What do you eat when you’re not cooking for anyone else?

DH and DS are away for half-term and whilst I’ll miss them, I’m looking forward to not cooking on the evenings and will probably have toast or cereal or crisp sandwiches most evenings.

Not only that, I will have them by 6 and have the whole evening to myself.

What would you have in the same situation?

Cheesy pasta.

Scrambled eggs on toast.

Cullen skink.

HarrisMcCoo · 08/10/2021 19:18

Enjoy your evenings to yourself to eat at your own leisure 😊 very jealous!!

Newchances · 08/10/2021 19:18

Would 100% treat myself to a chippy once.

Otherwise maybe something for the oven or a pot noodle

Weetabix, crisps. M&S macaroni cheese if I've been organised enough to plan ahead.

indecisivewoman81 · 08/10/2021 19:20

Jacket potatoes, beans and cheese

Lunch for dinner

HPandTheNeverEndingBedtime · 08/10/2021 19:21

When Dds at her dad's I stock up on M&S meals and some nice sweet things or cheese and crackers and bits to go with it.

AdamandMadam · 08/10/2021 19:21

Oooh, yes cheesy pasta!

Might do the chippy one night. They don’t do crispies over here which is a shame but I still enjoy sausage and chips!

Scrambled eggs on toast

Cheese and beans on toast

Cereal.

Quick and easy.

Lifeandsole · 08/10/2021 19:23

I’d be on the steak, chips and salad with a bottle of wine!

HPandTheNeverEndingBedtime · 08/10/2021 19:23

Are you working over the half term? If not have a look at what's on at the local theatre or cinema and go to an evening show

FlamesEmbersAshes · 08/10/2021 19:25

Toasted pita bread with peanut butter.
Soup and toast.
Scrambled eggs and toast.
Beans on toast.
Tuna paninis.
Fish finger sandwiches.
The odd ready meal.

I don’t like cooking. I cook for my DCs but I don’t bother if they’re at their dad’s and I don’t have to!

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 08/10/2021 19:25

I can't remember the last time I ate alone.

I'd have:
Greek salad, tsatziki and pitta bread with a jar of gigantes beans

Cheese, posh crackers, grapes, chutney, figs

Mushrooms on toast

A late lunch out one day and then toast and Marmite in the evening, perhaps followed by a packet of Minstrels

Nice bread and soup

Pasta of some sort

HalloHello · 08/10/2021 19:26

First night crisps and wine
Second night Chinese and wine
Third night toast and probably wine

Inthetropics · 08/10/2021 19:29

I'd have some pasta with a rich cheese sauce. And dessert.

Tellmeee · 08/10/2021 19:29

Ham sandwich and a cup of tea
Or
Weetabix or porridge
And
Share bag of Maltesers

HandlebarLadyTash · 08/10/2021 19:29

This thread just shows how tiring it is having to cook for and consider others all the time

didireallysaythat · 08/10/2021 19:34

Roussette · 08/10/2021 19:35

Dr. Oetker pizza.

Big treat

Snowdropsandbluebells · 08/10/2021 19:36

Fresh pasta.
Scrambled egg.

But as a treat I would get a steak.

emmathedilemma · 08/10/2021 19:36

Unless I have visitors I always cook for just myself and I definitely don’t live on sandwiches and toast!

FloconDeNeige · 08/10/2021 19:37

Well, DH had to go home to France the other weekend for some admin and he took the DC. I made myself Nigella Lawson’s rice pudding and ate it all.
