I’ve had some pretty nasty migraines & my c section recovery wasn’t the nicest.

What’s the worst pain you’ve ever been in and how long did it last?

A series of very severe migraines - four in ten days. I was taken to A and E and given morphine and another extremely strong painkiller, I don’t remember what it was.
I couldn’t see, speak or remember my name or where I was. I thought I might be going to die. At the peak of it if someone had offered to shoot me I would probably have said yes.

I’m reasonably good at tolerating pain having had migraines from age 14 to mid thirties but these were unbelievable.

MsInsomniac · 03/10/2021 14:56

In order:
Removal of drains after EMCS - never felt anything like it, it felt like they were pulling my insides out, so weird as others I’ve spoke to said the drains didn’t hurt at all being removed, but this was god awful excruciating pain.
Induced labour leading to 2 hours non productive pushing before they realised he was stuck
Gallstones which ruptured my gallbladder because no dr would see me due to covid and I ended up with sepsis

NotMyCat · 03/10/2021 15:27

Herniated disc with cauda equina. Months
I told a&e to cut my leg off as I couldn't take the pain any more
Was taking paracetamol, naproxen, diazepam, morphine, codeine.. everything!

Hemiplegic migraine when I ended up on a stroke ward unable to keep anything down, crying in pain.

MintJulia · 03/10/2021 15:37

A necrotic ovarian dermoid that my gp insisted was IBS. Hmm

Finally in such pain I crawled into a&e, passed our, four hour op and a week in hospital. So much pain I couldn't see. Not nice.

Helenmumoftw0 · 03/10/2021 16:06

Birth and then the doctors saving my life afterwards 😆

Caramelsmadfuzzytail · 03/10/2021 16:30

Dvt in my groin. So much pain. I used crutches, otherwise I'd have never gone anywhere.

6demandingchildren · 03/10/2021 16:54

In order of worst pain to still worse pain
Trigeminal autonomic cephalalgia (cluster headache) ( suicide headache) I get about 18 of these a week and they can last up to 4 hours each.

Arthritis is every joint even my jaw

Gallbladder attack, it's finally gone

Breach birth without pain relief

hookiewookie29 · 03/10/2021 16:55

Chronic toothache when I was pregnant. Felt like someone was pushing a knife into my gum. I actually begged the dentist to just pull it out but he couldn't because he needed to x-ray it, and he couldn't do that because I was pregnant. I would rather give birth with no pain relief than have toothache!

geeksupreme · 03/10/2021 20:29

I managed to severely dislocate my kneecap a couple of months back and I would sell my soul to the devil not to go through that ever again 😅

artquejtion · 03/10/2021 20:32

Gallstones with blocked bile duct.

fiorentina · 03/10/2021 21:01

Suspected burst ovarian cyst. Absolute agony.

Animum2 · 03/10/2021 21:01

I had a lump on my tongue last year, the removal of it was not pleasant, was done by local anaesthetic, having needles Injected into my tongue was not pleasant and then when the anestheic wore off a couple hours later the pain was pretty bad, couldn't swallow or eat for 2 days,

I also tore my calf muscle a few years ago that was worse that tearing my ankle ligament, also injured middle finger falling over and displaced the knuckle and ligaments

bigbeatmanifesto · 03/10/2021 21:06

Getting hit by a car & Cutting my legs open to the bones on my shins.
None of my 3 C sections compared to either of those.

clarepetal · 03/10/2021 21:09

Induced labour

Immaback · 03/10/2021 21:11

Natural childbirth with severe tears and no pain relief. Dislocating shoulder and C section didn’t even come close for me. Absolute shit show that will never fade and I will never forget

Rapunzel91 · 03/10/2021 21:11

Ruptured tube from ectopic pregnancy. My God that was excruciating, I thought I was going to die

Fordian · 03/10/2021 21:54

@RosieLemonade

Giving birth. I've been blessed to be very healthy. I wasn't even fussed about seeing DD when she was born just that it was over.

Me too. I was so glad labour was over, I was a bit 'Whatevs' about actually having the fruit of my loins handed too me.

Stormwhale · 03/10/2021 22:09

When I was having ds by csection, I became extremely tachycardic, my heart rate dropped to 26bpm. The first drug they gave me didn't work, so they had to give me another to try and bring my heart rate up. As soon as they gave it to me it was like someone had attacked the top of my head with an axe. It was excruciating and it went on for ages. I was screaming in pain and ended up being given a hefty dose of fentanyl to get the pain under control. Poor dh was fucking terrified and thought he was losing me.

batmanladybird · 03/10/2021 22:39

Had a bartholin cyst
Was dreadful

Jumpingintosummer · 03/10/2021 22:41

Gallstones
Childbirth and subsequent stitches
Infected cyst resulting in lancing (instant relief)

MondeoFan · 03/10/2021 22:50

Sciatica
Gallstones
Recovery from emergency C Section
Ingrowing toenail removal
Skin Cancer removal from my nose

All as bad as each other but in different ways. I'll never forget any of them.

bluerecruit · 03/10/2021 22:52

Forceps and episiotomy without anaesthetic.

gogohm · 03/10/2021 22:53

Wisdom tooth - April 2020, finally managed to get it removed feb 2021, every time I moved my jaw it was agony, yet nhs kept giving me antibiotics and private dentists weren't interested due to covid.

gogohm · 03/10/2021 22:54

@Whinginadeville

Except childbirth for me didn't hurt much, I didn't have any drugs or anaesthetic either
