as lack of care for their dogs.

treguffin · 09/11/2021 12:56

Appleby horse fair is absolutely shocking for horse welfare but apparently that's fine as they aren't posh I assume

Again - not excusing her - what she did is horrible - but the sabs did fuck all about it either

treguffin · 09/11/2021 12:58

which also doesnt make sense.
