HELP! I am (apparently) a grown adult 42 woman, but I can’t turn my shoes off.

I have purchased some very charming, exceedingly comfortable trainers from Next in the sale.

On hindsight these may have been from the children’s section. The clue is in the soles which flash brighter than the sun. Which is rather fun. But didn’t become apparent until the tags were off and they were upon my feet.

There is NO SWITCH! Nothing. Zero. Nada.

Do they not come with one? What if I need to speak to the Bank Manager, or other actual adults. Someone please tell me the off switch if hidden in a hitherto undiscovered location.

I’m not giving these bad boys up. They’re super comfy and cool. All solutions welcome*

*apart from grow up and return them.

They're from Flash wear.co.uk and in the sale. Bargain! (Sorry, bit of a luddite and don't know how to link).
@godmum56 do you have a pair? I love them but reviews aren't great
yes i have those and they have been fine. I have had them three years now, don't wear them often but they still work and charge. They don't look durable so I am careful with them

EwwSprouts · 07/10/2021 15:03

ChippyChips they are fabulous!

godmum56 · 07/10/2021 15:04

@Chippychipsandgravy

Never had light up trainers when I was a kid (am 53 yrs young). This thread inspired me to go Google some and I am now the proud owner of these amazingly awesome yet tacky trainers. They'll go fab with my Chrimble jumper!
om actual g link please?
AhCheeses · 07/10/2021 15:04

I have absolutely nothing to add to this conversation except.... of course this had to be your thread, @HoneyDragon 😂

That's the link for those asking, I've bookmarked it to show DC later as I've a feeling he'll want some.

Now everyone with preschool aged DC will be obsessed with checking their teacher's feet to see if it's @HoneyDragon Grin

ShagMeRiggins · 07/10/2021 15:10

Oh, now I’m nostalgic for the light up trainers I had when I was small! They turned off when I stamped my feet...

Yes, OP you must do this, please! Especially when meeting with your Bank Manager.

Don’t worry, you WON’T LOOK AT ALL CRAZY OR ENTITLED.

NigellaSeed · 07/10/2021 15:15

Yes please, take my money!

RocioMartinez · 07/10/2021 15:17

Hmmm. I'm sure there was a thread about this years ago when I had the same problem with trainers I had bought for my DC. The microwave solution definitely came up. I'm sure someone else suggested putting them in the freezer overnight or putting them through the washing machine (most Clarks kids trainers will survive a gentle wash cycle). If I recall correctly, none of those things worked... Sorry.

TheShades · 07/10/2021 15:20

They sound great. If only I didn't have massive feet.

thereisonlyoneofme · 07/10/2021 15:25

The size 8s would blind anyone with huge flashing bits !

NotAQueef · 07/10/2021 15:31

What does this circle button looking thing on the sole do?

i need these
Ibelieveinghosts · 07/10/2021 15:35

Wear the flashing shoes with an air of “I bloody love them, sod off if you’re boring enough to not think they’re fun”

ElephantOfRisk · 07/10/2021 15:41

I'm 55 and have pink glittery converse, they are starting to look a bit tatty now but I got a lot of compliments when I first got them. Least I'm taking them as compliments rather than "why the fuck are you wearing glittery converse" comments.

Oh and they are ombre pink...

Randomneim · 07/10/2021 15:44

If you have a bike, wear them for extra safety lighting!! Repurposetastic

Randomneim · 07/10/2021 15:45

Could be good also for walking in the evening. Do you have a dog that needs night walks? etc

la709 · 07/10/2021 15:47

Yeah we need pics

SallyDoTheDishes · 07/10/2021 15:47

When we went to Center Parcs years ago we went to the roller disco. There were two pairs of skates that had light up wheels. They were apparently for children but I could fit in them. The joy, the sheer joy of light up wheels, I cannot convey in mere words.

I still get that giddy feeling when I play Beat Sabre on VR.

There must be a way to turn the lights off although why would you want to?

AffableApple · 07/10/2021 15:50

Why do these never come up in my size?!

AffableApple · 07/10/2021 15:51

@lillylemons

OMG thank you!
