What little things make your life better?

Other than the big stuff like love, family, support, a good job... what are the small things that make your life better or give you a lift?

For me, it has to be good music, interesting podcasts and fresh flowers. Oh and a new notepad and a pen that writes nicely.

Oils, vinegars and fancy condiments. De Nigris glazes especially.

Every meal can feel like a restaurant or bistro standard if you have a nice oil as part of it. I ask for them for Christmas and they last forever.

Great thread. Along with most of (all of?) the above, some of mine are thunderstorms, learning new stuff, going into central London, looking at some nice art

A clean house, but especially my bedroom all clean and tidy, with fresh bedding, candles on and fresh flowers.
A really good cup of coffee in the morning.
Unexpected wildlife sightings like seeing deer on my drive to work, or badgers snuffling about in the undergrowth, and the lovely shapes made my flocks of starlings.

Today it has been:
Waking up to a tidy kitchen with an empty sink.
The pink sky at 6.30am.
A good laugh with my lovely work colleagues.
Washing on the line.

And now, being reminded by Lazymare that I have last weekend's Saturday Kitchen still to watch. I am also a big fan of the forearms.

My morning coffee: huge moka pot of half caf with loads of hot milk. It makes me happy every single morning.

Cuddles from my daughter.

Yellow sticker shopping.

Long walks.

Alone time when my daughter is with her dad.

Play dates: I get to chat with my friends, daughter is happy, a win for all.

You're almost there, sister; when you stop putting a bra ON your joy will be complete.
squashyhat · 12/10/2021 12:59

Cat, electric bike (although it depends what you mean by small - both cost me a fair bit), hearing owls hooting at night, woodburner (yeah yeah pollution blah blah blah)

JudgementalCactus · 12/10/2021 13:01

Perfumes. I have a modest collection and I love being able to choose one that fits the mood and the weather that day.

A little battery powered milk frother thingy that makes homemade coffee feel luxurious.

A comfortable bed with warm covers, and a good book.

A cup of tea, brewed long enough.

Chocolate with almonds in it, sometimes.

BeanyBops · 12/10/2021 13:23

At the moment it's pumpkin/Halloween/autumn stuff like lighting my pumpkin spice candle and planning my toddler daughters Halloween party!

But also - having lovely mugs for my coffee, wearing lovely loose comfy (but still stylish) clothes, getting my nails done, going for walks or to parks and buying a nice coffee from an independent cafe, getting up early to get a little bit of yoga in (today I only managed 15 mins before daughter woke up but it was still fab).

Blackmagicqueen · 12/10/2021 13:24

Seeing my dc smile, picking dc1 up from school, fresh baked goods, nice beverages, fresh sheets, a hot bubble bath, not having to cook, a good book, binge watching on netflix with cosy blanket and nice snacks, laying in the sun (not that i do much of that with young dc!), a parcel of something I've ordered excitedly arriving, wearing a new coat/boots for the first time, decorating the house for halloween/Christmas etc, little traditions etc there are so many more I'm sure!

IntermittentParps · 12/10/2021 13:29

Really creamy face wash that you take off with a face cloth. Doesn't have to be expensive (I like Superdrug's). Just love the feeling of slathering it on.

Also fresh flowers, new PJs, picking a mug for my tea or coffee and it's EXACTLY the right one, bread fresh that day, someone's dog looking at me and wagging hello as I pass, that smell when it's been hot and then rained.

Worldwide2 · 12/10/2021 13:33

Clean house
Curling up in snuggly Pjs with a good book or a twisty crime thriller with snacks and posh chocolates on a rainy night with my yankee candle going - bliss

neverornow · 12/10/2021 13:38

A clutter free house
Flowers (nothing crazy, cheapies from Aldi do the job nicely)
