Policeman kicks 15 year old girl in the stomach

I couldn't see a thread about this so thought I'd start one.

I am completely shocked at this video.

This "officer" came out of nowhere and did a flying kick to a young girl!!

Now I can understand police getting a it violent in the heat of the moment but this? This is outright disgusting.

That officer should be charged.

What the fuck has happened to our police force??

Would I mind if a policeman drop-kicked my lovely teenager daughter as she waited quietly holding a posy of flowers? Yes, I'd be furious.

Can't say I really care about these two little shits.

JasonMomoasgirlfriend · 01/10/2021 12:43

@hamstersarse yes, "obtuse" is the right word here.

This whole thread is like the Twilight zone. La la la la. La la la la.

yourhairiswinterfire · 01/10/2021 12:44

@Pixilicious

I think you'll find she was attacking a police officer and helping her friend resist arrest. Are the police meant to just take that - seeing their colleague being attacked and not do anything. Get a grip, this is why society is going to shit in this country as people aren't held accountable for their shitty behaviour
No. I said earlier that she deserved to be dealt with, her behaviour was appalling (the behaviour of both girls was), not excusing it at all.

But he's a grown man, she's a 15 year old girl. It's not that he should ''not do anything''. He should have restrained her appropriately, it's not like he couldn't easily have done that. Instead, he chose to use unnecessary force, a very dangerous kind to use against a female (kicking in the abdomen).

ohfourfoxache · 01/10/2021 12:45

And that’s the absolute crux of the matter

That these girls deserved it

That it was acceptable to use excessive force and use techniques that police are not permitted to use

But it’s ok! Because they are only 2 little shits and they got what was coming to them

Great to know

ohfourfoxache · 01/10/2021 12:47

^ was in response to @Alcemeg btw

@StaplesCorner

So you can see from the posts on this thread defending the policeman assaulting that 15 year old that the situation in the Uk with attitudes to policing and within the police force itself are complex but the underlying theme is that people are "asking for it". Two stupid 15 year olds are drinking so they are "asking for it". "It" can be anything from being beaten up to rape and murder. The comments I'm reading here are the sort of thing you see if the read a Daily Mail article then scroll right down to the bottom of the page. People literally frothing at the mouth in delight that someone got what they consider was coming to them - and if that happens to be a young girl being kicked by a man then all the better.

These are the sorts of attitudes that allowed Couzens to remain in his job.

But the girls do play a part in this. It is just not going to work long-term if you don't acknowledge that. Policing will continue to get worse.

You, by taking this stance, are also defending the actions of the girls - many people on here are refusing the even acknowledge that the girls were out of order (excuse the pun).

They are both as bad as each other but the sequence of events is not really in favour of the girl. If she could behave herself, she wouldn't have been seen as a threat.

Just to reiterate that the police officer perhaps was too full on - but this is an interaction between people and there is a lot of context about the threat that police officers face every day.

Feelslikealot · 01/10/2021 12:49

Why not just do as she was asked by a police officer?

Are you FUCKING SERIOUS? When Sarah Everard has been in the news this week because she did exactly as she was told by a police officer?

TooBigForMyBoots · 01/10/2021 12:49

@JasonMomoasgirlfriend

And we all know what happens when people "assume".
Is it similar to what happens when someone imagines what's going on in a police officer's head?😆
Jconnais1chansonquivavsenerver · 01/10/2021 12:51

@FlorenceWintle

trying to help a friend who was being manhandled by someone at least twice her size

He wouldn’t have ‘manhandled’ her if she wasn’t resisting him. Why not just do as she was asked by a police officer?

Sarah Everard is why not.
BobLemon · 01/10/2021 12:51

I’ve seen the video, and I didn’t see a kick to the stomach. It was pretty forceful, but it wasn’t the vicious, gratuitous attack to the abdomen I thought I was going to see from reading posts. As others have said, we would be horrified if DD15 was behaving like that and anger at the policemen would be far from our thoughts.

JasonMomoasgirlfriend · 01/10/2021 12:51

No

viques · 01/10/2021 12:52

@Gingernaut

She was attacking another officer who was restraining her friend.
She was actually bent over two other officers. She could have had a knife in her hand because that is the reality of policing today. I think the police officer did what he did to protect his fellow officers from what he perceived as possible harm.
goawayalcg · 01/10/2021 12:52

Unless you've been in this situation, you simply have no idea how you would react. If I was arrested tomorrow, I would comply.

If you are going to react by fly kicking a child, then you are in the wrong job.

WormYourHonour · 01/10/2021 12:53

She was actually bent over two other officers. She could have had a knife in her hand because that is the reality of policing today.

Which hand is she holding the knife in? Her left and right were both holding the female officers arm.
Has she got a third hand?

Feelslikealot · 01/10/2021 12:55

Just to reiterate that the police officer perhaps was too full on - but this is an interaction between people and there is a lot of context about the threat that police officers face every day.

A bit full on? God forbid the police ever think you're a bit too full on and fucking kick you to the ground. Where's the line between not full on, and a bit full on after which its ok to fly kick someone? Are people really this thick? That they think it's ok for a police officer, paid from tax payers money to maintain law and order, to kick a young girl to the ground? If police can't handle a 15 year old CHILD being a bit lairy they shouldn't be in the job. Makes me sick that you're defending it. The police cannot just go around assaulting members of the public.

Clymene · 01/10/2021 12:56

She's a barefoot child who he fly kicked. He needs to be stripped of his badge

JasonMomoasgirlfriend · 01/10/2021 12:56

Yes, Because no one ever can hold more than one thing in their hand at a time.

knittingaddict · 01/10/2021 12:56

No one is defending the girls actions. No idea what they were doing before the filming, but it was obviously enough to get the police involved. They were drunk and stupid and shouldn't have resisted arrest. However the policeman who kicked her was still in the wrong and it was easy to see that action other than kicking could have been taken. Just because the girls behaved badly doesn't excuse the behaviour of an adult, professionally trained police officer.

The police are there to arrest people, take them into custody and let the law deal with them. They are not there to hand out physical punishment to young women for bad behaviour. That is not their job.

DingleyDel · 01/10/2021 12:57

Seems an entirely proportionate response to 2 underage girls in a pub.

thepastisanothercountry · 01/10/2021 12:57

I'd be mortified and furious if my 15 year old behaved in that way though would rationalise that she was trying to stop her friend being hurt and lost sense of how she should behave in what to her must have been a frightening situation.

However, short of her brandishing a weapon or raining thumps onto a police officers head for example I most certainly would not expect a police officer to kick her in the stomach so hard she fell to the ground. There were many ways he could have handled it. Presumably he is considerably stronger than a 15 year old girl and could have found a way to restrain her that didn't involve overwhelming violence.

What is going on with our police force.? this was really upsetting to watch

hamstersarse · 01/10/2021 12:58

@Clymene

She's a barefoot child who he fly kicked. He needs to be stripped of his badge
That description doesn't tally with my view of that video

She's a drunk aggressive teenager with no respect for anyone.

So a female officers arm and a knife... Wow... That's a talent..

But anything to defend the violent male I guess..

knittingaddict · 01/10/2021 12:59

These are exactly the sort of excuses used in the US when cops shoot unarmed victims. It's not valid there and it's not valid here.

user1497207191 · 01/10/2021 13:00

@pisspants

I think police need to have cameras on their uniforms at all times, like a dash cam. It will hold them more accountable and provide vital evidence of police abuse if needed.
I agree. It's very one-sided when the officer has the power to switch them on when it suits them but they're turned off when it doesn't. They shouldn't have a switch and should be on all the time, preferably with wifi feed to servers at HQ so an errant officer can't "lose" it either.
