At home all inclusive

puginamug · 23/10/2021 13:49

My friend's holiday has been cancelled at the last minute.

She is coming to stay with us or a couple of days instead.

I wanted to recreate the all inclusive experience for her, but I've never been on one!

What should I include.

I'm thinking buffet breakfast, lunch and drinks on the work surface.

It's more a gesture than anything else so can be as silly as you like!

Make her sandwiches for her lunch from the picked-over continental breakfast.

Fashion a towel into a duck-billed platypus.

Instal optics of Lithuanian spirits in her room.

Arrange for your kids to do the entertainment using identifiably dated songs. Lots of 'Baby Shark' and 'Gangnam Style'.

Hesma · 23/10/2021 14:45

Ooh I forgot… yesterday’s tabloids!

Redjumper1 · 23/10/2021 14:47

Get up at 5.00am and cook a breakfast and leave it out on a table with ham/stale bread and fruit. It will be ready for her when she gets up.

get cheap pina colada and water it down and put in an umbrella and give that to her at 11.00am.

Start a scrap with someone in your family call the person a dickhead/don't know what I have to go through with you/I've had enough of this shit. Shout in the garden so it echos in through the house.

play bingo

do a mini disco

make loads of chips/hotdogs and toasted sambos and hand them out all day with some ice cream

go on a bus trip to an hour away and look at an aquarium/hill/look at goldfish.

LIZS · 23/10/2021 14:50

You need to organise a Welcome meeting , dress as a rep and try to get her to part with as much money as possible on oversold trips and experiences.

alphabetspagetti · 23/10/2021 14:53

When she arrives, give her a glass of really
sickly sweet sparkling wine, tell her she can't check in for three hours and nor can she use any of the facilities in that time.

Silkieschickens · 23/10/2021 14:58

Its been a few years since we went but it was lots of songs like this chocco latte song and dance,

DowntonCrabby · 23/10/2021 14:59

This is such a great thread Grin what a lovely friend you are OP Flowers

Mummyoflittledragon · 23/10/2021 15:13

Offer them a carafe of wine and drink out of a bottle yourselves. Ask if they’d like a glass out of your bottle and tell them it’s £5 a glass. Do the same with any of your spirits. Eg Bacardi and coke is free. Malt whisky is £10 a glass.

Put a paddling pool in the garden and any garden furniture in a circle around it.

If you can get hold of any clothes from a specific country or region, dress up one evening and encourage them to have a photograph with you and sell it for £15 a print. Failing that, pretend to be a photographer one evening and entice them into a PHOTOSHOOT “in front of the paddling pool”. Bonus points if you have any fake flowers or flower necklaces etc.

Cheermonger · 23/10/2021 15:16

Get a toy parrot and wave it around a dark room, in time to the theme from Star Wars?

Cheermonger · 23/10/2021 15:17

Set up an air hockey with coasters and table tennis bats on your kitchen table.

toomuchlaundry · 23/10/2021 15:19

PutYourBackIntoit · 23/10/2021 15:22

What a great friend you are!

Fold your loo roll into a triangle at the end Smile

LittleBearPad · 23/10/2021 15:23

Really weak drinks but lots of them

Really random meal combinations. Sweet and sour chicken with lasagne and calamari - absolutely.

Random sporting activities that begin and end with no notice

Dance completions with someone dressed as a bear in a logo t shirt

Grin

You sound great OP. I hope you have a lovely time.

DazedandConcerned · 23/10/2021 15:27

Obligatory playing if baby shark with a dance at the mini disco

minipie · 23/10/2021 15:30

So true

VodselForDinner · 23/10/2021 15:39

Do you have access to a group of German people, some giant towels, and some very flimsy sun loungers?

ThePlumVan · 23/10/2021 15:48

These are too funny !

You need 4 day old papers in the morning and hang out a National flag towel from your en-suite.

Shot glasses of desserts need to make an appearance - lime green jelly, pink fluff with sponge and cream, tasteless icecream.

Mummyoflittledragon · 23/10/2021 16:02

Have a fictitious list of names you are crossing off on the restaurant list and show them to a table if you have anything like a music stand, you could put a copy of the ‘menu’ on this and the name, Chezpuginamug. Have a Google and find your favourite indoor sounds (in this case busy restaurant) and play them so they get to hear them as soon as they arrive for every meal.

Get your iPad / laptop set up in a communal area at a desk if you have one. Do you have anything you could put signs out eg a cook book stand or photo holders / frames etc and you can put signs up like ‘reception’, ‘rent a car’ etc.

Label all of the rooms in the house. Put signs up eg to the pool (remember the paddling pool idea), to the restaurant, executive lounge etc.

Clarefromwork · 23/10/2021 16:07

Print out a fake boarding pass, and after ’trip:’ or ’flight to:’ you write your address. Search for boarding pass templates.

puginamug · 23/10/2021 16:43

These are all brilliant.

I've ordered one of those backdrops and YouTubed how to fold a towel like a swan. I have a waffle maker so I might break out a waffle station!

You need some stray cats and a one legged dog to run under her legs every ten minutes but I think there's likley an extra charge for this. €10.00

FrazzledY9Parent · 23/10/2021 16:51

This is hilarious! Everybody should have a friend like you, OP.

Wintermagic · 23/10/2021 16:55

There are many really nice beach backgrounds with sound of the ocean that goes on for hours on YouTube. Sorry if someone already mentioned it.
