Sing Street - brilliantly funny film set in 1980s Dublin about young people forming a band and trying to get away from dull and oppressive everyday lives.

I've just watched human traffic for the first time and totally loved it. It made me feel really nostalgic and I think I'm so used to something bad happening to women in films, I was on egg shells but actually it's just a nice film about some mates on a night out. Plus I loved looking at the 90s fashions and how women were so much less insta-ready that they are now, but no less beautiful. And Danny sure looks like a tiny kid trying to do an impression of Danny dyer; he's so young in it whereas I don't think the rest of the cast have really aged.

Oh and I second the poster who said gods own country. It's such a beautiful film.

And the ending of pride is fab too - my favourite movie ending ever.

Muriel's Wedding with Toni Collete.
Very funny and also tragic.
Cut Bank, great cast including Billy Bob Thornton and Bruce Dern.
Film noir a bit like Fargo but not as good.

JoyDivisionOvenGlovesx · 03/10/2021 19:44

Clue

Clever, funny, beautifully hammy acting. Tim Curry at his (second) best - first being Rocky Horror Picture Show, obvs.

The Commitments. My favourite ever film! And if you can find the sequels (The Snapper and The Van), they are fab too.
Love this film and love the soundtrack. I also loved Sunshine on Leith. The song is probably my favourite Proclaimers song.
Eyesofdisarray · 03/10/2021 19:48

3 billboards outside Ebbing, Missouri is great, sad but such a good film
The Emerald Forest
Dead of Night (1945) brilliant
Eraserhead (😮)

Phyllis321 · 03/10/2021 19:49

Jolt. Absolute nonsense but hugely entertaining, especially when premenstrual...
Kate beckinsale is great in it.

MintMe · 03/10/2021 19:49

My vote is for Away We Go, Sam Mendez film with Maya Rudolph and John Krazinski. Wonderful score by Alexei Murdoch too.
