What was THE INCIDENT at your secondary school?

Inspired by a thread on another website that I randomly came across throught google.

Every school has some sort of 'infamous incident' that passed into the annals of school infamy and was the sole topic of gossip for months if not years.

What was yours?

Mine was the head teacher had an affair with another teacher. Both were married. It all became public on the last day of term and neither of them came back the following term. Just disappeared. No one talked about anything else for a long time.

@SylvanasWindrunner

Oh and the art teacher who tried to hang herself in the supply closet but a student found her in time. She never came back to work at our school and I really hope she got the help she needed Sad
Sad That is so awful

We had a flasher come into the school and masturbate whilst we were waiting outside the assembly hall. He even had a long rain coat on in a true early 90s cliché. Ironically, two police officers were in the building given some sort of talk at the time.

Pupil brought a gun in and shot one of the teachers. He recovered and taught there for a lot of years.

MintyGreenDream · 17/10/2021 18:14

ChuddleyCannons · 17/10/2021 18:15

Artus · 17/10/2021 18:16

One pupil stabbed another to death at the train station on the way home from school.

Before the National Curriculum came in, year groups in secondary school were numbered in whatever way was traditional at that school, and it didn't follow on from primary school. A fourth year would probably be what would now be year 10 in England, i.e. 14 or 15 years old.

The priest being imprisoned for raping a teenager.

I will totally out which school I went to doing this but fuck it:

Staff pigeon holes were outside the staff room doors so pupils could put stuff in them and also collect things.

Someone found in one hole a list of 'odds' written on, and bet on, by teachers. The odds included

 • most pupil likely to get pregnant before 16
 • pupil most likely to be in prison for a sex offence
 • pupil most likely to have a gang bang
 • pupil most likely to be a drug addict

And a few more. All with a little list of names
Susan Moore - 6:1
James Giles - 3:2
Kevin Cowell - 2:1
Etc

It was reported (as well as photocopied and passed around at lightening speed) , but nothing happened! Im site that teachers claimed it was fake, despite their signatures being on HmmAs a teacher now I'm horrified this was ever said let alone written down. If anyone ever alluded to a child's likelihood of in the staff room or staff night out I think id lose it at them. And would report them

Two female teachers were lesbians. It was a Catholic school and although homosexuality was becoming more widely accepted it hadn’t quite reached our small norther town and certainly not the Catholic school. One of the teachers was very quiet, gentle spoken, would regularly cry with the stress of high school teaching or just having to deal with the shits that we were as teenagers. The other a very stereotypical manly looking p.e teacher, lots of rumours about her making advances against girls, one girl left the school, the rumour was she’d had an affair with the p.e teacher. All these years later I actually believe the rumours. Although I moved away a lot of my school friends still live in the town and surrounding villages, everyone knows everyone’s business. Quite a lot of them are teachers themselves now teaching in our old high school, one was the daughter of another teacher at school when we were there, they have said that everything at school as 100% true, the teacher in question became a headmistress who was eventually forced into early retirement after an investigation into sexual harassment and bullying was launched. Even if I hadn’t have seen the newspaper articles I think I’d have believed she was capable of anything.

School priest was sent to prison for making and distributing hundreds of images of child abuse 😱

When I was in my 1st or possibly 2nd year of senior school, one of my brothers was in the year 2 years above. During my brothers drama lesson a long bullied very sweet boy finally flipped and kicked a less popular member of class squarely in the testicles ( who had been hardcore bullying him also) and split his scrotum. This individual ( the one who had his testified crushed) was famous for a short time in tabloids for marrying a tabloid friendly ‘lady’, and then when breaking up with this lady got together with a briefly famous tabloid lady and had a baby with her. At the same time another boy in the class was mucking about pretending he was going to deliberately going to fall from the 1st floor window, and then sat on the window ledge, lost his grip and fell out the window. 2 ambulances had to be called.

TwoLeftSocksWithHoles · 17/10/2021 18:19

I think the most serious INCIDENT was when we had 'staw boater' type hats as part of our summer uniform and it turned out that someone had a boater made out of a man-made material rather than straw and it was MACHINE MADE. Shock
They were, of course, expelled.
(It wasn't me)

The deputy head a character who was very strict and voice was very robotic was found to be a paedophile all over the news

Cheshirewife · 17/10/2021 18:21

Plenty of affairs between staff.

One of the teachers was sacked (and jailed) for incident material on his PC.

And just before my time, a teacher (and member of staff at school cadet unit) “borrowed” a machine gun from the school armoury when he went to pay an unannounced visit to his wife’s lover.

OutrageousFlavourLikeFreesias · 17/10/2021 18:21

We had a recurring joke that was played a couple of times a year, where someone would go and get a horse off the nearby common and persuade it into the ground floor of the teaching block. When the bell went for break, everyone would pile down the central staircase and then form a giant horse-based logjam until someone took the horse away.

By the time my brother went to secondary, there was a variation on this where someone would knock at the door of a classroom and when the teacher opened it, there would be a horse outside.

My school was rough as bags 😁

countrygirl99 · 17/10/2021 18:21

We used to play leapfrog over our hockey sticks while waiting for the PE teacher. Until someone slipped and had a very painful injury requiring several stitches in a very personal part of her anatomy.

Elderflower14 · 17/10/2021 18:21

I went to an all girls boarding school. Boys broke in one night. I was quite excited at 14 to wake up and see a handsome boy sitting on the end of my bed. The girl in the next dorm didn't share my enthusiasm.. She screamed the school down... Our headmistress looked exactly like Alistair Sim in drag in St Trinians.... She was chasing the boys round tbe building... "THERE ARE BOYS, BOYS IN MY SCHOOL!!"
We never found out what happened to the boys... Security guards and dogs were hired to protect the grounds for a while after!!

MintyGreenDream · 17/10/2021 18:22

Ah ok

CatandFiddleForestGin · 17/10/2021 18:22
**@MintyGreenDream it also means year 9
@MintyGreenDream @ChuddleyCannons it must have a few meanings - it was first year of GCSEs for us so what is now year ten if in England.

Scarby9 · 17/10/2021 18:23

A girl in my class getting married during study leave before O levels, then putting her uniform on to came back to school to take her exams.
The local paper made a big splash about it - basically 'gymslip bride' stuff - this was the 1970s.
Her parents found she was sleeping with her boyfriend at the age of 16, and told her she either had to stop or marry him. She chose marriage, but was divorced - or well on the way to it - by the time the rest of us did A levels.

To much detail will possibly out me but a drug dealer was killed outside our school at leaving time. Seen by a good number of school children.
