All my friends of a certain age want to run away from home

I thought it was just me, but after speaking to a bunch of friends around my age ( late 40s to early 50s) I have realised that all of us want to run away from home and fuck off to a desert island somewhere. We all have wildly different home lives, jobs and circumstances, but this is the common factor. Of course the pandemic has made things worse, but I don't think it's only the pandemic. Myself, I want to run away just to avoid being asked "Where is the sriracha?" when the sriracha is right on the counter.

I'm 49.
This was me a few years ago. 2 horrible teenagers, grumpy husband. I had Fuck all patience with anything or anybody.
Then my kids grew up, went to Uni and I remembered my DH was actually lovely and my kids are great.
I just hated everyone and everything for a while.
Really happy now.
But

I do fuck off for weekends by myself whenever I want and DH doesn't mind at all!

Probably missing the point here, but what is sriracha ?

Trying to ask nicely but what makes people ask stuff like this rather than just google it? You're literally on a computer.

I always love to find things out for myself rather than ask.

Not sure if this has been mentioned - but has anyone read Anne Tyler's 'Ladder of Years'; it's a good read!

traumatisednoodle that trip would have become even more "interesting" now that the French have expanded the use of their Covid Pass to include over 12's.

So fellow runawayers I've just come home and DH is trying persuade me to spend £5000 to drive through France at half term to self cater in a tiny apartment with 2 teenagers. I said no thanks, he said maybe we will go without you. I gave him a look and said "are you really suggesting you will drive both children through France and then feed them alone?" He stayed quiet a pity I was really looking forward to it.

have you decided yet - is he going with the dc ? I would have said I'll help with the packing!

There are so many of us. And we all want so little - just some peace & quiet & some brain space.
