I just had cold potatoes straight from the can.

A Bombay bad boy pot noodle with a peperoni fire stick dunker.

Lalliella · 03/11/2021 22:32

DD had baked beans on toast accompanied by a pork pie and tinned peaches.

Yum!

Not gross, but we had developed a rota of lunches. DP has a new job and is in the office much more so I just have soup, but we were on:

Monday - sausage rolls (ketchup for me, Branstons pickle for him)
Tuesday - scrambled eggs on toast
Wednesday - bacon and Brie sandwich
Thursday - poached egg and beans on a toasted crumpet
Friday - Heinz tomato soup and a grilled ham and cheese sandwich

Routine became absolutely vital for me in the depths of lockdown!

SmellyOldOwls · 03/11/2021 22:56

A can of Lidl meatballs.

I no longer feel like a lonely WFH lunch saddo. Have had a good chuckle - though not sure I'll be eating a nectarine again in a hurry.

Good to know other people also eat toast from bread with the mouldy bits cut off (don't have a cat but if I did would totally not be bothered by nibbled bread), random collections of unrelated food items scrabbled from the fridge/freezer/cupboards, eaten with unhinged jaw, shovelling it in in the10 minutes squeezed between back to back Teams meetings.

Today I ate spreadable cheese with a teaspoon straight from the pot, some Baba Ganoush on slightly stale water biscuits and several Jaffa cakes as dessert. Don't think that meets criteria for gross but certainly isn't a combination I'd repeat through choice.

Mine was previously Aldi chocolate and peanut butter spread, eaten from the jar with a spoon. Or a packet of Aldi fake Oreos, chain dunked into a cup of tea.

It will be no surprise to hear I gained significant weight in the past 18 months. Am now on a diet Smile

@HuntingoftheSnark

A couple of weeks ago I bit into a (fairly old but not mouldy) nectarine. The stone broke in half and a thousand tiny creatures fell out, all over me. Upon googling, these were earwigs and it's not entirely uncommon. That was the most hideous lunch I have ever had and I will never look at a nectarine again.
That's me never eating a nectarine ever again
Excitedforxmas · 03/11/2021 23:05

Cold domino’s

HangingOver · 03/11/2021 23:11

This thread has made me very nostalgic for supernoodle sandwiches.

Cocktail sausages rolls cooked from frozen, with a load of ketchup.

TheRealHousewife · 03/11/2021 23:14

@PearsMorgan

Toast made from bread the cat had been nibbling. I toasted it twice to be safe.
😂😂😂😂 made me proper laugh 😹
Snoopsnoggysnog · 03/11/2021 23:14

Brilliant thread!

Justwhy123 · 03/11/2021 23:25

Aswell as super noodle sandwiches, I will also happily cut the mould of bread and then eat.

Think this might be a childhood thing, seeing my mum do it? Couple of my friends think this is awful. 🤷🏼‍♀️

Beans mixed with salad cream, with toast dipped in to scoop them. Winner!!

Daftasabroom · 03/11/2021 23:32

Mayonnaise is not a good milk substitute in either tea or coffee.

Ok I'm never eating nectarines again even though I love them. Thanks for that Shock
Msfoxy17 · 03/11/2021 23:42

I feel much better about today's wfh lunch after reading this hilarious thread! Not gross but a whole pack of Quorn mini scotch eggs.. I love them! Followed by a chocolate bar, and then Hmmsome fruit to make up for it later!

CookPassBabtridge · 03/11/2021 23:51

I love supernoodle sarnies! I love a good crappy meal and eat them around DP all the time, don't get why people have to wait until they're alone 🤷🏻‍♀️

LifeIsTricky · 04/11/2021 00:02

@HuntingoftheSnark This happened to me with a nectarine, but only spiders inside. I wasn't paying close attention and could feel something on my face, and it was one of the spiders. Think about 7 small ones. 3 years ago, and I still can't look at them when I walk down the isle in the supermarket. The worst experience ever. Was a bloody expensive M&S nectarine too.. furious haha

Sorka · 04/11/2021 00:09

Made an effort at lunch. Finished work and wanted a snack before finding the energy to make dinner. Three bags of wotsits back to back.

🤣

I fed DS a piece of cheese this afternoon that the cat had licked. He and the cat do spend a lot of time licking one another, so I expect he won't die from it.

Mine has got to be Rice Krispies squares dunked in tea, at least twice a week.

ArblemarchTFruitbat · 04/11/2021 00:33

Campbells condensed mushroom soup - undiluted, cold, straight from the tin. Has the texture of bogeys but delicious.

Ilovecharliecat · 04/11/2021 00:38

@JovialNickname

The other day I had a McCains microwave jacket potato with potato salad as a filling. (Nothing else left in the house)

It was very nice actually

🤣🤣🤣
