Previously undecided voters would you vote for Starmer's Labour now?

Are there any previously Tory voters or undecided voters who would now consider voting Labour in a GE based on Kier Starmer's speech and him taking on the far left of the party?

I vote Labour anyway but I'm interested if any of his speech "cut through" as they say. To my eyes the main heckler just came across like a complete loony and made Kier Starmer's stance look even more sensible.

@VinylQueen

If you're someone saying you long you get rid of the Tories, but you can't vote Labour based on their stance on sex...

I don't get this? I understand the issue is of fundamental importance to you, but I don't understand how it trumps the horrors that would come of more years of story rule, on women's lives and the lives of all marginalised people. Isn't it worth getting a more socially caring government in first before then challenging them in their stance on women?

(Obviously this only applies if you're someone who would otherwise vote Labour).

Can you imagine the horrors of years of anti-female rule? How blinkered are you with all the information and experience are you to say the above. But then am not surprised. 'STOP THINKING ABOUT YOU AND YOUR RIGHTS SELFISH WOMEN, BE KIND AND PUT EVERYONE ELSE FIRST' I shudder to think of the penalties for woman for challenging this Labour Party on this issue once in power.

If Ali gets in to lead the Green Party, that’s where my vote will go. He’s a man who knows that biology is real and isn’t afraid to say it.

WormYourHonour · 30/09/2021 15:09

Nope.

Won't be voting Tory either

Or greens.

Or Libs...

I used to quite like Starmer and was happy when he was elected leader. I usually vote Labour or Lib Dem. But fuck no - as a gender critical feminist I don't think I'll be voting Labour again for some time.

PronounssheRa · 30/09/2021 15:22

This is just another way of saying 'after the revolution, love'. Women are always asked to put their needs last.

If labour get in they will see this as an endorsed of their anti women policies

@StiggyZardust

I feel politically homeless at the moment. Previously I've voted for Labour. There doesn't seem to be a party that represents me, a middle aged woman with left/feminist leanings.
This is how I feel too

No, because if they get in they’ll use that to defend their stance on women - I’m really fed up of having to think about “other marginalised groups, when some of those marginalised groups give no thought to the rights (or very existence) of women and girls.

pickingdaisies · 30/09/2021 15:27

No. Right up until this week, I'd have said yes, because Boris is beyond a joke. But, having watched politician after politician pretend they believe that twaw, and anyone who fancies it can grow a cervix, I am done.

Wrongsideofhistorymyarse · 30/09/2021 15:30

No. I don't trust Labour to look after women's rights.

BelleHathor · 30/09/2021 15:33

@TerrificEchidnaSpikes

Well... I could in theory consider voting Labour...

But...

I can't quite grasp the pencil in my tiny little tyrannosaur hands... 🦖

😆 This has got me wondering if dinosaurs have cervixes, off to Google.
ElliottSmithsfingers · 30/09/2021 15:34

Labour HQ could be sent a link to this thread and countless like this one, but it wouldn't make a blind bit of difference. They are the essence of self righteousness. The tories are selfish bastards but don't pretend to be anything else. And they know basic biology.

ducksalive · 30/09/2021 15:35

It is very hard to get back rights once they have been legally given away.
Removing sex based rights is a very fundamental change likely to harm the most vulnerable in society.

I have little patience for current Tory government but I don't see any legal changes they are currently proposing that come close.

Which doesn't mean I agree with underfunding hospitals, schools, legal aid and refugee services.

I would vote for the Green Party if Ali was elected.

MichelleScarn · 30/09/2021 15:38

Exactly ducks it puts me in mind of the gingerbreadman and the fox ^promising* not to eat him once they reached the riverbank.

And that went well.

HermioneWeasley · 30/09/2021 15:40

We’re the half the population that already get less than our fair share, and once Labour destroy our rights we will never get them back.

There is no bigger political issue for me. Nothing.

Somebodylikeyew · 30/09/2021 15:41

@hanahsaunt

I am a floating voter and rarely vote for the same party two elections in a row. Were an election called tomorrow, based on what has been said by Keir Starmer and others over the course of the conference week I would absolutely not vote Labour at the moment (having voted happily for Labour on previous occasions). I care nothing for his speech until he can and his MPs can understand human biology.
This, 100%.

They don’t get my vote again until they protect and serve women again instead of gaslighting and insulting them.

Lifelines11 · 30/09/2021 15:42

No way will I vote for Starmer until he recognises what a woman is and isn't

Kezzie200 · 30/09/2021 15:45

I live in a Conservative area so my vote wouldn't count sadly.

I'm a sort of centrist Labour supporter and yes would vote for Keir. In some past eras I might have been persuaded to vote Tory but no way with the shower of a Government we currently have.

kristplankook · 30/09/2021 15:48

No way can I vote for a man who believes it's not right to say just women who have a cervix.

Kezzie200 · 30/09/2021 15:48

Interested that people are vilifying Labour over women's rights when you see how heavy handed PP went in over the SH vigil.

Do you really think Conservatives offer you a better whole package?

Wandawide · 30/09/2021 15:50

Lets wait for New Year before making any bold claims.

Nope!

And you seem to have assumed that anyone who won't vote for Labour will automatically vote Tory.

I can waste my vote in other ways!

#NoThankYou If you don't respect my sex you don't get my X
Nice.

How about:

"If my XX isn't Valid,
you'll not get my X on the ballot"

😂

kristplankook · 30/09/2021 15:59

Why would you think that someone deciding not to vote Labour would then vote Tory? That will be a cold day in hell. It could be the first time I don't vote at all.

Snog · 30/09/2021 16:10

I liked Starmer's speech and think he looks more credible as a leader now. I really don't like that he seems weak on womens rights as that is really important to me.

I do like that he seems a much more upstanding citizen than BJ.
