One can dream.

I think I would buy a big house with lots of acres and spend the rest of my life looking after unhomed dogs and pets letting them enjoy all my new land, also buy a motor home for the travelling always been a dream of mine haha however with that money I could buy a something a bit more exciting

What would everyone else do?

@Dobbyisatwat

I tell you what I’d love to do through.

I’d buy a few houses and rent them at below market value to families that were in receipt of housing benefit.

Because of my past I know just how hard it is to get a private landlord to rent to you and even when you do, local authority allowance is laughably lower than market rents.

That would make a few families lives a lot less stressful.

Yes I really like this idea and maybe people who struggled in early in life and made bad financial decisions maybe helping them with renting homes or such if they have a bad credit rating. I know how easy it is to get into money trouble at such a young age and it tarnishes you for such a long time. I actually love your idea!

@groundcontroltomontydon

I'd have a mountain of stinking manure delivered to everyone who's treated me like poo over the past few awful years. Then I'd move to Paris.
Grin Grin Grin another good idea

Nice little holiday bolthole @FabulouslyFab

I'd go for more of a doer-upper
pied a terre

rjacksmiss · 24/09/2021 19:45

Land, nice modest country house to renovate, loads of land, horses, dogs, goats, cats and a beautiful garden.

Putting green, tennis court, 5 aside football pitch, summer house, duck pond.

I'd be so happy 😂

burritofan · 24/09/2021 20:03

I’d buy a farmhousey or vicaragey type property in rural-ish Sussex (lots of land and access to the Downs, but reasonable proximity to a Waitrose and trains – something convincingly “could have been luck/an inheritance/killer mortgage, but OK” rather than obvious “Lotto property”. Fill it with nice blankets and old furniture, cats, books, and baking.

Quit my job, hire a driver like Big, pay off friends’ mortgages, invest in renewables and companies doing good things and an anti-landlord lobbying firm or two, ensure my pension and my kids were set, give the rest away and live out my days reading, writing, pottering, gardening, making jam, and drawing.

I’ve never needed a job to be busy, productive, structured and fulfilled. I have a job entirely to pay the bills and it gets in the way of all that important gardening and reading.

the80sweregreat · 24/09/2021 20:03

I'd buy a Porsche Boxster ( red)

I was inspired by this thread to do it online. I have never done the lottery ever. So I probably picked the wrong thing. I won 5p.

Dobbyisatwat · 25/09/2021 07:16

Ah, bugger it.

Not even a tenner!

Justme10 · 25/09/2021 07:23

I won a whole... £2.40 Grin

jay55 · 25/09/2021 07:31

£122mil on Tuesday, the lotto gods clearly think i need a little bit extra.

MrsDThomas · 25/09/2021 07:33

No new house, already live in a small holding, love where I live.

New car, just another Ford, like my job so id stay part time. Already rent out 2 properties but id buy more as holiday lets. My own business.

Id put in a new kitchen, decorate the house completely. Give away lots to small local charities via a solicitor. As id 100% stay quiet about the win. Plus help preschools as they are really struggling.

Financial security for the kids. And enjoy a few holidays like italy, new york, iceland, canada (again)

Bunnycat101 · 25/09/2021 07:48

I would set up a foundation with £50m and have a role in it. That would give me purpose and something to do while benefiting others and the £50m would make it sustainable for the future with the foundation operating off the investment income.

I would give money (anonymously) to local parish councils so they can improve playground facilities and money to the local primary schools.

I would have some amazing holidays and buy some additional properties.

Nothing doing here :(
Onwards and upwards eh ?? :)
Could be worse.
