Nicest jam

Over the years I have spent a fortune on jams . I have an obsession with trying ever flavour I see . I can’t visit a fair , garden centre, farmers’ market without buying some ! I even have a jar of melon jam and a jar of apple and cinnamon .
At the moment I love plain and simple blackcurrant jam , mainly on scones and crumpets .
So , what’s your favourite jam ? Are different jams better on different things ?

My favourite jam to buy is Ikea's blueberry and raspberry. It's not too sweet, which is probably why I like it. My all time favourite is SIL's homemade raspberry jam it's amazing.

I don't think different jams are better on different things, it's just personal taste. For example I'll always go for blueberry, raspberry or blackcurrant and never for strawberry, apricot or rhubarb.

I do prefer marmalade on toast though, either lemon and lime, or a really bitter dark orange.

Ooh , yes . Really bitter marmalade .
That’s reminded me how much I love marmalade! I love lemon curd too .

I love all the St Dalfour ones. They don’t have sugar in (which is why I started buying them initially) but now I just think the flavour is different with/without sugar. They’re really expensive though ☹️

Mrs Bridges do some nice jams.
Dalemain for marmalade.

RainbowZebraWarrior · 23/10/2021 17:24

We really like Mrs Bridges Strawberry and Champagne conserve. And Sainsbury's Taste the Diffeence Apricot Jam.

I make jams and preserves all the time. I made a really good fig jam recently. And earlier in the year I did blood orange marmalade. I'll be doing that again when they come back in season.

I make my own and I think a good blackcurrant can't be beaten. Much prefer it to blueberry.

I agree that a lot of commercial jams are too sweet and I find you often have to sacrifice the set to preserve flavour.

My neighbour makes the most amazing redcurrant and raspberry jam which sets your taste buds on fire,; it's deliciously zingy! You have to keep it in the fridge though and only for two to three weeks as it is quite runny. The flavour can't be beaten though!

St. Dalfour or Bracken Hill. Latter are bigger jars and free shipping over £12. Some excellent flavours

Mrsjayy · 23/10/2021 17:27

DanceWithYourBalloon · 23/10/2021 17:28

I had pear jam in France. Nice but very delicate flavour

Mrsjayy · 23/10/2021 17:28

I meant blackcurrant sorry although the strawberry is nice too.

MrsDThomas · 23/10/2021 17:29

Homemade jam. I never buy shop bought now. So tasteless

OtterAndDog · 23/10/2021 17:30

@Splashinginpuddles15 my old housemate used to make it so I'm not sure if it can be bought. He used to put autumnal spices in it like nutmeg and cinnamon, it was delicious! If you google it then I'm sure you'll be able to find a recipe x

Twinstudy · 23/10/2021 17:32

St dalfour Mirabelle plum jam is my favourite. Not too sweet, just right

Cookerhood · 23/10/2021 17:35

Mistlewoeandwhine · 23/10/2021 17:39

My granny used to make rhubarb and ginger with big lumps of crystallised ginger in it.

Philandbill · 23/10/2021 17:39

Movenpick, almost any flavour, is lovely. Hard to find in this country though. Bonne Maman also good (but sadly not as good ..)

happysunr1se · 23/10/2021 17:41

Darbo apricot jam, available from ocado. Taste just like the jam I ate in the hotels on my childhood Austrian summer holidays.

gogohm · 23/10/2021 17:42

The stuff from the local wi stall at the farmers market, any flavour, delicious

Disfordarkchocolate · 23/10/2021 17:58

Bonne Maman Berries and Cherries. Heaven.

StiggyZardust · 23/10/2021 18:06

I love making jam. My favourite this year has been gooseberry.
I also made some very tangy damson jelly.

PearDropKid · 23/10/2021 18:08

Bit of a curveball but the Passion fruit curd from selfridges is amazing

milcal · 23/10/2021 18:14

Rhubarb and ginger is lovely.
