What's everyone's weekly alcohol consumption?

I'm just interested to know. For comparison really. I LOVE wine. Trying new wine, different tastes etc. But I noticed I went from drinking a few glasses of wine on the weekend to two large glasses a night on weekdays. I was doing a bottle over 48hrs and I wondered what everyone else thought was an acceptable amount for them?

I've recently cut back and just sticking to weekends, maybe a double G&T instead. I do look forward to it and find it a nice treat.

@Sunnysal what?! you drink G&T’s AND a couple of bottles of wine a night? Strewth I’d be on the floor unconscious lol Grin

Peanutsandchilli · 27/09/2021 20:09

Usually none, but occasionally (like once a month) my husband will buy a small bottle of some kind of fruity cider which we'll share between us. I loathe wine though. I find it absolutely vile.

NichyNoo · 27/09/2021 20:09

I drink about 3 and a half bottles of wine spread out over 4 nights.

@Zeal

Apologies once again. I though OP asked for everyone's alcoholic consumption. I took that to mean the entire global population. Having reread the thread I see OP was asking about our own individual alcohol consumption.

My earlier answer, which was in fact the global consumption as available needs to be reduced to my own level. Silly me.

So, about the size of Wales each year.

🤣🤣🤣

None unless we are socialising ( which is a couple of times a month)

Ell17 · 27/09/2021 20:19

@Suzi888 it really does add up fast! And I'm the same as you. Love the taste and see it as a treat. Although opposite to you I find I use wine to replace evening snacking 🤭

Indoctro · 27/09/2021 20:22

None

Suzi888 · 27/09/2021 20:24

Lol well at least you aren’t doing both OP! Grin we love cheese and crackers, peanuts, crisps with wine. Will definitely have a very WineBiscuit merry Christmas put it that way! So may have to extend sober October into November too.
Strange thing is when we stop drinking we always get ill, bad colds, don’t sleep well that kind of thing. Everyone else seems to reap the benefits from quitting apart from us! Sad

MintJulia · 27/09/2021 20:24

At the moment, zero, or one G&T max in a week. Dull but necessary.

HarrisMcCoo · 27/09/2021 20:25

None as I like a clear head in the morning.

Ell17 · 27/09/2021 20:31

@Suzi888 Sounds like my kind of Xmas!!
I'm the same when I give up things or start things. Gave up smoking years ago, no change! Started taking lots of vitamins etc, haven't seen any change! It's frustrating but necessary Wink

A couple of (large) glasses of wine most evenings- unless I am going out driving, I am cutting back as I am low carbing ... so none at the moment and then will (try to) stick to just Sat/Sun nights ... but the reality is that DH and I love a glass or two with our evening meal.

2lsinllama · 27/09/2021 20:38

Used to have a glass of wine every night. Crept up more and more till it was a bottle a night. Tried cutting back but it would always creep up again so stopped altogether. 5 weeks with no alcohol now and starting to see a real difference.

charliebear78 · 27/09/2021 20:50

I am with you-I LOVE wine.
I workout and try to eat well but I noticed the weight was creeping on, so I am limiting myself to half a bottle a night, I drink Thurs,Fri,Sat and Sun.
It is hard because I could easily drink more, so I do have to make a conscious effort to stop at the halfway mark!!( which sometimes I have failed at.)
I feel better for doing so.
So, I drink more than you ;)

Ladysobermcsoberton · 27/09/2021 20:51

Zero, used to be loads. Another who found giving up completely easier than moderation.

charliebear78 · 27/09/2021 20:58

I also find once the wine is opened the crisps come out-so was eating a pack(maybe more-sharing a big bag with OH) of crisps four nights a week too
I figure I can give up crisps but not wine.

TheDuchessOfMN · 27/09/2021 20:58

I’m amazed at how little you all drink.
I drink 1 bottle of white wine every weekend and 2 small glasses of red wine. Usually over a Thursday - Sunday. Although I purposely haven’t drank any the past few Thursdays. It’s a dreadful habit and I can see how Thursday would become Wednesday very quickly

Mandy8888 · 27/09/2021 21:13

I do like a drink but I think it's important to have discipline to avoid issues, I had a month off and am trying again but it ain't working lol, i drink Fri-Sunday can go through 2-3 70cl bottles Aussies or 2 100ml vodka that's at the most I think I have improved considering what I drank before

Ragwort · 27/09/2021 21:20

TheDuchess I am sure a lot of people will just avoid this thread Grin, or lie I have plenty of friends who will have a couple of glasses of wine every night; my DPs always had wine with their evening meal .. Dad lived until he was 90 & my mother still going strong and in very good health at 88 Grin.

Impatientwino · 27/09/2021 21:31

I drink much more than I should. 2-3 bottles of wine a week and a couple of gins.

I always have 4 or 5 dry days so even worse that makes me a binge drinker as I stick to Fri and Sat generally. I try my hardest to not cave on a Sunday but something about cooking a roast dinner makes me reach for a cold glass bottle of wine!

When I have had dry spells one of the things I have most enjoyed apart from the excellent sleep is the lack of negative thoughts about myself and berating myself about drinking too much. I really need to remember that more often.

HalzTangz · 27/09/2021 21:41

Zilch, I don't drink ever

Ell17 · 27/09/2021 22:26

@Impatientwino A glass of wine definitely makes cooking more enjoyable! Also, could your tag BE anymore fitting! Wink

I drink two or three fats a week. One gin and tonic, maybe two, each time.

MegaClutterSlut · 27/09/2021 22:48

Fortunately for me I don't like the taste of alcohol so only really drink 2-3 times a year if that and thats purely to get pissed.

My bf and her husband drink every night although she's recently cut back as she was starting to consume quite a lot each night. I have other friends that have a glass or 2 of wine a night so it varies quite a bit

Timeisavirtue · 27/09/2021 22:48

None.... don’t need it, don’t want it...
