HELP! I am (apparently) a grown adult 42 woman, but I can’t turn my shoes off.

I have purchased some very charming, exceedingly comfortable trainers from Next in the sale.

On hindsight these may have been from the children’s section. The clue is in the soles which flash brighter than the sun. Which is rather fun. But didn’t become apparent until the tags were off and they were upon my feet.

There is NO SWITCH! Nothing. Zero. Nada.

Do they not come with one? What if I need to speak to the Bank Manager, or other actual adults. Someone please tell me the off switch if hidden in a hitherto undiscovered location.

I’m not giving these bad boys up. They’re super comfy and cool. All solutions welcome*

*apart from grow up and return them.

One for running and one for clapping surely?

BigRedDuck · 07/10/2021 22:21

Own it and show everyone how brilliantly cool you are Grin

Oh hang on.... didn't you paint your child blue?

You can totally do this - just grin and wink at everyone

@PragmaticWench

Stamping my foot in frustration. I'm a size 43. No flashing light trainers for me.

Oops. I've bought some of the Christmas ones even though they didn't have my size.

😂😂😂😂😂

OhWhyNot · 07/10/2021 23:44

I often buy children trainers for myself (so much cheaper)

Have never been this lucky

@SecretKeeper1

What’s the Mumsnet scarf? I need to know in case I accidentally have one.
You also need the MN haircut to really rock it, oh and to put the supermarket divider the wrong way.
tribpot · 08/10/2021 17:17

Mine have just arrived! Waiting for dusk to go out and light up the park.

OurChristmasMiracle · 08/10/2021 17:21

If anyone asks you simply say that as the nights are getting dark early it’s a safety feature as you like to go running.

Littlepurpledragon · 08/10/2021 17:29

You could just run up and down the stairs until the batteries run out !!Grin

PocoRana · 08/10/2021 17:30

Where do you live?! I so want to be friends with you xx

gunnersgold · 08/10/2021 17:35

I work in Next , they are kids shoes and they are supposed to flash when you walk . ! You can't turn them off! The battery will run out eventually . Prob designed for some million steps so get walking! 🤣🤣

DobbyTheHouseElk · 08/10/2021 17:37

I’m wondering now if they will fit me. I’m slightly wide of hoof…..

ShagMeRiggins · 08/10/2021 17:44

@powershowerforanhour

Run around in them until the battery dies?

What if Honeydragon collapses from exhaustion before the batteries die though? Then she will be lying prone in the gutter, her flashing soles summoning every ambulance for miles around...

It would give a whole new meaning to being “bluelighted” to A&E.
romany4 · 08/10/2021 17:45

I'm size 7 feet.
I'm SO disappointed because I really want a pair....

nopuppiesallowed · 08/10/2021 17:45

That's it! I'm going to light up my whole village (and appal my ultra conservative children. Again...)

Pulluptothebumperbaby · 08/10/2021 17:45

I have light up shoes from Next. I am 49 years old. There is no off switch. I love them! I work in A and E and I get lovely comments from patients everyday about my jazzy shoes. And my colleague says it will be easier for the rapists to follow me across the carpark at night. 😳😳😳

calvados · 08/10/2021 17:47

Just wear them woman and be proud to be zany! On the plus side as the nights draw in you won’t be stepping on dog poo in the dark anytime soon! Grin

IrishMel · 08/10/2021 17:51

So cute and adorable. They will all think she has definitely lost it now. Reminds me of the time we went to Ailawee Caves in Co. Clare and it was so dark down there and my son's trainers lit up the walkway and everyone loving it.... but he was 7 or so ha!!!!! great thread to lighten the mood. I just think the battery thingy is sown into the trainers. Maybe get some tape same colour as trainers and do a masking job on them. You sound like fun.

LokiDoki75 · 08/10/2021 17:51

@romany4 They go up to a size 8 adult 😁

tribpot · 08/10/2021 17:52
