Locked in a shop overnight.

If you were locked in a shop overnight ( by yourself and in no danger )
Which type of shop would you choose ?
Mine would 100% be a bookshop . Even better if it had somewhere to make a coffee / tea.
My idea of heaven.

Lego shop.

Can build a few dream sets.

100% in for that
PizzaCrust · 28/09/2021 16:02

My own so I can work in peace without customers badgering me 😂

Seeingadistance · 28/09/2021 16:02

My first thought was Greggs!

speakout · 28/09/2021 16:02

Ikea or a bed shop.

I don't give up a night's sleep willingly.

premiumbitch · 28/09/2021 16:02

Harrods 🤗

CarolynMartens · 28/09/2021 16:04

Can’t you stay over at John Lewis Oxford St now? There’s a hotel room and you can have a look round the store when it’s closed (I think). Not quite the same as being there completely on your own though!

Lweji · 28/09/2021 16:05

I'm not picky. Anywhere with food and a bed sounds fine.
But somewhere like Harrods or similar, where I could also try some nice clothes, sample the perfumes, etc., would be nicer.

IAmTheLovechildOfYvesAndIsabel · 28/09/2021 16:06

Someone (my mother) once told me that if you get locked in a shop overnight accidentally, then you cannot be held responsible for either helping yourself to whatever you need or trashing the place.
Even as a 10 year old I thought that sounded wrong! But typical of my mum!
Anyway, I too would have chosen IKEA but I know the security guard actually checks for stowaways especially seeing as someone did actually hide until everyone had left a few years ago....
I love the film with Natalie Portman - Miss America, I think it's called. It's a Walmart.
I'd probably choose Grace Brothers (😁) or maybe the Range as pp already said - everything you need!

Plumtree391 · 28/09/2021 16:07

Book shop with a kitchen area.
Possibly a charity shop because there would be books and comfy things from which to make a bed.

This. And:

A really good yarn shop.

Bookshop.

A really good sweet shop.

viques · 28/09/2021 16:09

@Firetimeagain

Viques I hadn't RTFT but great minds & all that Smile
It sounds as though it’s going to get a bit crowded, but I think we are like minded people so I think the only problem is going to be getting enough hot water up to the bath shop . Maybe there are decent showers in the managing directors office.......

I vote for lighting as many diptyque candles as we can.

RevolutionRadio · 28/09/2021 16:10

Lego shop

Or John Lewis/Harrods so I can have Lego, a bed and food items.

PuzzledObserver · 28/09/2021 16:13

@SylvanasWindrunner

Waterstones with a Costa in it. Leave me there for a week.
Great in theory, but in my experience the toilets in Waterstones are usually rank. Give me an independent book/coffee shop with slouchy leather sofas.
liveforsummer · 28/09/2021 16:14

I know a 'lively' pre teen who hid under a bed in b&m with her friend. They got caught though when they started roaming around the store and set off the alarm. Wasn't the worst choice tbf, has beds and bedding, snacks including a small fridge, alcohol, stationery.

WoodchipNightmares · 28/09/2021 16:15

Harrods

Once I'd completely taken the piss eating in the food hall and trying on clothes I'm sure I could find a bed - and after they'd managed to lock me in they could hardly complain Grin

foxychox · 28/09/2021 16:16

@myrtilles you are thinking of this www.bucksfreepress.co.uk/news/4816145.stranded-john-lewis-shopper-thanks-staff/

Very jealous of this, I used to work down the road and loved that John Lewis!

LindaLooky · 28/09/2021 16:17

I like thinking of this but for a base in the event of a zombie apocalypse. I think john lewis is a good call, I guess it has some books somewhere?

MargaretThursday · 28/09/2021 16:18

Bookshop (as long as the toilet was open Grin)

Rosesareyellow · 28/09/2021 16:18

OP I would definitely choose a bookshop too - but my first thought when you said that was ‘surely the lights would be off…’ how sad to be in stuck in a book shop when you can’t see to read! I hope there’s a lamp Grin

MintMatchmaker · 28/09/2021 16:18

Selfridges. I'd try on all the shoes then head down to the food hall for some chocolate.

madaboutrunning · 28/09/2021 16:19

An outdoor gear shop. Lots of lovely clothes and kit to choose, books and maps to read, and tents and sleeping bags to kip in. Heaven!

Suchalicklepumpkin · 28/09/2021 16:19

Macy’s 🥰

YanTanTetheraPetheraPimp · 28/09/2021 16:19

Harrods please 🙏

IntermittentParps · 28/09/2021 16:21

Obviously a bookshop! With a cafe.
Heaven.

QueenPeary · 28/09/2021 16:25

Absolutely John Lewis. Posh chocs, a cafe with coffee and food, lovely made-up beds, and I'd have browse haberdashery, fancy china and cookware and expensive socks to my heart's content. Does the arrangement also allow for you to take home what you want, like an overnight supermarket sweep? :o
