What did you get for your 21st birthday?

Looking for some good ideas for DD’s 21st birthday.

A car!

A Mont Blanc pen. At the time I was fairly unimpressed but now I'm in my mid 30s I love it and use it daily

A sewing machine. I loved making my own clothes.

A microwave as I'd just bought my first home!

Half a horse

My father bought both my sister and I a diamond at the local jeweler and on special birthdays (18 for her, 21 for me) we were told to go to the shop by ourselves and pick a ring, or a pendant to have the diamond set in. I choose a yellow gold solitaire ring that I still wear quite often.

Some small diamond studs. I’ve still got them over 20 years later. Love them.

A gold watch. Same for all my siblings.

I had a 6 week old baby it’s a blur...

An Opal ring

Dumped by then boyfriend.

A clown doll in a box to remind me not to be such a clown (loser, disappointment insert word to describe how I'm such a failure in the eyes of those that brought me up). I'm terrified of clowns too!

But on a nice note we got DD a beautiful necklace and a few bits and bobs she wanted and a nice meal out.

A Michael Kors watch back when they were all the rage. And a big party.

A Tiffany bracelet, used to wear it all the time but I lost it a couple of years ago and I'm still sad about it.

A round the world plane ticket.

I got a Krugerrand. My mother was heavily into buying us stuff that we could sell at a later date if we were ever skint, so 16th, 18th, 21st we're always in this vein. I still have it 35 years later.
I thought of my Krugerrand this morning when I opened a particularly large bill.

Private reg and holiday to New York

From my parents I got a trip to New York with my best friend. It was incredible. And I think about £3.5k which I popped in savings and then eventually spent on upgrading my car when I needed to.

Pearl earrings and necklace. Lost the earrings along the way but still have the necklace. Not worn it in years since hearing a pearl necklace joke 🤣
