Can someone explain what my son saw?

My DS (14) and his friends went for a walk deep in the woods yesterday. They came across four people standing in a circle with candles and markings on the ground. Two were dressed in all black, very smart, like priests. The other two were in normal clothes and were bleeding from their arms. My son said he saw them cut themselves, they were mumbling something inaudible while the two in all black held their arms in the air and chanted. When they realised they were being watched one of the people in black told the boys they were going to cut their heads off if they don’t leave. I know it’s true because one of the kids filmed it and I’ve watched it. Wtf!?

@WorraLiberty How can a couple of boys whispering be even remotely identifying? 🙄

One the boys says my son’s name*

Unless his name is Balonz a 14 year old boys name is not outing

This is a parenting forum populated largely by frazzled, middle class premenopausal women. We've been excitedly arguing about a second hand changing bag in a charity shop for several weeks now. The chances of any of us having insider knowledge of satanic forest rituals are quite slim, tbh.

ohthestruggles · 18/10/2021 21:57

There is no way this ritual is anything good. Your son is very lucky because they would of done exactly what they had threatened to do if they didn't leave.

Really!?
**@Danzig, so you agree there is archeological evidence. Since, you speak as if you have a viewpoint on this subject what do you believe the day to day religious practice of pre Christian pagans was like? And what has lead you to your conclusions?
Considering that the term pagan encompasses hundreds if not thousands of different Religions, I'd say their day to day lives were incredibly varied.

and I said that there's evidence that it happened, not that it was common. although I don't see what people doing thousands of years ago has to do with what the OP's son saw.

@Danzig,

Except there are common themes within religious beliefs and practices across different societies.

and I said that there's evidence that it happened, not that it was common. although I don't see what people doing thousands of years ago has to do with what the OP's son saw.

As I said my post was in reply to posts commenting on Christian beliefs and practice. I just was making a comparison between Christianity and Paganism. As far as what OP's son saw, it could have been a blood ritual which occurs within some forms of Paganism/practices. As I said previously, modern beliefs and practices often reference historical ones.

"then having a go at the OP about their own made up shit, starting arguments about even weirder shit and just generally being pricks.*
Are you genuinely this rude about other people's religion in real life?

Whyyyyyyyohhhhhwhyyyyyy · 18/10/2021 22:13

@iklboo

I'm sorry you find it so hard to grasp that there are indeed very dangerous people out in the world who will carry out their threats, especially those in an occult and who are partaking In a literal blood sacrifice. I'm sorry that it blows your closed mind to even comprehend this kind of stuff.

Truth is if people can kill in the name of God/Allah, then people will kill in the name of Satan.

A Wiccan blessing? That is what it sounds like. Just like a Christian communion but done outside where the ley lines are, strongest.

iklboo · 18/10/2021 22:25

@Whyyyyyyyohhhhhwhyyyyyy - I find it hard to 'grasp' that you think people would behead three teenagers in broad daylight, even in the woods in the middle of Sussex. It's very rare for that level of violence, even under the guise of any other religions. You've asserted they 'would have' decapitated the boys and that they were Satanists. Or in 'an occult', whatever that is. That is hyperbole.

eastegg · 18/10/2021 22:29

@gardeninggirl68

Op you didn't answer...

What's the white building?? Odd as you said it was 'deep in the woods'

What white building? There’s something which looks like it could be a white structure in the background but if you look again it’s part of the clothing of a person partially in shot. Or do you mean something else?
Lupinhere37 · 18/10/2021 22:45

@WitchesInTheWoods I remember a similar incident happening to school friends when I was a teen. We all got warned in school by the police, if I remember correctly, not to go to the location in question. No phones then, so no footage but we were sixth formers and the friends in question were sensible and had been terrified by it. It had happened after dark, so increased the fright potential. Hope your DS and his friends are ok.
One question about the photo with the figure in white…..is there some kind of ties, maybe ribbon or rope, above their head, on the tree branch? Did the boys notice?

Staffy1 · 18/10/2021 23:20

I’m wondering what satanists would be doing with what looks like a pile of vegetables in the circle (square).

Matildalamp · 18/10/2021 23:25

Hahahaha! Love your comment Grin

Matildalamp · 18/10/2021 23:27

This sounds like the beginning of a Midsomer episode. Haven’t read the whole thread, so apologies if someone else made this comparison Grin

They were supposed to be making a casserole but forgot the cauldron.

Kiduknot · 18/10/2021 23:54

It’ll be filming, perhaps for a college course or something.

Or doing it for Halloween.

chaosmaker · 19/10/2021 01:01

Lol, probably film students rehearsing in the woods and got disturbed/annoyed by stupid kids with a camera phone creeping about.....

Unmerited · 19/10/2021 01:23

@gardeninggirl68

What's the white thing in the background?
Second hand baby changing bag?
Jux · 19/10/2021 01:41

Oh middle aged middle class arguing over a second hand changing bag, or not, I'm happy to say this sort of thing goes on round here all the time. No one takes any notice unless it's the witches in the Gladed Copse who are practising Black Magic and who will hex you if you see them. If you come and stay with me I could take you around all the other places where rituals (satanic and otherwise) are practised regularly as they're all safe. I won't take you to the Gladed Copse - you have to be able to run fast uphill if you go there to get away, and I don't any more.

However, dd could take you to some unexpected places in the city where similar rituals take place on a regular basis, to make up for it.

'Witchcraft' is alive and well in the UK!

PumpkinsandTea · 19/10/2021 02:10

@WitchesInTheWoods
I'm only as far down the thread as Jesusinthecabbagevan's gem but honestly, given the Primark leggings and the pumpkin, I'd say it's more likely to be a group of middle aged used-to-be-goths who take themselves a little too seriously 😐
