If you were locked in a shop overnight ( by yourself and in no danger )
Which type of shop would you choose ?
Mine would 100% be a bookshop . Even better if it had somewhere to make a coffee / tea.
My idea of heaven.

Anywhere with bed, booze and chocolate

Lovemusic33 · 28/09/2021 16:54

A old fashioned sweet shop or a toy shop.

DaphneDeloresMoorhead · 28/09/2021 16:56

And if I can't have a bed I'll make do with a music shop full of sheet music, a grand piano and a harp

QueenPeary · 28/09/2021 17:00

So it'd be a large M&S, food, beds, change of clothes - what more could you want.

Haberdashery. But the M&S food would be amazing!

Decisions, decisions...

Cocopogo · 28/09/2021 17:01

Somewhere like HobbyCraft, I’d be like Van Gogh by morning.

@DidgeDoolittle

When I was a teenager I had a Saturday job in Woolies. The stock room had a separate stock room just for all the pick and mix sweets. It was full of sacks of each kind , plus sacks of chocolate. It was divine. We all used to dream of getting locked in there overnight.
I also used to work at Woolies on a Saturday and I was often on the pick and mix counter. One of my jobs was to go up to the store room and bring down big bags of sweets to replenish the stock. Some might have accidentally slipped into my mouth 😂😂😂

It was quite creepy actually, one. Of those old fashioned lift cages reserved for staff and stock and which felt like it was going to break down any second!!!!

@WeatherwaxOn

First choice would be a bookshop. Otherwise IKEA or a large fancy department store - Liberty would be nice.
Liberty was my first thought as well, never bought much from there but it would be nice to pretend for a bit!
edwinbear · 28/09/2021 17:06

Paxton & Whitfield. Without a second thought. Who needs a bed/sleep when there is all that specialist cheese about?

cicatrix1 · 28/09/2021 17:09

John lewis

JohnStonesMissus · 28/09/2021 17:10

Antique/junk shop then I could have a real root around!

JohnStonesMissus · 28/09/2021 17:10

On the other hand I quite fancy being locked in Harrods...so much to look at.

SpindleWorld · 28/09/2021 17:11

@Sparklfairy

A chocolate shop. As long as it wasn't Thorntons.
Oh god, imagine a Thorntons 😱

You'd have to hope there was an alarm. Or a pot noodle left out in the staff room in the back.

me4real · 28/09/2021 17:16

Something chocolate. :)

me4real · 28/09/2021 17:17

I was going to say Thorntons- they're my fave. But dedicated thorntons shops (as opposed to a card shop with a bit of thorntons or whatever) don't exist anymore. Sad

tiredanddangerous · 28/09/2021 17:18

I think a supermarket would be a good bet. Wine, chocolate, books, blankets and pillows in the home section, breakfast goods. What more could you need?

ditalini · 28/09/2021 17:20

I once spent the night in a bookshop (worked there, was supervising workmen who were working on the roof).

It wasn't nearly as nice as you might imagine, especially at 3 in the morning when you're knackered, busting for the loo and the workmen have just taken the ceiling tiles off the toilet area.

WhyOhWhyOhWhyyyy · 28/09/2021 17:21

I think I could have a lovely time in one of the big M&S’s. Would help myself to some lovely wine and snacks from the supermarket, grab some nice new PJs from the womenswear section and settle into bed for the night in the home section. And they always have loos so wouldn’t need to worry about that.

starfishmummy · 28/09/2021 17:21

@catwithflowers don't remind me. Our woollies only had cuztomer escalators to the lower ground. I remember taking a young disabled DS in in his buggy and having to use the rickety staff/stock lift. For months afterwards he would be terrified if we were anywhere and had to use a lift!

expatmigrant · 28/09/2021 17:23

Selfridges 100%
It's actually a dream of mine. Smile

InnPain · 28/09/2021 17:23

Tesco, I’d spend some time in the magazine aisle and books aisle, then move on to the Krispy Kreme section…

FeeLock · 28/09/2021 17:24

A locksmiths.

Thorntons isn't what it used to be Sad
GoingOutOutNEVER · 28/09/2021 17:25

Cake shop that sold just Blackforest Gateaux … heavenly

Auroreforet · 28/09/2021 17:25

@Lemoncurd. My sister and a colleague got locked in BHS.
They were terrified of setting the alarms off initially.
Eventually they used a phone to ring the police who got a key holder out.
I don’t think they were there long enough to help themselves to anything. Grin

I was locked in a bookshop when I was a kid!! I was about 11 or 12 and popped into a bookshop one afternoon, sat down to read and suddenly all the lights went off. After about 20 mins I did start to panic but then saw the shop keeper coming back so I hid and tried to sneak out but she saw me and I died of embarrassment for her!
