HELP! I am (apparently) a grown adult 42 woman, but I can’t turn my shoes off.

I have purchased some very charming, exceedingly comfortable trainers from Next in the sale.

On hindsight these may have been from the children’s section. The clue is in the soles which flash brighter than the sun. Which is rather fun. But didn’t become apparent until the tags were off and they were upon my feet.

There is NO SWITCH! Nothing. Zero. Nada.

Do they not come with one? What if I need to speak to the Bank Manager, or other actual adults. Someone please tell me the off switch if hidden in a hitherto undiscovered location.

I’m not giving these bad boys up. They’re super comfy and cool. All solutions welcome*

*apart from grow up and return them.

@HoneyDragon

Here. Look no planes or unicorns or owt. Just some rather pleasant teal and purple camo trainers with orthopaedic soles.
But but but .....we want to see them dancing’ and flashin’ and bein’ cute!

@arootintootingoodtime

There's going to be a supply chain shortage and the army are going to have to be called in to deliver flashing shoes to us all!
This response is even better than the shoes Grin

I wish my pink sketchers had pink flashing lights!

Could you cover the shoes in duct tape, apart from the lights, and then spray paint the lights black. Might need a couple of layers to hide it completely?

powershowerforanhour · 07/10/2021 17:41

Run around in them until the battery dies?

What if Honeydragon collapses from exhaustion before the batteries die though? Then she will be lying prone in the gutter, her flashing soles summoning every ambulance for miles around...

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 07/10/2021 17:54

Oh this thread is pure, vintage @HoneyDragon!

BluebellsGreenbells · 07/10/2021 17:55

@HoneyDragon

Thank you for the warm welcomed back. I couldn’t think of anywhere Alderm that would A) understand B) possibly have a solution

I’m keeping the lights on account early morning dog walks will be awesome, but I do work in a preschool and if I wear these flashing I will cause a riot. Albeit a two foot high one.

Cuck00soup · 07/10/2021 17:59

Hmm - comfy you say? with lights.

Let me check my NHS uniform shoe policy...

MrPanks · 07/10/2021 18:01

I've nothing to add, but just wanted to say, I love the title of this thread.

Garriet · 07/10/2021 18:01

@lillylemons

They’re going to have a run on these.

I’ve bought mine 😂

Hugoslavia · 07/10/2021 18:05

For Christ's sake why are people giving the OP advice?! Do you really want her to switch them off?!! Or would you rather we hear about her funny updates.

Yesitsbess · 07/10/2021 18:06

@arootintootingoodtime

Roger that, I shall grab my giant Beano catapult and some glow sticks (so you can see me).

Theoldcuriosityshop · 07/10/2021 18:28

I'm far too old, in my 70s and anyway I can't run anymore, but I would love them. Grin

HoneyDragon · 07/10/2021 18:39

I’d been given the impression that MN had become a much more sedate forum with serious well meant advice these days.

So far the advice I’ve been given is to systematically place my trainers in a number of household appliances, explosion optional, run around until I succumb to either exhaustion or death or just fuck it all and start a juvenile riot and get fired.

I think I was lied too.

You all still give ASTONISHINGLY TERRIBLE ADVICE.

Yesitsbess · 07/10/2021 18:39

You most certainly are not too old! Get them on your feets!

HoneyDragon · 07/10/2021 18:39

FYI I’m gonna wear them to work tomorrow.

I want a pair!

I have bright pink Adidas but these sound much better and DS would be jealous

You all still give ASTONISHINGLY TERRIBLE ADVICE.

It's why you love us though. Grin

HoneyDragon · 07/10/2021 20:42

Obviously that’s why I love you. The poster who suggested I put my hands I. Them and clap was inspired Grin

DobbyTheHouseElk · 07/10/2021 21:49

I’ve just bought 2 pairs…I’m not sure why….

Cherrysoup · 07/10/2021 22:03

@Theunamedcat

Can you do a link, please? I need some!
