HELP! I am (apparently) a grown adult 42 woman, but I can’t turn my shoes off.

I have purchased some very charming, exceedingly comfortable trainers from Next in the sale.

On hindsight these may have been from the children’s section. The clue is in the soles which flash brighter than the sun. Which is rather fun. But didn’t become apparent until the tags were off and they were upon my feet.

There is NO SWITCH! Nothing. Zero. Nada.

Do they not come with one? What if I need to speak to the Bank Manager, or other actual adults. Someone please tell me the off switch if hidden in a hitherto undiscovered location.

I’m not giving these bad boys up. They’re super comfy and cool. All solutions welcome*

*apart from grow up and return them.

This post made my day.

Put them in the tumble dryer, put some music on and switch off all the lights.

Disco.

PragmaticWench · 07/10/2021 16:05

Stamping my foot in frustration. I'm a size 43. No flashing light trainers for me.

IhateBoswell · 07/10/2021 16:07

I still get that giddy feeling when I play Beat Sabre on VR.

Oh man the joy of Beat Saber, I love it 👊🏻 I will play it in my light up trainers when I get them ❤️

BoreOfWhabylon · 07/10/2021 16:07

Welcome back @HoneyDragon!

Mud. Wade through mud and let it dry.

Ah, HoneyDragon, how I've missed thee... Grin

Icantfindanewname · 07/10/2021 16:19

So pleased to see @honeydragon back 😁 even if it means I am now a 🐑. Christmas trainers winging their way here I am ignoring husband's eye roll. Flash wear are going to be wondering why the sudden flurry of purchases...

We need a "code" to make sure... I vote a Lionel Blair kinda tap dance when you spot another wearer 🤔

@HoneyDragon

Checked the tongue and shone a torch inside can’t find a thing. Seriously who would manufacture them this way? What if I want to go to the cinema? Spontaneously. I’d have to put my shoes in my bag.
People who assume that no right-thinking child would want to turn them off?
chocolatepudandchocolatesauce · 07/10/2021 16:36

I was going to order the Christmas tree shoes from flashwear but the trustpilot reviews are awful. Those of you that have ordered some can you report back to how good they really are? I'd really love some!

LouLou198 · 07/10/2021 16:43

My DD's have had several pairs of flashy trainers over the years. I have only come across 1 pair that you could turn off, they were sketchers. All the rest flashed until the batteries died, which was approximately 10 million steps. Enjoy them OP, this thread has cheered me up!

NannyGythaOgg · 07/10/2021 16:45

Random adult flashing shoes

here

SecretKeeper1 · 07/10/2021 17:05

What’s the Mumsnet scarf? I need to know in case I accidentally have one.

Emmelina · 07/10/2021 17:06

Your only option may be to embrace it! 😂

Littleants · 07/10/2021 17:09

The joys of having to grovel an apology to teacher because 5yo dd’s shoes would not stop flashing.

You must have tiny feet

Yesitsbess · 07/10/2021 17:09

There's a marketing person somewhere right now looking at online light up sneaker stats and wondering what the heck just happened!

Thankyou for this thread, my Xmas list now features Unicorn light up sneakers and froggy backpack.

Shine on you crazy Honeydragon!

@lillylemons

I put in that I live in France on the website and it's telling me that they will cost me 2,095 pounds ...

I am now both sad and flashing-Christmas-shoe-less.

Yesitsbess · 07/10/2021 17:17

@arootintootingoodtime That's far too many pounds. I can try and launch some by catapult if your general direction if that helps?

I'm South coast so if you can head in the general direction of Cherbourg and then wave...

PjsOn · 07/10/2021 17:19

🤣🤣 don't they just flash until the battery runs out? I bet you look really cool though, I'm jealous!

arootintootingoodtime · 07/10/2021 17:22

That will be lovely. I'll grab my ginormous butterfly net and head up. I'll let you know when I'm there.

I thought it was worth the risk at that price will report back hopefully in a few days.
BlueBloodedBlue · 07/10/2021 17:29

OMG - I've bought a pair of the Christmas ones!
