I’ve had some pretty nasty migraines & my c section recovery wasn’t the nicest.

What’s the worst pain you’ve ever been in and how long did it last?

Period pain

Ive had two kids and period pain was far worse than childbirth.

inmyslippers · 03/10/2021 08:56

Child birth
Toothache
Tennis elbow

PhilCornwall1 · 03/10/2021 08:57

Trigeminal Neuralgia is the worst pain I've had and get. I've got Rheumatoid Arthritis and have a high pain threshold, but TN is another level compared to my RA pain.

Ectopic pregnancy rupturing. Went on for hours, full on agony.

Yutes · 03/10/2021 08:59

Pain of my miscarriage. Physically I was in pain for about 6 hours. Proper incapacitating pain.

CheeseandWine91 · 03/10/2021 09:00

Childbirth- I don’t think it would’ve been as bad if it hadn’t taken so long. I was in early labour for 24 days then active labour for 10 Confused

Appendicitis- my god there’s nothing quite like a burst appendix pain

Imalittleteapotleaf · 03/10/2021 09:01

Contractions were bad as I had a back to back baby. But I had every drug going plus an epidural and it was wonderful nearer the end. God knows why people want to it without!

C section after was painful but management with those lovely sweet morphine syringe things.

Most pain would be.. after birth going to the loo.. as I had some sort of tear or haemorrhoids (TMI) but oh my gosh the pain was worse than anything. For my first I didn’t go to the doctor for weeks either (stupidly). After that I always had cream incase of a flare up. So so painful.

Arthroscopy with wrongly administered anaesthetic. Couldn’t speak to tell them I could feel everything.

Childbirth - a breeze compared to that. Only paracetamol. However, I do strongly believe that all births are different and we cannot compare our pain to others.

Neonplant · 03/10/2021 09:02

I've had surgery 2 weeks ago tomorrow. I've never had surgery or given birth so I really had no idea what to expect. The pain was nothing compared to my period pain. I do have adenomyosis and would say I get bad pain though. It's not horrific all period every period but at some point during my period each month it is bad and every so often it's excruciating.

RavenclawsRoar · 03/10/2021 09:04

Childbirth. Didn't know it was possible to be in that much pain and not die. Pushing felt like being ripped in half while being turned inside out. Horrifying. Had a c section the next time - much better!

dementedma · 03/10/2021 09:05

Childbirth
Frozen shoulder

opinionminion · 03/10/2021 09:06

Ectopic pregnancy which ruptured my Fallopian tube. I collapsed.

Brokenrecord3006 · 03/10/2021 09:08

Childbirth. I remember telling the midwife that I wanted to die because it would have been a better option.

Mommabear20 · 03/10/2021 09:16

Back to back labour with DS 😭

Timeforwinterclothes · 03/10/2021 09:18

Leaking bile duct filling my abdomen with bile, collapsing one lung and stopping my stomach from emptying until it nearly ruptured. Put childbirth, gall stones and appendicitis in the shade.

CigarsofthePharoahs · 03/10/2021 09:23

What I was told was costochondritis, but I'm not convinced.
I felt like someone had stabbed me in the chest, pulled my ribcage open and was gutting me. I thought I was dying of a heart attack.
A&E said costochondritis.
I've had several attacks since and they are worse than labour pains. At least with labour it comes in waves and you know why it is happening and you're going to get a squishy baby at the end.
This pain was just constant. There was no way to sit or lie that didn't seem to make it worse.
The reason I don't think it's costochondritis is that my doctor has now prescribed me omeprazole for reflux and I've had no attacks when I'm on it.

PaperMonster · 03/10/2021 09:24

@Couldhavebeenme3 - feeling for you. Currently either frozen/thawing stage here. Little pain but not much movement. The zingers were the worst. It will get better xxx

Period pain - I’d often pass out with the pain. Labour was a doddle by comparison.

20viona · 03/10/2021 09:24

Having my placenta ripped out of my body with no pain relief is up there.

CentrifugalBumblePuppy · 03/10/2021 09:25

Trigeminal Neuralgia. There’s good reason why it’s nicknamed the Unalive Disease.

Congenital deformity & failed surgery on spine amongst other cysts & early onset degeneration, so I have permanent sciatica. Pain on a daily level up to a solid 9. If the TN kicks in, it’s so all encompassing that the sciatic pain no longer exists.

Had an anaesthetic injection in my cervix for biopsies. Makes my uterus shudder just to think about it.

Childbirth & bone breaks are waaaay down the list 😂

KingsleyShacklebolt · 03/10/2021 09:27

Another vote for gallstones. Three weeks after having my first baby, writhing in agony on the bathroom floor at 3am. A very different type of pain to labour, and of course when you're in labour you know why. First time a gallbladder attack hits, you have no clue what's going on.

Vindo · 03/10/2021 09:27

Childbirth. The c- section I had second time was a breeze in comparison.

ParkheadParadise · 03/10/2021 09:29

Heartbreak
When my dd died the physical pain was real. My body ached. It's 6 years this month and a part of me is still in pain.💔💔
The pain of losing your child is the worst pain imaginable.

CottonSock · 03/10/2021 09:29

Induced labour. Nothing else comes close.

DinkyDaffodil · 03/10/2021 09:32

Open fracture of my leg after a car accident - I will never get over this - and still have nightmares

IncessantNameChanger · 03/10/2021 09:32

Back to back labour. I had no idea I was in labour ( what a stupid situation as I was in hospital being induced) I had gone for a walk and suddenly it felt like I had fallen from height onto a wall on my back. Also ironically no one believed me when I figured out it was labour and only examined me when I was 9cm. It went from nothing to pushing in a hour with my pfb.
