Policeman kicks 15 year old girl in the stomach

GreekTragedy · 01/10/2021 09:58

I couldn't see a thread about this so thought I'd start one.

I am completely shocked at this video.

This "officer" came out of nowhere and did a flying kick to a young girl!!

Now I can understand police getting a it violent in the heat of the moment but this? This is outright disgusting.

That officer should be charged.

What the fuck has happened to our police force??

@Soubriquet

She is a victim!. She got kicked by a grown fucking man who is supposed to have training on how to handle these types of situations
Exactly this ^

The PC is obviously shit at his job, and cannot control his nasty temper, like some other policemen apparently.

Some of them are just paid thugs, in a uniform they should NEVER be wearing.

Also, just leaving this here. A year old story, but very relevant.

@ILoveJamaica

Love how this girl is being called a "victim" and a "child". She's pissed, screaming like a banshee and obstructing an Officer in the line of duty..

You claim you were a police officer (on your post from11.59 today,) and your DH is STILL one... Thanks for proving my point, and that of many others on here posting all the negative views on some police.

Your attitude is appalling. Absolutely vile.

However, you're the gift that keeps on giving. Because you are proving the police-bashers right.

mbosnz · 01/10/2021 18:44

Shit, wrong thread! Sorry! Ignore!
**@chaosrabbitland he could have de-escalated it?

This will have been tried, believe you me. Those girls will have been asked repeatedly to go home, before things escalated. You don't see any of that, because it's not shown in the film.
Umm, bootsy had literally just arrived and ran straight in with his feet. He didn’t try any form of de escalation at all. It’s all there on the video. Why are you making things up?

What’s wrong with society at the moment is people’s willingness to accept the unacceptable from people who are supposed to uphold the law

That doesn’t include using unreasonable force and kicking children in the abdomen

@Clymene

Agreed. ^ I can't believe some of the utter shit I read on here sometimes. I pray @Iheartbaby does not have children, and is never left in charge of any.

ohfourfoxache · 01/10/2021 19:31

Can we collectively agree an age where it’s not unreasonable for a child to be hurt by the police if they are misbehaving?

15 is clearly acceptable, 12 isn’t that much of a stretch….anyone calling for ages with single figures?

RIPIgglePiggle · 01/10/2021 19:32
@RIPIgglePiggle so how do we make sure nothing like this happens again, what’s your thoughts?
You can’t. There will always be people who abuse their power in any occupation. Just like you can’t promise there will never be another teacher who is a paedophile or doctor/nurse who kills patients.

You can’t eliminate risk you can only try to mitigate it.

Bodyworn cameras help a lot. I hope the more they are used the less the public will feel the need to film. I can see why people do it but it’s horrific for me to watch yet another clip of another officer being violently assaulted while some idiot is filming and laughing.

Careful recruitment and thorough vetting. Mass recruitment like we are having to do now is a bad idea. Standards slip.

Personally I think a reduction in the number of forces and an effort to bring standards into line accross them all would help. You should expect the same high standards wherever you live, it shouldn’t be a postcode lottery.

Improved accountability. We have two bodies that hold us accountable, HMIC and the IOPC. They don’t work together. When an issue is identified by the IOPC in my opinion HMIC should do a forcewide thematic review. So if an officer is found guilty of assault then HMIC look at the force is doing on use of force - training, complaints, professional standards etc

Iheartbaby · 01/10/2021 19:32

If they are acting like that to a police officer then that is what happens. Quick to dish it out and then shocked at the consequences.

MrsRobbieHart · 01/10/2021 19:33

Oh I wouldnt open that can of worms @ohfourfoxache. There was a thread the other day where someone wanted the police to come round and scare their own child into behaving. Think child was 4/5.

ohfourfoxache · 01/10/2021 19:37

@MrsRobbieHart aw, but just think about how useful police intervention could be for dealing with the Terrible Twos??

Needless to say my tongue is firmly wedged in my cheek, but my point is at what age does it suddenly become acceptable for children - or anyone - to be in receipt of such treatment? Because according to some posters they got what they deserve

RIPIgglePiggle · 01/10/2021 19:40
**@RIPIgglePiggle, you keep saying 'trust me'. That's the problem. There's far too many very good reasons, just from this one case alone, not even looking at far too many others, that too many people now, particularly vulnerable people, people of colour, women, people with mental and physical challenges, don't feel they can. And that's not them being hysterical. It's because of the huge betrayal of trust, of abuse of power.

This has provided a critical injury to the trust required for policing by consent to function. It's going to take major surgery for it to survive.
Don’t I know it.

It makes an already bloody hard job even harder.

I go to work and try and do something positive for those victims who do put their trust in us. But I can see the bigger picture and it’s horribly depressing.

mbosnz · 01/10/2021 19:50

Thank you for taking that in the spirit it was intended. I am not 'FTP'. I have family members in the police. One of them, I once would have sworn was one of the good guys. The other one, I'm still prepared to swear is one of the good guys.

This situation is toxic, both for the police, and the public. This house needs a serious deep clean.

Iheartbaby · 01/10/2021 19:52

I’m shocked with some of the responses on here, reading this before I watched the videos I thought the girls would be about five foot and a size 6 and be looking like young children…..nope, they were drunk screaming and probably the same size of the police, l don’t feel sorry for them at all

Please say you don't have children.
Iheartbaby · 01/10/2021 20:11

I do have children and I would be disgusted if my 15 year old acted like that, and to be honest if she was at that point at 15 where she was attacking the police I would be very pleased if this was the consequence and would hope it would get her back in the right track.

WormYourHonour · 01/10/2021 20:11

Just for you I've cropped a screen grab of the video right at the top of the coppers head...

Same size... Indeed...

@RIPIgglePiggle I’ve got a theory and I’d really appreciate your thoughts on it if you don’t mind

The police, like so many else in the public sector, have been treated like shit over the years. Not enough funding, not enough support, too much work. My theory is that the vast majority who are good at their jobs are leaving, so the concentration of “bad apples” - those who want power, or those who have managed to find a slightly cushy position, or those who couldn’t find a job anywhere else - is actually increasing

Therefore the reputation of the organisation spirals downwards, which leads to more good people leaving

It might be naivety but I can’t remember ever being scared of the police as a kid. But that might be white privilege.

What do you think? Could there be any truth in this?
