HELP! I am (apparently) a grown adult 42 woman, but I can’t turn my shoes off.

I have purchased some very charming, exceedingly comfortable trainers from Next in the sale.

On hindsight these may have been from the children’s section. The clue is in the soles which flash brighter than the sun. Which is rather fun. But didn’t become apparent until the tags were off and they were upon my feet.

There is NO SWITCH! Nothing. Zero. Nada.

Do they not come with one? What if I need to speak to the Bank Manager, or other actual adults. Someone please tell me the off switch if hidden in a hitherto undiscovered location.

I’m not giving these bad boys up. They’re super comfy and cool. All solutions welcome*

*apart from grow up and return them.

Shopping at Next tomorrow then Grin

BinkyBonky · 08/10/2021 18:03

Best thread everGrin. Betting the sales of light-up trainers are going through the roof! I think I would love a pair.

Underneath the insole?

Jeriko · 08/10/2021 18:14

Mine were from a charity shop and recharge inside via the USB cable (?) supplied. The on/off/change colour button is located and accessed on the actual USB socket piece by pressing it through the outside of the trainer. It clicks through all the colours and double-clicks off. Good luck!!!

I have a flashing light up umbrella so now I NEED the shoes to match.

DobbyTheHouseElk · 08/10/2021 18:43

I’ve ordered a 6 and a 7. No idea what children size 6 is like compared to adults. They arrive tomorrow I will update.

Deathraystare · 08/10/2021 18:44

Well, if you ever do need to speak to the Bank Manager, don't stamp your feet in a strop - you may cause sparks to fly!!!!

Hmm1234 · 08/10/2021 18:45

Must be a bored husband trying to be funny Smile

Jump in a muddy puddle

girasol · 08/10/2021 18:53

@Tonkerbea

Hahaha. Run around in them until the battery dies?
I’m late to this thread, but my daughter has some light up sandals that developed a fault while we were on hol in late July meaning the light was on all the time (no off switch, light constantly on). The light is still on even now. 2 months later.
DagenhamRoundhouse · 08/10/2021 18:55

Send a message to Next (Twitter so it goes public) and ask where the darn switch it!

Conniethesensible · 08/10/2021 18:56

I LOVE this!! Rock them, wear them proudly. Anyone who complains needs to sort out their priorities. They will literally brighten up anyone’s day 🥰

KloppsTeeth · 08/10/2021 18:56

Omg I need some of these. Wide large hooves, size 9. I don’t like dark nights as I am paranoid about stepping in dog shit when I go out; so these would have a double job as a footpath lighter upper Grin

Garriet · 08/10/2021 18:57

I love that my size in the Christmas trainers has now sold out. I await the arrival of my pair.

Dnaltocs · 08/10/2021 19:00

Perhaps a cobbler could help.

Nearly47 · 08/10/2021 19:01

Stuck on a weekend shift and your post made me laugh! Thanks! Don't switch them off! Start a new trend 😀

DreamTheMoors · 08/10/2021 19:03

I haven’t read the whole thread but wouldn’t the logical thing be just to ASK NEXT?

BoredZelda · 08/10/2021 19:08

FWIW, if I saw a woman in light up shoes, I’d think she was badass.

I’m now annoyed my clown feet won’t fit kids shoes because I want a pair.

ErrolTheDragon · 08/10/2021 19:15

Totally did - and balded said child with Immac too!

I thought it was the dog she immac'd? She said on another thread yesterday that her dog is a dick... I have some recollection of the poor beast being a dickhead after an unfortunate meeting with some sort of long conical penis cover. Something like that anyway.

The flashing shoes mark a welcome but relatively tame return. Grin

They have light up welly’s on here I am tempted! Sorry op not very helpful.

purplebunny2012 · 08/10/2021 19:24

Not helpful to the OP, but I have adult shoes that have light-up soles! Every press of the button cycles through all the colour and flashing options. I wore thrm to a convention for a TV show and mezmorised one of the guests as I stood to the darkened side of the stage to ask a question with them flashing away

LoisLane66 · 08/10/2021 19:25

After laughing until my sides ached at the thread I decided to look for fun footwear online and saw these two reviews. They'd be right up your street if you have crusty feet or buy them for a flakey friend.

This has made my day, HILARIOUS!

inferiorCatSlave · 08/10/2021 19:29

FWIW, if I saw a woman in light up shoes, I’d think she was badass.

Last parents evening I actually went to the shcool for a really smartly dressed mother was wandering around in dark coloured light up trainers. She looked super cool and no-one battered an eye.

I immediately wanted some and was immediately forbidden them by DD1 Sad.
