Heated throw: to buy or not to buy

88 replies

TeapotCollection · 04/10/2021 14:12

I’m one of those people who is almost always cold, I’ve often thought about buying a heated throw but I think it might make me worse. I can already picture myself crawling out of the throw to get a drink/go to the loo and feeling even colder than I would if I didn’t have it

Any thoughts or opinions much appreciated

Buy!! We have one and it gets used plugged in when it’s really cold and with no lead during autumn. There’s nothing not to like.

TeaStory · 04/10/2021 14:15

I have one and I absolutely love it. If anything happened to it I’d replace it immediately. I have poor circulation and am always cold, to the point of shivering and having blue hands - it helps me warm up enough to get some relief. I don’t have any problems jumping up for a drink or the loo.

imnottoofussed · 04/10/2021 14:19

Can you tell me which ones you have @FreeBritnee and @TeaStory

I want to buy one but there's too much choice

Ohdofuckofdear · 04/10/2021 14:21

I have one and I have it on me now,my lovely DH bought it for me as a surprise and it is one of the nicest things he could have bought me and it is the one gift that I use all of the time.

I'm disabled and I have FND,Fibromyalgia and Raynauds so my poor old body struggles to regulate my temperature so my heated throw has been a God send.

hellothere007 · 04/10/2021 14:22

Yes!

Kittii · 04/10/2021 14:24

I love mine. It really helps me relax too. I do sometimes not want to get out from under it but I'd still rather have it than not!

TeapotCollection · 04/10/2021 14:24

Thank you all 😊

Also interested to see which ones are recommended, there certainly is a lot of choice

I'm more of a hot water bottle and blanket kind of person, but yes, being warm on the sofa is great.
ime if you are nice and warm then getting up for a short while is not an issue.

Ghostlyfeet · 04/10/2021 14:33

I bought a cosihome one from Amazon last autumn and I LOVE it!!!

Ragruggers · 04/10/2021 14:37

I bought one 3 years ago from Lakeland we call it the the brown bear.Super cosy ,very soft and so so warm.The GC love it it is their greatest treat.Just got it out today as the evenings are chilly.Highly recommend.Think it was about £100.

Fluffycloudland77 · 04/10/2021 14:47

We have two dreamlands, fleecy and faux furry. Faux furry is better.

Grimbelina · 04/10/2021 14:51

The Relaxwell by Dreamland Luxury Velvety Heated Throw is brilliant (all the Dreamland Intelliheat products are good). Also, lots of Heatech by Uniqlo leggings and long sleeved tops under everything (M&S and Primark do their versions and just as good) cashmere jumpers and sheepskin slippers. I even wear fingerless cashmere gloves indoors when I am very cold!

Mariell · 04/10/2021 14:53
I have this one www.johnlewis.com/dreamland-luxury-heated-throw/grey/p5111250?sku=238925956&s_ppc=2dx92700063981466026&tmad=c&tmcampid=2&gbraid=0AAAAAD2el1ylYLtMW4DOVBWDkmEIKYR10&gbraid=0AAAAAD2el1ylYLtMW4DOVBWDkmEIKYR10&gclid=CjwKCAjwzOqKBhAWEiwArQGwaOgFlTfddoOg2SS-s2LHonR7nKjsDFbeaIxXn3gJ-yV9Is0i1j4j_hoCXnYQAvD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds
Does the lead come with a conventional three pin plug that goes into a normal socket?

I want to buy one as a gift but it must be a conventional plug and not a USB type plug in.

Thank you.

EerilyDisembodied · 04/10/2021 14:55

We bought one from Lakeland about three years ago and fought over it so much that we bought another last winter, I love them and I'm not a cold person at all.

TeapotCollection · 04/10/2021 14:58

This is very encouraging 😊 Hoping they come with a normal 3 pin plug

Leaning towards getting one now 😆

I have one from Lakeland, and it is wonderful. Proper plug, times out so you can't leave it on accidentally overnight and its just enough warmth on setting 1 to be cosy without overheating

TeaStory · 04/10/2021 15:40

@Mariell yes it does.

Returnoftheowl · 04/10/2021 15:47

I have one, from Lakeland, and I love it!

Mylee · 04/10/2021 15:51

I bought one recently from Aldi and it’s probably the best purchase I’ve ever madeGrin

I have this exact same one. My husband bought it for me for xmas. At first, I was like WTF but now, it's my favourite thing he's bought me - EVER.

Its so wonderfully warm and cosy and my daughter loves it as well (and the dog likes to jump up and rest his backside on it when it's turned on!)

Lelliebellieboo · 04/10/2021 15:57
@Mariell yes it does.
@Mariell
it's a normal plug. You can remove the lead and machine wash at 30 degrees and even tumble dry it

Accidentgirlfriend · 04/10/2021 15:58

I bought one from Amazon last Christmas for about £50 it’s really good and yes a normal plug .

ittakes2 · 04/10/2021 16:06

have you checked your vit B and iron levels?
