What do you eat when you just want crappy comfort food, but not a takeaway or a full cook from scratch meal

My go to is always plain pasta with a shit tonne of grated cheddar and pepper on.

Heart attack on a plate but damn its quick, easy and delicious.

Chips done in the deep fat fryer, with thickly buttered white bread. Loads of salt and vinegar.

Crisp sandwich with lots of butter!

A bowl of soft polenta is my comfort food - add butter, ricotta, a little salt and (optional) a spoonful of pesto or tomato-based sauce. Not the easiest, but worth it!

Anything potato is a good choice, though - maybe gnocci with butter and cheese and/or sauce if you need it in a hurry (they cook in just a few minutes). Fresh or frozen pierogies are also nice; you can get them with a potato, cheese, pasta combo which is the best of all worlds, and then add on whatever you like.

Pasta tossed in olive oil with a shit ton of grated cheddar is my hangover staple.

Or oven chips with gravy or pepper sauce to dip them in.

There’s a definite cheese theme going on here! Cheese on toast would be my choice.
