Previously undecided voters would you vote for Starmer's Labour now?

Are there any previously Tory voters or undecided voters who would now consider voting Labour in a GE based on Kier Starmer's speech and him taking on the far left of the party?

I vote Labour anyway but I'm interested if any of his speech "cut through" as they say. To my eyes the main heckler just came across like a complete loony and made Kier Starmer's stance look even more sensible.

Not watched the speech, if they still refuse to acknowledge women’s rights then it would be crazy for me to vote for them as I have 3 young daughters who will grow to be women.

applechips · 30/09/2021 11:27

Absolutely not, and I am a lifelong socialist

Same here. Right now we need to ensure women are protected. We can always mitigate Tory policies as best we can - food banks etc, but once “woman” means “female or male” then every single piece of progress made for women’s rights becomes entirely meaningless.

Plus I cannot get behind a party who supports the idea that “sex work is work”.

JustFrustrated · 30/09/2021 11:30

Nope.

I don't have any one party, but labour have absolutely told me I'm not welcome. A woman, raising two daughters, how can I vote for them?

I have no allegiance and go by policies, priorities and performance come election time.

There is no way on Earth I would be voting for Labour right now and I've never felt stronger about it. They are completely off the menu for me.

StrawberrySquirrelThief · 30/09/2021 11:30

Nope

AlfonsoTheDinosaur · 30/09/2021 11:32

Nope.

crosstalk · 30/09/2021 11:35

Another no because of their lack of support for women.

SisterGabriel · 30/09/2021 11:37

No. Two reasons:
I work in a private school, turkeys, Christmas etc. I want to keep my job.
He doesn’t appear to know what a woman is and therefore will struggle to defend my rights.
I refuse to vote Conservative because they are horrible and I need a sane alternative.

Franklin12 · 30/09/2021 11:38

Its almost as if Labour arent listening. They are in their own right on/echo chambers and following the woke agend. That will go down well with the red wall seats they lost last time.

The what is a women issue is a huge problem for Labour. Just why??

Of course minorities need guidance and protection but NOT on the back of women overall. It sounds deluded but keep going and you will lose the next election and the one after too.

Tony Blair won THREE GE's. Learn from that or be in opposition for the next 10-20 years

KeyErro · 30/09/2021 11:40

No, because of their stance on women, as evidenced by Starmer, Rayner and Lammy.

Mariell · 30/09/2021 11:40

Both the Conservatives and Labour are unelectable but Labour are far worse -

Previously undecided voters would you vote for Starmer's Labour now?
EerilyDisembodied · 30/09/2021 11:41

No, and I did vote for them at the last GE. I'd rather spoil my ballot paper right now quite frankly and that's something I never thought I'd do.

Kosmoceratops · 30/09/2021 11:43

I think Keir Starmer is a decent man - which is more than can be said about many other politicians.

Appointing Rachel Reeve is a good move - sensible, well thought out economic policies.

But he needs to get rid of Momentum - because if he does not I fear they would take over were Labour to be elected.

And they need to sort out the mess on “women’s rights” v trans womens rights.

Narutocrazyfox · 30/09/2021 11:44

Nope, absolutely not. Everyone I know thinks Labour are a complete joke.

Until Labour start listening (and taking on board) the concerns of their potential voters, they have no chance.

DynastyBarry · 30/09/2021 11:45

I've always voted labour - and been a member but have no idea who to vote for now- I'm not a member and can't vote for them as they (and the libbdems) don't know what a woman is. I could never vote for the the Conservative and Unionist Party so that I fear leaves me with a spoilt vote :(

PronounssheRa · 30/09/2021 11:46

No

TheElementsSong · 30/09/2021 11:47

Nope.

dannydyerismydad · 30/09/2021 11:48

We have an excellent Labour MP who works hard to represent his constituents. I would happily vote for him.

I'm unlikely to ever vote Tory and certainly wouldn't with this inept bunch of self serving clowns who deliver only meaningless sound bites at the helm.

I hate our political system though. It is anything but democratic and not at all representative of our population. It leads to tactical voting and voter disengagement. I hate also that many MPs do more to represent their parties and follow their career aspirations than they do to represent their constituencies.

PrincessPaws · 30/09/2021 11:49

Not a chance

AnnPerkins · 30/09/2021 11:50

@hanahsaunt

I am a floating voter and rarely vote for the same party two elections in a row. Were an election called tomorrow, based on what has been said by Keir Starmer and others over the course of the conference week I would absolutely not vote Labour at the moment (having voted happily for Labour on previous occasions). I care nothing for his speech until he can and his MPs can understand human biology.
Same
Rhioplepog · 30/09/2021 11:53

No never again. I cannot understand their stance on women’s rights, therefore have lost confidence that they would make the right call on other issues.

Whinginadeville · 30/09/2021 11:53

Not until he acknowledges my cervix

jewel1968 · 30/09/2021 11:54

Gosh Labour have really lost their way. Their senior politicians are dreadful. They are poor communicators, don't really understand what impacts people and are locked into internal battles. I wish they would look up and look out.

Keir is so desperate to reclaim the centre ground he is neither fish nor fowl.

Nothing will change I suspect. People might vote for them but it will only happen if the current Gov are so dreadful people think anything is better...

FreeBritnee · 30/09/2021 11:55

It’s not possible. I no longer exist

MysteriousMonkey · 30/09/2021 11:57

Previous labour voter, and definitely not!
