What is the most pain you have ever experienced?

I’ve had some pretty nasty migraines & my c section recovery wasn’t the nicest.

What’s the worst pain you’ve ever been in and how long did it last?

Trigeminal neuralgia. Hell on earth. It's so bad I sometimes lose consciousness and wet myself, so I have to hope and pray I don't have attacks in public.

I also have rheumatoid arthritis which is very, very nasty (I'm in a bad flare at the moment and can't move for pain). But it's a walk in the park compared to the TN.

OppsUpsSide · 03/10/2021 22:58

Having my clitoris sewn up before the pain killer had kicked in. It must have been urgent because I did say (scream) about it but she carried on regardless!
Also piles! Nasty fuckers.

@PhilCornwall1 are we the same person? Grin

It's a big old bunch of shit, isn't it.

Prolapsed disc with sciatic nerve compression.

@Clevs

Prolapsed disc with sciatic nerve compression.
It's the most relentless pain. The only way I coped was with heat on my back 24/7, taking painkillers even through the night and pacing I paced my way around a&e and triage took one look and skipped me out the queue and shoved more morphine in me. When I eventually lost all feeling in my legs it was actually blissful relief Blush
RJnomore1 · 03/10/2021 23:04

Sepsis and peritonitis. I couldn’t move and I’ve never experienced pain like that.

I’ve had a c section and all sorts of illnesses, torn muscles kickboxing, thrown my back out doing weights, taken all the skin off my hands in competitions, broken arms legs and toes - all nothing in comparison.

SquarePeggyLeggy · 03/10/2021 23:05

Endometriosis pain. Contractions. Laxative caused abdominal cramps. I thought I might actually die on that last one, it was like I imagined being poisoned is, cold sweats, hot flashes, vomiting and crippling pain. And it was an over the counter one!!

Tooth absence on one of my lower front teeth that ended in a root canal
Dislocated shoulder while dog walking as a teenager followed by a 2 mile walk home, where my Dad who has some medical training popped it back in for me on the living room floor
Ovarian cyst when younger
50 hours in labour with only gas and air towards the end when a midwife spotted my DD was breach and stuck

Duchess379 · 03/10/2021 23:16

I have hypermobility & my shoulder dislocates. Single handedly the most painful thing in my life. I've had some serious operations, I have tattoos but the dislocation beats them all.

Allwillbefine · 03/10/2021 23:32

A urinary tract infection. That sounds completely pathetic but it was honestly more painful than labour (and I did not have an easy labour - I was in absolute agony). The pain from the UTI was so bad that I woke up screaming without consciously doing it, and it also made me pass out.

eeek88 · 03/10/2021 23:36

Having the entire arm of a doctor rummaging round my uterus seeing if she could further the breaking of my waters which had already broken. Not sure what she was playing at but it felt like falling down a Pringle tube of pain.

In comparison the c section that eventually followed was a breeze and the pain afterwards was very manageable.

Breaking my collarbone was not pleasant but adrenaline is a miracle drug and I walked a mile home immediately afterwards. Two weeks later my boyfriend drove us onto the verge of a country lane at 30mph to avoid oncoming traffic not realising it was rutted and sweet Jesus THAT hurt.

I also had what I presume were 2 very early miscarriages that at the time seemed like savage periods and they were not much fun.

Cloudandsunshine · 03/10/2021 23:37

For me it was labour, hands down!

Redredwiney · 03/10/2021 23:37

When I stubbed my toe an hour ago…still got the ice on!

thaegumathteth · 03/10/2021 23:38

Probably kidney stones but that was very very recent so fresh in my mind.

Tearing muscle in front of my groin / thigh is a close second and then an abscess on my tooth and a back spasm in that order.

Unmedicated in terms of pain relief induced labour with large babies and one back to back would be after all those things but is that psychological because there's a purpose to the pain iyswim?

Libelula21 · 03/10/2021 23:42

Death of partner.
Heartbreak over unrequited love.
Date rape.
A fractured shoulder.
Emergency C-section.
Period pain.

lilacdinosaur · 03/10/2021 23:45

Definitely back to back labour and a third degree tear.

kissmelittleass · 03/10/2021 23:47

Last year a uti that turned to sepsis and peritonitis I was saved just in time , I was in so much pain I couldn't describe and hope I never have to face anything like it again.

catfunk · 03/10/2021 23:49

A thrombosed pile the size of a plum tomato.
I've got hypermobile joints so I'm used to living with pain but this was excruciating. Next level.

Hawkmoth · 03/10/2021 23:50

Gallstones. Something very weird realising you've been in one position solely focusing on breathing for four hours and the pain has now stopped. Don't ask me why DH didn't check on me in this four hours, I have no idea.

Leavemyspongesalone · 03/10/2021 23:55

Scarily fast Induced labour with a back to back baby, no time pain relief.

Excruciating stomach pain from the sepsis that followed the induction.

TMD/J flare ups.

eeek88 · 03/10/2021 23:56

Come to think of it, ripping off my big toenail (it got caught on the wall when I turned over in my sleep)n was worse than any of the pain of labour, emergency c section and recovery from that. I kept the nail and drew a face on it and gave it to a friend who still has it years later.

SinisterBumFacedCat · 03/10/2021 23:56

Dental abscess on front tooth that swelled my face up, I couldn’t escape the pain, couldn’t get to see a dentist and was stuck in a caravan with my unsympathetic mother. Although I had the tooth removed I was left with nerve damage and have had constant low level pain for many years since so I feel like I never recovered. Childbirth, in comparison, was nothing.

Washeduponthebeach · 03/10/2021 23:57

Having a wisdom tooth out. Having a UTI that spread to my kidneys.

TableFlowerss · 04/10/2021 00:05

Giving birth with no drugs (not through choice!)

RJnomore1 · 04/10/2021 00:05

@kissmelittleass I know that pain, nothing compares. It must be one of the Worst ways to die (I came close too)

Thank fuck for modern medicine
