At home all inclusive

My friend's holiday has been cancelled at the last minute.

She is coming to stay with us or a couple of days instead.

I wanted to recreate the all inclusive experience for her, but I've never been on one!

What should I include.

I'm thinking buffet breakfast, lunch and drinks on the work surface.

It's more a gesture than anything else so can be as silly as you like!

I meant to chromecast the backgrounds to the tv.. 😅

You need a cheesy theme song. This was the last one we had before Covid . This wasn’t the resort we were at but it shows the dance routine (in aqua aerobics stylee!) that you could learn.

Start drinking at 9am.

Ask for your own one litre water bottle to be filled with beer before you go to the beach. Take the bottle back to the bar at hourly intervals throughout the day and get it refilled.

Don't forget to find a portly old gentleman in Union Jack shorts to sit, snore and fart on a sun lounger near hers

They quite often have chocolate fondue with marshmellows or fruit to put on sticks as one of the desserts, just cheap melted chocolate normally running down a few levels but just a container with chocolate on and sticks and fruit marshmellows would work. Waffle maker with nutella and similar things is very like it.

You do often get welcome cocktail on arrival which is syrup like a grenadine French syrup plus fruit juices and once I was given a single red rose saying it was mothers day there and then there were mothers day cocktails. Insert whatever day is appropriate, could be friend with cancelled holiday day.

Very kind of you. Theres also normally a timetable of entertainment programme like 8am aerobics, 9am waterpolo, 10am beach volleyball, through to evening, all with loud music and people asking you to come to it.

DH used to be fascinated by chillies being on offer at at the breakfast buffet

Get someone to sit in your garden screeching “harleigh! Nevaeh! Go get mummy an ice cream” “oi, you lazy little shits! I’m calling you!”

Do evening entertainment. This can be you and your family pretending to sing/pay instruments to things like Macarena okayed over a speaker. An echo dot with a towel over it will give the right effect

Wristbands! You have to wear coloured wristbands so they know you've not just walked in off the street

Cheap ice cream in little tubs.
Karaoke.
Cocktail umbrellas.
Hire a blow up hot tub?

Offer her watermelon whenever she sits down. Do so by kneeling beside her and proffering a plate "madam?"

Start making pancakes at a random hour and ask her to queue with a plate watching you.

I love this thread but it makes me a tiny bit sad - feeling like most of us that we have ‘lost’ holidays and so much more of course during the pandemic. I appreciate a lost holiday is nothing compared to what many have gone through. The YouTube videos made me smile and a bit emotional too - lots of memories of past hot summer holidays.

Anyway, if you go out for the day pack a random packed lunch in a paper bag…couple of bruised pears or apples or a large orange. Tin of tuna (yep we had this once) and some bread rolls. It’s really important that you then put at least one bottle of water ON TOP - bonus points if it is dripping with condensation…

Karaoke evening round the (paddling) pool…cover it with petals or a rug or flag.

Ask her to speak the basics of the relevant language - for example thanking you for drinks etc and saying hello and goodbye.

Tell her there's lots of ice cream in the freezer, then send her out with a flea in her ear if she walks in unsuitably dressed

My suggestion would be that when she is in the shower to flush the toilet/run the tap in the kitchen frequently so that she can never enjoy constant water pressure/temperature
