Two more votes for Shag and Waitress. Love them both.

Inside I’m Dancing (James Mcavoy before he was famous) It’s a really touching movie.

So much love for Wild Rose on here. I couldn't get past my dislike of Rose to have a different opinion of the film.
Gems:
Educating Rita is on iPlayer at the moment.
Dogma
The Book Thief
Unbreakable
Winged Creatures
The crying Game
Ladies in Lavender
Okja (same Director as Parasite which has already been mentioned)

@Lesina I came on to say that. One of my all time favourite films that few people seem to have heard of

Loveitloveitloveit · 03/10/2021 19:54

Saved! Very dry and dark humour

Smashingspinster · 03/10/2021 19:55

Captain Fantastic. Loving Vincent is one of the most beautiful films ever. The Cupboard or La Placard if you want a laugh and can be bothered with subtitles.

HBGKC · 03/10/2021 19:55

Ooh yes, Secrets & Lies is fantastic. I also love All About Eve as per a PP.
Emma, with a young Kate Beckinsale, is worth searching out.

Eagle V Shark, JoJo Rabbit or What we do in the shadows are my favourites to watch on the rare occasions I have the TV to myself.

Basically anything directed by Taika Waititi.

Whistle down the wind
Tess
The Railway Children (1970)
The Go-Between (1971)
Far from the Madding Crowd (1967)

Love and Friendship - adaptation of a Jane Austin book.

Hellotoallmyfans · 03/10/2021 19:59

Peters Friends - Stephen Fry, Emma Thompson et al are old uni friends getting together in Peters country pile, it's very sweet and funny
An Education - Carey mulligan won an Oscar for this and its fab but no one I know has ever watched it!
Rita, Sue and Bob too - hilarious (maybe more so if you're northern and/or grew up in the 80's)

TheLovelinessOfDemons · 03/10/2021 20:00

Fried Green Tomatoes at the Whistle Stop Café
Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind

Lifeisshortandbittersweet · 03/10/2021 20:00

Little miss sunshine.. Toni Colette is so good in it too. The little girls dance routine at the end to ' super freak' is brilliant

AuntyFungal · 03/10/2021 20:02

Women at War - Icelandic eco warrior women with random um-pah band.

TaraR2020 · 03/10/2021 20:02

This Beautiful Fantastic

With Jessica brown findlay, Andrew Scott and Tom Wilkinson

Ididanamechange · 03/10/2021 20:02

One of my favourite films, and has Robin Williams in, is August Rush. I think it flopped at the box office but I love it. Its a modern oliver twist story and the music in it is beautiful

Adamine · 03/10/2021 20:04

I agree, Secrets and Lies is fantastic! I preferred the BBC series of Emma with Romola Garai and Michael Gambon. Obviously that isn’t a film but well worth a watch
Lifeisshortandbittersweet · 03/10/2021 20:04

@thefirstmrsrochester love the angels share!

BunnyBerries · 03/10/2021 20:04
