One can dream.

I think I would buy a big house with lots of acres and spend the rest of my life looking after unhomed dogs and pets letting them enjoy all my new land, also buy a motor home for the travelling always been a dream of mine haha however with that money I could buy a something a bit more exciting

What would everyone else do?

Much the same, nothing flashy, a small farm with rescued animals, my own vet and farm hard. I certainly would quit work.

Charliechoosecarefully · 24/09/2021 15:55

Honestly I would just be relived that my child(ten) have financial security but I think I would like to buy a motorhome and spend 5 or so years travelling the USA, Asia, Australia, Europe and back to the UK - don't know what I'd do afterwards probably a nice house and live not much differently so we'd make it last haha! Give family some money, rescue some animals etc

Dobbyisatwat · 24/09/2021 15:59

Yeah sorry, I’m winning it.

It’s meant to be, because I was going to buy a ticket and forgot and when we were in the shop, baby dd ran into the lottery stand and bumped her head, thus reminding me.

So you know. It’s meant to be.

I’m going to get two live in nurses to cover my dads care 24 hours a day because I’m about to crack.

Then I’m going to buy us a house no one can chuck us out of (another landlord wants to sell).

Nothing flash, just something nice where we can all be happy and safe.

Then I’m going to anonymously donate money the families of ill children to make their lives easier for the rest of my days.

Mogloveseggs · 24/09/2021 16:02

I'm another one who would buy a very small farm and rescue animals.
And buy a house for a friend to reduce her stress greatly.
And one for each of the kids for when they're older.
And sort out our pension pots.

the80sweregreat · 24/09/2021 16:06

I would be able to help out so many people ; it would be great.
Won't happen but a girl can dream

Theunamedcat · 24/09/2021 16:06

House for my neighbours who are lovely well actually I would buy them a bungalow because they have mobility issues house for me and my youngest plus one for my adult daughter and land to grow stuff on and bees I want bees they can be right by the entrance no one will bother us if they have to walk through a swarm

Bundttin · 24/09/2021 16:06

Gosh I would finishing the many renovation projects we have to do to tip top standard; nothing flash but quietly good quality.

I would buy in help with cleaning, cooking, shopping and driving.

I would give the 14 members of my family and my godchildren some substantial sums of money.

Give money to the Trussel Trust, the Lemon Tree Trust, the RNLI, the local rescue helicopter, and try and fund a homeless charity for a decade.

I would take on some more rescue horses and buy land to house them. And maybe a bit of forest.

Maybe a tiny apartment in London.

I am not bothered about clothes but I would love to buy one lovely ring and a pair of earrings to wear all the time.

And finally I would buy some paintings from an artist I admire.

It's cheered me up just day-dreaming about it! Grin

To get back to reality, I know someone who has lived on a trust fund all his life and he is quite a troubled person. It hasn't done him any favours shall we say.

Byeckythump · 24/09/2021 16:07

I'd sort out family and friend's mortgages. Get a decent detached house with some land, nothing massive but a country vicarage type place with 5/6 bedrooms. Create a beautiful garden on paper then pay someone else to make it happen and maintain it!

I would use the interest to buy houses (what, 5 million a year?!) and work with domestic abuse charities to give vulnerable women and their children a better chance, free rent and support as long as they did counselling and signed up to some kind of course that in time will make them more financially independent. Pay for their kid's Uni/education as appropriate too.

I quite fancy a camper van but to be honest with that amount of money I'd probably just pay someone to arrange some really nice touring holidays staying in fancy hotels!

Buy a grand piano just for me too.

UniformSchmooniform · 24/09/2021 16:07

Dobbyisatwat Grin I agree your daughter headbutting the stand was a clear sign from the universe. I hope you win it sounds like you've had a basinful to deal with.

However if I win I will treat myself to having the heating on all winter!

Oh, and a small house on a particular Greek island I love and I will fill it with lovely vintage bits and bobs. And I will buy a house with a feckin garage so I don't have to walk for miles.

I love the idea of secretly gifting other people too.

Wouldn't it be lovely to know that we and our families wouldn't ever have to worry about money again. Le sigh.

HandlebarLadyTash · 24/09/2021 16:10

Quit work, enjoy my family & catch up with ould friends
Share the money

KeepSmiling89 · 24/09/2021 16:11

Buy a lovely 4 or 5 bedroom house for me, DH and baby girl (due in november) so there's space for us and another one we plan to have in the future. One room would be a music room we've only ever dreamed of for instruments, music books, piano etc...
Pay my car outright OR buy a shiny new hybrid with space for family (and then some!)
Have another room for throwing our winnings in the air and pretend we're on the Crystal Maze! Used to do this with my brother using monopoly money in the living room Grin

the80sweregreat · 24/09/2021 16:14

I'd have an art studio : can't draw or paint , but I could fit it out and have a go at least ( after giving a few million away to my friends and family)

Gertie75 · 24/09/2021 16:17

I wouldn't buy a big house, I can't be bothered to clean it and don't want a cleaner so I'd buy a modest house but with a lot of land.
I'd also rescue dogs and donkeys and give huge chunks of money to local animal charities.

Sparklfairy · 24/09/2021 16:17

I know this doesn't answer the question but I find the euromillipns so depressing. Last time it was £111mill there was one winner, all good. No one in the UK got 5 + 1 star, so next price down was match 5...

They got £13,430.60...

Next prize was 4 + 2 stars (arguably a nearer miss!) And they got £909.40!

Imagine being one number off and not even winning a grand.

Bundttin · 24/09/2021 16:19

Gertie I spread read that as giving away huge chunky monkeys to animal charities Grin!

I would love a rescue donkey.

the80sweregreat · 24/09/2021 16:20

It doesn't always bring happiness. Too many stories I've read or heard about where it's gone wrong for people. I'm not saying I wouldn't like to win, but it can be a double edged sword.
Maybe the draw should be cut up a lot more so more people win ?

BOOMshakeshakeshaketheroom · 24/09/2021 16:21

Buy a secure home for my children and me. (Currently renting 😞) Somewhere with enough land to grow our own fruit and vegetables. Hire someone to help, as I'm crap at gardening.

Set up homeless accommodations. People before dogs.
Open some vegan restaurants all over the country.

Go travelling.

Dobbyisatwat · 24/09/2021 16:27

It depends on your attitude to money I think.

The horror stories you hear are usually people who fall out with family and friends over how much they give them, buying lavish houses in areas where they aren’t happy.

You don’t hear of the people really who never tell a soul they have won, don’t splash out on ridiculous homes and cars, and just live a quiet life. That would be me.

Bundttin · 24/09/2021 16:31

Yes it would be so much better if they divided it up in to 3 million pound parcels to win!

No one individual needs £111 million!

Chubbybum · 24/09/2021 16:31

I want a pet Giraffe

canlkeepthispen · 24/09/2021 16:33

Buy a house.
Hire an after school nanny to help with childcare so I can complete my degree.

Get us all passports and travel a bit.

iwishiwasonhol · 24/09/2021 16:35

a personal chef as a single parent im sick to the back teeth of cooking every day ,and a small house so i no longer need to rent

LaurieFairyCake · 24/09/2021 16:37

I'd get more dogs

And just carry on the same

I'd give away about 100 million and campaign against poverty with the rest

I'd unseat the government

Drivingish · 24/09/2021 16:42

I'm buying/building basically a hamlet in Wales or Scotland, letting all the family live in it, DD can run a bakery and there'll be visiting carers for the old people. I'll be a semi hermit and have a plot of land I can indulge my smallholding fantasies on (and someone can earn good money putting it right when I can't manage it properly). And my teeth will be fixed and not hurting me anymore. I can dream 😁

Flaunch · 24/09/2021 16:44

Buy a big farm and re-wild it. Spend my days. Gardening, pottering and metal detecting with the occasional bit of travel thrown in. I’d also buy an amazing camper van.
