Went the Day Well - arguably our finest WW2 film. A troop of German invaders are fought off by the residents of a Norfolk village.

Agreed - I love that film.

Me too! Coincidentally, it's being repeated today at 6.25 pm on Talking Pictures channel (81 on Freeview)

Y Tu Mama Tambien is an excellent Almodovar film about a road trip in Latin America. Beautiful film.

Hunt for the Wilderpeople as PPs have said is fabulous. Also Peanut Butter Falcon, Into The Wild, and Holes.

Would definitely second Y Tu Mama Tambien (though think it’s by Alfonso Cuaron rather than Almodovar.) Great film, haven’t seen it I years so might have to rewatch it this weekend.

Have just watched "Hidden Figures" and would like to add it to this list.
Great film- watch it with science/ maths loving daughters.

Boys on the Side.

I remember this was quite a big film back in the 90s - it’s got Drew Barrymore, Whoopi Goldberg and Mary-Louise Parker in it (as well as a very young Matthew McConaughey) - but for some reason it’s never shown on tv and for a looooong time it was practically impossible to get U.K. region vhs let alone dvd.

HOWEVER - it’s on Prime now (or it was recently) and it’s a lovely film.

Lots of great films on here but not many I’d consider a hidden gem! Grin

I have to agree, unless most of the posters are about 20. Many of these are as far from hidden as you can get. And as for 'Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham', it was a massive, massive, blockbuster hit with some of the biggest stars of its time in it: Amitabh Bachchan; Shah Rukh Khan, Kajol; Hrithik Roshan. It's culturally deaf to call it a hidden gem.

Shag. It’s not the English meaning of shag, it’s an 80s coming of age dance movie along the lines of Greece. I love it 😍
God I loved that film! Used to watch it over and over on video! Where can I watch it now?
