So what exactly are 'we' going to do about our misogynist Prime Minister?

Not that I expected anything different.
Howww.theguardian.com/politics/2021/oct/06/tottymeter-and-girly-swots-how-johnson-shows-women-respectwever this summary of his misogynist statements over the last couple of years is worth reading, I feel.

Why is he still in power? And which ones of your made the mistake of voting for him? (I didn't)

Because kier and Labour show women so much more respect...

It all goes deeper than these people we just need more good people in politics over all, we need to attract them in.

They're voting for him as he's not Labour.

Labour need to hurry up and be less shit.

TooBigForMyBoots · 06/10/2021 22:55

I am tired of seeing this. Voting is not compulsory. UK ballot papers gave a list of candidates to choose from, not just 2. People left their homes on a winter night and voted for BJ's Tory Party because they wanted to.🤷‍♀️

It's no one else's fault.

OldScrappyAndHungry · 06/10/2021 22:57

In what way is he funny?? Shock

So true. There are alternatives. Tories literally despise people who aren't wealthy and privileged and are happy to exploit them, lie consistently to get what they want, etc. Voting doesn't mean you have to love the party leader, the facts on the page have to stack up as being the most socially oriented, supportive of the weaker in society, less favourable to cronies, honest, non xenophobic/non racists, etc. You certainly don't get Tory if that's what you're looking for.

Boris Johnson acts appallingly in his family life. It's a huge embarrassment. I don't see funny or witty when I look at him, I see poor personal care, laziness, racist, serial adulterer, liar, workshy, für in the wool despiser of low income families.

A vote for Tories is a vote for Bullingdon club
Grim.

BasiliskStare · 07/10/2021 05:49

& the Labour party have stuck up for self identification for trans women . There are many reasons for not liking the Tories but misogynistic I do not think is one ( whatever you think of Boris Johnson he is not the whole party. ) - Criticise the man - but stick up for the women in his party who have stuck up for women ( just an opinion & others are available ) I am not sure he will be around for the long term.

Also I do not believe the Tries are the spawn of the Bullingdon Club - that's trite IMHO.

I so wanted Keir Starmer to be good - but he comes across as an armchair general .

Ach I don't know. I have voted both ways and hard to see where to put my X next time.

Blessex · 07/10/2021 05:54

@BasiliskStare I am with you. The conservatives have had some brilliant women first debates at fringe events at their conference with people such as Helen Joyce speaking.

The Labour Party had one woman MP who was scared to turn up.

I know where my vote is going.

elephantfan · 07/10/2021 06:03

The misogyny in labour, greens and lib dems is so much worse. Even the WEP doesn't support women's rights. Who is there to vote for?

Blessex · 07/10/2021 06:04

@elephantfan ha and don’t even get me started on the SNP. A vote for them is a vote against women. Angry

SandAndSea · 07/10/2021 06:27

He seems appalling all round to me. I'm not interested in anything he has to say.

BasiliskStare · 07/10/2021 06:45

@Blessex I just think some people don't know what misogynistic is & therefore I am careful about how people care for my rights to be a woman ( Adult Human female ) & the only party I have seen sticking up for this is the Tories.

To be fair I thought the furlough thing was good - kept lots of people / families afloat.

It may change

But I am bored with people implying the Conservative Party is a Bullingdon Club , Crony thing. Not one of the opposition benches stood up and said - no you can be a woman and someone cannot self identify - Now there will be those who disagree but I clapped when I saw those women speaking in defence of women and you just can't self identify.

This is a point for me & until someone else says it better - I'm with them - Boris having 3 wives or being a bit Henry VIII - don't give a flying wee about the man - but they are the only party standing up for women.

Blessex · 07/10/2021 06:54

It’s rich coming from The Guardian too!!! The paper which is now vilifying men who flash their bits at women post the Everard trial and yet only 2-3 months ago saying it was no big deal when that happened in a female spa changing room.

But in FPTP in many constituencies it's only Labour or Tories who are electable. The role of the other parties is simply to influence the agenda, not get elected.

This! Our choice is Wokey vs Blokey. Blokey is easy to dismantle. Wokey is evil, insidious, dangerous and slippery.

I hear you - but I think we may be up shit street as Carry was at the conference spouting that the Gov need to get behind TRA.

I am under no illusions about Boris but I really hope they are clever enough to see they are going to scoop up ex Labour women if they just hang on in their with standing by "women adult human female' and not bowing down to TRA pressure. But I'm not going to lie Carry coming out and saying that has worried me.

And some people vote to keep the other out, as happens every election. There are 2 main parties, it's disingenuous to suggest otherwise. I'd never vote Labour whilst they can't acknowledge what a woman is, I'd be loathe to vote Tory but tempted to keep Labour out. As is they're so epically shite at the moment not sure there's a risk of them getting in.
Blessex · 07/10/2021 07:07

@Evesgarden admittedly I haven’t watched Carries speech but from what I have read I think she was very careful not to mention the T word. She was there with Stonewall tho which is a worry. I hope she digs a bit deeper.

elephantfan · 07/10/2021 07:09

IMO Carrie has far too much influence. She is not an elected representative. I hope that her over involvement will be a factor in getting rid of BJ and someone more capable as leader.
I have never been a Tory voter, but the other parties are so dreadful I am at a loss.

PattiPritell · 07/10/2021 07:10

1996 seems a long time ago - well before #metoo.
I probably laughed at the joke then.

PattiPritell · 07/10/2021 07:15

We are in for higher costs for just about everything, wages that will most likely not remotely keep up. Shortages until supply /demand evens out in a few years.
There's seems to be no money to pour into the NHS or the courts to deal with rapes.

If labour DON"T get in at the next election it will be unbelievable because people won't want to vote for the incumbent party.
I would think Boris will happily step back for Rishi Sumak in the near future so he can go and get a life (making a fortune on the public speaking trail)

BasiliskStare · 07/10/2021 07:17

@Evesgarden - yes - I will look out for that because that would knock them back for me , Thank you for pointing that out. Let us hope she doesn't have the influence she thinks she has. But many thanks for your post.

Selkiesarereal · 07/10/2021 07:18

I don’t think that we need to be concerned about Carrie as she managed to avoid this he T word and sadly as a victim of sexual assault knows full well the dangers faced by women so it would be a shock if she goes down the path of supporting self-id and the issues which arise from that.
